  1. Gen based on dial, lume and bezel. It's a beautiful one as well. I love the EXP II! Climb on.
  2. Does anyone have a sub crown and tube? I had one strip out on a sub. I looked on ebay to pick up a gen, but only saw a couple and I couldn't confirm their authenticity. If anyone has one, I'd be interested in picking them up. Thanks. Climb on.
  3. I saw someone wanted one for the 192. Will these work with the 192? I thought that was the Venus Lemania copy movement. If it does, I'm going to have to get another for my new watch! Climb on.
  4. I agree wholeheartedly. I collect reps because I'm thrifty. I originally got into it based on a joke a couple of buddies and I played on our wives while vacationing. They were all out at the spa and shopping and we stopped into this shop that had rollie reps. We each bought one for like $75 and met our wives for dinner wearing shiny new watches. It was funny. Then I started doing some research. I really like the look-always like the look of the genuine EXP II. So I thought, let me try this out, see if I really like it and if it's something I would be willing to drop the money on to buy the gen. Well, all I can say is it's a good thing I did. I really came looking for a white dial EXP II. I bought several and liked the way they wore, but they never did it for me. Then I picked up a black dial EXP II and let me tell you, it's awesome. I love my black dial 2893 EXP II. I could have bought a gen easily with the money I've spent collecting reps and still have some left over. Will I buy a genuine? Probably, but I have a very hard time justifying the expense of servicing a gen-that's my sticking point. The watch may intangibly be worth the expense, but the service fee is a complete ripoff. If and when I make the leap, it will be a black dial EXP II, not white. Glad I found that out. For now though, I'm having fun picking out some really nice watches. And truthfully, you can go out and buy genuine watches in the same price range, but for the pricepoint, our reps are much better watches in my opinion. I have a Citizen Eco-Drive chrono. It has mineral glass, which I've scratched and the steel doesn't seem as high quality. I've been wearing my EXP II rep longer and it simply wears better. I'll also add that collecting reps has enabled me to learn more about watches than I originally anticipated. So now, it's not so much about the collecting as it is learning about different movements, etc., something I never would have done if I just went out and bought the wrong, white dial EXP II gen. So, I've saved money, I have a few nice watches, I've learned more about all watches and I've "met" a great group of guys on this forum. That could all be a rationalization, but that's why I hang out here. Climb on.
  5. 2005Sub, Thank you. I appreciate the link. I will definitely try this one and let you all know how it goes. Climb on.
  6. Hey all. I've read a lot about replacing tube and crown on a sub with a gen recently. What I want to know is, how difficult is it to replace a tube and crown on a rep sub? I don't need gen (although I would be open to that). I have a Joshua sub that the crown isn't tightening down on. I'm torn between replacing the tube and crown or just giving up on the watch. I really like it, so I thought I'd ask for your thoughts-repair it or replace it. Any information would be helpful. Thanks all. Climb on.
  7. Add me to the list for one for my 063. Climb on.
  8. @avitt Thanks. I didn't know that. That's interesting. I thought about just making the purchases and trying to put them together, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to check here first. Climb on.
  9. Hey all. I'm curious, does anyone know if a Jimmyzfu bezel replacement for Panerai will fit on a titanium pam case. I like the look of the ti and ss together on the tantalium and thought I might be able to build the look. If anyone has tried it, I'd like to know. If not, I would greatly appreciate any thoughts on the matter from those of you more knowledgable than I (which is just about everyone!). Thank you in advance. Indy Climb on.
  10. I say 111 or 112-they are pure Panerai to me. I like the logo, but in a curious kind of way, I don't think I'd want to stare at it on my watch dial--that should be clean and crisp and all business. Climb on.
  11. That is freakin' funny, because it's true! Climb on.
  12. Welcome to the community and congrats on your first rep. The waiting is the hardest part. Hold onto your wallet and wear your watch well. Post some pics when you get it. Climb on.
