This is my 'MBW' 1665 Seadweller: I've not done much to it apart from a genuine pearl, but I've got a genuine crystal and other parts to fit as soon as my 1680 Submariner project is finished. If you're patient, I could sell it to you once its finished and I'lls tart a new one for myself.

Precious Time, Narikaa or TTK if he's got it in UK stock. It really depends on what you're looking for, but if either of those three has it in stock, you get it very quickly (next day?) and with no fear of customs.

They have. See The Zigmeister's review of it ... Coupled with the Valgranges copy in TTK's Chopard GTXL, we're in for a great run of Chinese movements, I reckon. The reason they didn't show up before is that everyone wanted ETAs in quantity. Now that option is disappearing, the good clones are getting ramped up, possibly even from the same assembly lines ebauching the 2836/24 today.

I suspect that this is a result of the recent ETA shortage. Sure, we could have been getting movements before, but I think we'd have noticed. The shortage isn't artificial and it's not going away, so I suspect this will happen more and more. It's up to our dealers to deal with this and it's amusing that it may be safer to buy the new breed of Asian 21j copy movements.

This wouldn't have been visible with a caseback tool. I get the impression that it was only once The Zigmeister opened the barrel that it was obvious this was a PoS movement.

The Dremel should be used only for polishing or removing large masses of metal at the beginning as the rest you really want to be doing with a jeweller's file. Having said that, I used a spinny rough blob (to use its technical name) to ease out the countersinking as my drill bits weren't making a dent in the super-tough steel. It's fun and very good at making you sweat. Oh, and a little table vice should be in everyone's watchmaking kit. It even doubles as a mini-anvil.

It looks cheap, but the funny thing is that the subdials are pointing all over the place and the pushers are screwed in. While this isn't a tell, it's suspect. I'm not going to outright call the guy on it though, as it could just be a lousy pic.

The only way to find out is to get it tested once you've bought it, or pay Trusty's $50 extra for a guarantee.

Well, it's fairly certain I'll be offering it, but obviously only in the EU. I'll need to sort out what liability I can stand to take as it's not my actual business so I'll not have insurance or anything like that. I doubt broken crystals are likely, though.

I'll be in the UK at the end of the month. I will consider offering this service to cover the cost of my own crystals. No PMs on it yet though, please.

Have you also considered a polarising filter? They're excellent for reducing reflections on crystals.
