  1. This is the watch (dead, but soon to be revived) Closer ... Closer ...
  2. It's really difficult to explain in words. I'll try to explain in pictures: You need to get the sickle-shaped clamp to turn out. A tiny screwdriver in the lug at its tip is how I do it. YMMV. (thanks to a marker pen, a pad and PhotoBooth on a MacBook, I didn't even need to leave my comfy seat to do that)
  3. Nice. Tudors rock and your work so far looks like you'll convert a few non-believers.
  4. If you imagine an ETA quartz chronograph movement is $50 at Ofrei, it's not at all inconceivable that the replicas with claimed ETA Quartz have indeed got gen ETA/ESA movements.
  5. Simple enough for me to do on mine. If I had AR on it, I'd love it more. I'd say that's possibly the most important mod.
  6. It'll only be worth it if they make a ceramic dial.
  7. Yup. Lovely Pussy Galore is wearing a lovely Pussy Galore. http://doubleredseadweller.com/gmt.htm
  8. For the £514 it would cost me to upgrade, I could just get a Lumix LX3.
  9. Here's one I just took with my iPhone and ... a little help.
  10. I got it from b3ta.com's newsletter. http://www.b3ta.com/newsletter/issue391/
  11. For the last six months, I've been taking a photo with my iPhone every day. I've been doing this for two reasons, partly because I want to demonstrate that the iPhone has a crappy camera and partly because I wanted the discipline of having to take at least one photo every day. However, with the right conditions and a little luck/effort, you can take some ok pictures with it. Absolutely no post-processing at all has been done; these are all as they come, straight off the crappy lens of my iPhone 3G.
  12. Chase Jarvis does a lot of post-processing, so to the iPhone, you can add a few thousand dollars of computer to the bill. However, I don't do any post-processing on my iPhone photos and ... hang on, I'll start a new thread. edit: Oh, and I very much like the work of Chase Jarvis. I didn't mean to sound like I thought he was crap or anything. He shoots knowing what he's going to do with the image. He shoots for the processing he has available.
  13. While I've sold a couple of photos, one paid for my 250mm lens, I'd always consider myself an amateur because that's what I shoot for. I take pictures to take pictures. If I had to do it for a living, I'd lose all interest in the fun side of it. I've lost enough hobbies to jobs as it is.
  14. The 5D MKII is on my "lottery win" shopping list. Such a nice piece of kit.
  15. f16 will give the exact opposite to the selective focusing you talked about earlier.
  16. No, but if you look how far your second hand has swept ...
