  1. Nice work-the watches are superb. You two make a good collaborative team, dreaming up the projects and making them happen. That 6538 is beautiful! Climb on.
  2. Thanks. I love it. It has the well-known flaws of the hand stack, short gmt hand, crown guards, bezel font and date font, but I think they could only be picked out by folks here on the board or if it was side-by-side with a gen. Fortunately, the EXP II black dial is not as common as a Sub. Interestingly-there is another flaw-the "ROLEX" stretches past the word "Perpetual" on the dial. That's not the case for a Gen EXP II, but it is for the Sub and GMT II, so when compared to my friends Gen Sub, it looks very similar. Climb on.
  3. Here is my Explorer II from River. I originally stumbled upon RWG looking for a white-dial Exp II. I've had several, but I finally settled on the black dial. It has the wrong hand stack, the bezel font is a bit off (in terms of boldness and size), the date font is different than the gen, but it's an eta 2892 and keeps excellent time, the lume is good. Having said all of that, this is my favorite watch. I'd like to send thanks and props out to River for setting me up. He's a gentleman and has always answered all of my questions, even the really stupid ones. Thanks River. Enjoy the pics everyone.
  4. Very nice. MBW watches are true pieces of art and craftsmanship! Great photos too!
  5. As a wise man used to say on OLD RWG, Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, Panerai. It's an illness and once you catch it, there's no hope. Your story is like many other RWG members before you. Climb on.
  6. Joe comes through time and time again. He's a valued member of RWG! Props Joe. Climb on.
  7. On the 2893, the GMT hand does in fact "jump" when adjusted, but them moves smoothly as it keeps time. Climb on.
  8. You have some good advice from posters here. Rolex Sea Dweller is a good one--I like that suggestion. If you like the Glycine and the GMT II, take a look at the Airman 2000-a Glycine and a GMT. Black/Black Rollie GMT would be cool too, since you like the sub. A bit more expensive, but you can find them gently-used for a decent price. And of course, I would be remiss if I didn't mention my favorite--the Rolex Explorer II. Good luck, enjoy the new little one, get lots of sleep now and whatever you do, don't make the mistake of telling your wife you're going to grab a Coke in the refreshment room (even if it is 10 steps away) while she's in labor. I did and this was her reaction. I suspect I'll be hearing about that one for a long time to come Climb on.
  9. Check it out. First Submariner I'm going to wait to the last minute and sneak my bid in--yeah right! Seriously--that's a nice piece of history. Climb on.
  10. Hey, my apologies for no pics yet. Grabbed the camera this morning, but my two year old had drained the batteries. Here's a shot of it that Nanuq took and posted a while back. This watch has great character. I love it. The bezel pearl is missing-just adds to the overall look of the watch.
  11. Nanuq has me jonesin' for a vintage rollie. The MBWs are the best out there. Looks like I'm going to have to go about proving myself a worthy member of the forum so hopefully I can one day purchase one of these incredible pieces.
  12. The TRS that Nanuq had offered as a prize for solving the riddle he posted to earn Powermax arrived, along with lots of other Alaska goodies. All I can say is I'm now hooked on the vintage models. I have enjoyed wearing the watch with the personalized Nanuq service. It looks great! Just wanted to publicly say thank you to Nanuq. It was a fun challenge. Climb on! I'll get wrist picks up tomorrow!
  13. OK, I'm on belay. You guys got me to stay past 5 on a Friday, and St. Patty's Day no less. Now, I'm heading out to grab a Guinness. I'll lift one in honor of all of you. Climb on.
  14. Hey all. Just wanted to say that I'm glad to be a part of this community. I've been reading all the welcome messages and it's just nice to see. Thanks Mods! Props to all of you. Climb on.
