  1. I've got two of them. One died and the other I bought dead. Graphite treatment fixed them both, but the blue coating on the hands doesn't take contact that well. Here's what I anticipate will happen to mine: The graphite fix will hold for a while, then need reapplying. That'll hold for a while but will eventually need reapplying and the hands will get more marked. Eventually, the raphite mod will have been applied so much that the inevitable happens and dust gets into the movement necessitating a strip and service. The cycle restarts and the hands keep getting worse. Yet I will keep doing this over and over as it's one of the most beautiful watches available. Buy one like you buy an Alfa Romeo. You know one day it'll crap out and leave you stranded in the rain, but even broken down, it's still a beauty and you forgive it uncontrollably.
  2. I post tutorials and pictorials here and on RepGeek. Some of my earlier ones are available on RWI,before I was banned, but I've turned down requests to have some of mine republished on RWG1.1 as I don't think of that place as a forum as much as a playground. If my articles have any merit, I'd like to think they help bring people to the forums I support or inspire people on the forums I frequent to post their own informative posts. It's part of being a community. RWI no longer has the referrer rule on my images that turned everything into Minazo pictures, but can't bring myself to post threads there. Besides, Fakey is probably posting all the tutorials they need.
  3. So, tell me about this BKWM9 I've heard so much about ...
  4. You know, that's not a bad idea. A proper one, not a technical one. "Dear Gribbley, Antimony & Flatchesty LLP, it has come to my attention ..." No, that's too cruel.
  5. Great photos, I especially like the movement shot through the buckle.
  6. Good luck! I think there comes a time where you need to clear out some reps for a gen.
  7. With the glass on, it looks curved. I believe it's straight. You tell me: Click to embiggen
  8. That's a retail issue, not a manufacturer issue. Remember, websites are blind.
  9. I suspect he pays less bribes than the factories have to. You think the Deep Sea had no design costs? Interesting ...
  10. Love the velcro strap. I need one of those for mine. Oh, and your signature is missing something: "Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the Ark. Professionals built the Titanic" If you believe the tale of the Ark as literally as your signature suggests, then you've got to admit that the amateur had one of the best designers on his side.
  11. Yeah, but the replica makers don't have to pay for design, testing, certification, licensing, advertising, marketing, distribution, wholesale discounts, returns, warranties, duty, taxes ... and still have to sell it to their direct customers (the ADs) for half the retail price. You think Josh, or any other rep dealer, pays income tax?
  12. Sure, as long as you don't pretend the companies are happy you're promoting their brands. It's not corporate greed, by the way, but I'll let you off that one. Rolex aren't overcharging that much if you sit down and do the maths.
  13. It's cheaper than some reps at £287.00. http://www.rotarywatchshop.co.uk/800c.htm I suspect it has a Japanese movement. You'll notice how they stopped calling themselves Swiss quite a while ago. If you like it, it's cheap enough to take a risk on.
  14. There is such a thing as bad publicity. We are the exact opposite of free advertising; we're Brand Dilution. We're the reason Rolex need to reassure the public that Rolexes are the best watches ever. We are the ones that make people think Rolexes are all fakes and therefore not worth buying. Don't think for one minute that Rolex in anyway like us or even respect us. We're a direct bottom line cost to their business. In no way should we ever think we're anything but a royal pain in their sides. It's depressing to admit it, but let's not kid ourselves about it. Good Marketing isn't about getting as much publicity out there as possible, it's about getting the right kind of publicity out there. Let's say Josef Fritzl were photographed with a new-style Yachtmaster on his wrist, and that model were to be known as the Fritzl Yachtmaster, do you think that would help sales? Let's say the Rolex Sub were repped so much that sales dropped directly as a result as no-one wanted to be seen wearing a watch that was an obvious fake. Do you think Rolex would thank us as a community for raising awareness of the Sub? It's time to get real about this and stop pretending in some way we're helping the big brands. We're not. They hate us and they're watching us.
  15. They're all over eBay in the Jewellery section. Item number 160358040026 for instance.
  16. Are you tired of seeing this? If you want to emulate this, what you do is take your picture directly off your camera at 2000 or 3000 pixels wide and attach it to the post. However, if you don't want to do this, what you do is resize the image beforehand. I would suggest about 1024 pixels wide should be the largest you can be certain of attaching without annoying people. Definitely too big - 1920px wide: Possibly too big - 1280px wide: Not too big - 1024px wide:
  17. If you're going to attach photos, could you make sure they're small enough to see? 2048 pixels wide is too big for my laptop. This is all I can see: Click the image to see it in actual size.
  18. Hey, we missed Saturday so here's a catchup. Go on, guess what I'm wearing.
  19. Here are the rules of when a watch is Swiss or not. A Swiss watch Only when it is Swiss, may a watch carry the indications "Swiss made" or "Swiss", or any other expression containing the word "Swiss" or its translation, on the outside. According to Section 1a OSM, a watch is considered to be Swiss if: its movement is Swiss; its movement is cased up in Switzerland; and the manufacturer carries out the final inspection in Switzerland. A Swiss watch movement As we have seen, to be Swiss, a watch must use a Swiss movement. According to Section 2 OSM, a movement is considered to be Swiss if: it has been assembled in Switzerland; it has been inspected by the manufacturer in Switzerland; and the components of Swiss manufacture account for at least 50 percent of the total value, without taking into account the cost of assembly. If the movement fulfills these conditions, but the watch is not assembled in Switzerland, the "Swiss" indication may be affixed to one of the components of the movement. On the outside of the watch, may then only appear the "mouvement suisse" or "Swiss movement" indication. Section 3 § 3 OSM requires that the word "movement" appear in full, and be written in the same type-face, of identical size and colour, as the word "Swiss". http://www.fhs.ch/en/swissm.php
  20. Oh, I forgot. I always carry Betahistine.