  13. I can think of 2 reasons. A. He's an asshat 2. It really was a bad replica. Checkout the CG on that thing. Climb on.
  14. Welcome back Dave. Having you join us is a postive sign on two fronts. Definitely good for this community and I trust it means you are moving forward after the storm. It's good to see you around. Indy.
  15. Now that is good news! Good to see you around!
  16. I'm tempted often to go out and pick one up. There are two things that I keep returning to that for me, ultimately determine, it's not worth it. One-the cost of servicing the gen. Two-the quality of my reps. Good luck. Climb on
  17. No worries about the response. No offense taken. I understand how reps hurt the genuine manufacturers. I just tend to think in this particular case that harassing a 12-year old kid doesn't address the issue. 18 years old, that's a different story, but 12, c'mon. If you see a gold yachtmaster on a 12-year old (or a TT sub) you know it's a fake. If you see one on a guy who just got a 20K bonus, you can bet it's genuine. I don't think Rolex should "reward" rep buyers, but they could use this opportunity to create some good press by stating "buying a copy of our watch is every bit as distressful as prosecuting a 12 year old kid. Let's stop this on both fronts and that includes prosecuting the sellers and shutting down these markets." They could bring positive attention to the issue, as well as their company, and perhaps win back that sale they lost to the punk kid on his skateboard. Again, if it were an 18-year old, I'd be singing a different tune. Who can say this kid didn't go in to buy a G-shock and was "shown" the bling. Probably not the case, but in my eye, the seller holds the bulk of the responsibility when it comes to this particular incident. He/she knew it was a crime. The 12-year old from Norway didn't know. As it stands right now, the authorities, and Rolex by association, look like a bunch of jerks. I was only suggesting that with some well-planned intervention, they could come out ahead publicly and potentially generate more sales as a result. Climb on.
  18. I wouldn't think it hurts Rolex in this case. A 12-year old kid isn't going to buy a genuine Rolex. But maybe after having a bad rep as a kid (and loving it), he'd purchase a genuine when he was older. Now he just has a bitter experience with Rolex. Perhaps Rolex should step in, offer to pay the kid's fine, give him a genuine Airking--They'd get great press out of it, not that they need it, but the public would respond well to it. Plus they could use it as an opportunity to say "buying/selling reps hurts our company name. Don't do it. We appreciate the efforts of the Italian authorities and we hope they continue to address this issue on both the buyer and seller front." Still can't believe they'd press a 12-year old kid on this. That's ludicrous. What about the 32-year old who knowingly sold it to the kid. There's your criminal. Italy just fell a few notches as a travel destination in my opinion. Climb on.
  19. Just recv'd mine in the mail--looks good, nice and thick. Now I need to see if my watchsmith will put it on for me. I'll try to swing by tomorrow to see when he can get to it. Thanks for all the work on this. Climb on.
  20. I second the Explorer I. I wear one as a dress watch. Certainly believable for a 23 yr. old. I wear mine on a bracelet, but you could put it on a strap. Let us know what you decide and post pics when you get it. Climb on.
  21. This would definitely be one to have in the collection. I remember when Ubi first posted pics of his gen. That's a sweet watch! Climb on.
  22. Photo comparisons between a specific rep and a gen are particularly helpful. There are a couple up right now regarding vintages (edited to add: and the LV). There was one on the Old RWG that compared a JosNana sub to a genuine from watcher1 that was particularly helpful. I couldn't find it here when I searched. Maybe we should be aiming for more of those comparison shots than trying to determine who has the best sub. Clearly, the best sub is the one that has the flaws one can live with at the price one can afford. Those are my thoughts. If anyone has the post from Watcher1, I remember that being a great post. Climb on.
  23. Nope. Wear them with pride. Have to agree with Usil--there's more to this than just wearing them. I feel very confident that I know more about watches than anyone I encounter outside of this forum. I attribute that the this hobby, this forum and to all of you. Ironically, compared to everyone on this forum, I know very little. Climb on.
