  1. If you put the Omega on sale here for $500, you'll have plenty of people, myself included, very interested.
  2. Battery life? Vertu is Nokia, by the way.
  3. If I get this job I've applied for, I'll get the Millionsmart Turbo. Otherwise, I'm waiting for this Aquatimer.
  4. I've been exceedingly boring for about a week and have been wearing this one a little too much. So, today should be no different.
  5. I have so very nearly spent my Aquatimer money on another watch, but my will-power seems to be holding out. When the Seadweller is released, that'll be a real test of will-power, however.
  6. The biggest media fairy tale of all is the one that the "liberal media" controls what we hear. The mere fact that before choosing to believe news or not, you now have to ask who is reporting it speaks volumes. Both sides are lying twunts. The fairy tale of an impartial US media is turning in its grave. ps. There is no Santa; It's your dad in a funny suit.
  7. There are some damned good photos out there in the gen world, but those guys are pros who can sell their pics. You won't find pros selling rep pics, so less of them are drawn to our seedy underbelly.
  8. Where to start ... The camera isn't anywhere near as important as you think. As long as it has a few settings (aperture being important) and having a good up-close range (but not necessarily macro) then any camera will do. Composition, lighting and post-processing are much more important than the kind (or cost) of camera used. Whose photos here do you like? There are a few different styles and picking one you like can help you chose what aspect to learn first.
  9. They're $350 from TTK and others. They used to be rare and hard to find, but these days they're just another watch. What is an MBW?
  10. "This posting has been flagged for removal"
  11. I wonder if the movements from the new (not yet released) Seadwellers would fit in these ...
  12. It seemed superfluous. All I can say is that it's not hard. I used jeweller's files, fine sandpaper and a dremel polishing wheel with jeweller's rouge. If you're replacing the tube, get the face you put the tube in flattened behind the bezel. Gen, gen, rep before work. See the visible metal between the CGs that should be hidden by the bezel? Once I've had a lot more practice, I think I could easily get good at it. Here's my modded 1680.
  13. Nice first post. Pictures would help, by the way, even if you don't think they would.
  14. Looks like we're waiting through another Chinese holiday.
  15. I try my best.
  16. This is very good for the genuine market. Sure it hurts us rephounds, but it's good for the overall watch market.
  17. Well, that makes downloading the race a waste of bandwidth ... Thanks for the results.
  18. Fair enough, you know and I know it's really flat-fee medicine and not free per se, but since when do witty retorts ever have to be pedantically accurate?
  19. ETA will have transitioned to the Valgranges completely by then and Sellita will pick up the ebauche slack. Non-Swatch companies currently buying completed ETA movements will continue to do so and surpluses will be much harder to get, but not impossible. Other companies will switch to Sellita or a far-eastern company. For us, we will have many more Chinese offerings and we'll be happy for the reduced prices, especially when our seconds-at-six has jewels and the 3035 copy kicks ETAs to the kerb. The last two movements are, of course, merely educated supposition. :-)
  20. A watch that's been serviced and runs fast most likely has one of two problems. 1: wasn't serviced. 2: hairspring gummed up.
  21. To hospital. For free. See? That's the kind of witty retort you're allowed to make as an elder statesman.
  22. But they told me it was "ee-gor." Well, they were wrong then, weren't they?
  23. How would you pronunce them?
  24. Get it looked at by a watchsmith.
  25. You must be unfamiliar with IPA. ps. Blon(k)-Pa(ng). It means White Bread.
