  1. Here's the PO 45mm on my 6.75" wrist
  2. What is the circumference of your wrist?
  3. I agree. I'd prefer to lose it.
  4. Apparently, some dealers can still get them from their suppliers' stocks, but they're not making them any more. Or at least that's what I've heard. See? It's now a classic.
  5. Good luck, they're discontinued.
  6. To become a classic, a watch needs not to date. This means the MoonWatch is one but the Big Bang isn't. Simple design wins out every time over faddish fashions. How many watches with Carbon Fibre are true classics, for instance? (hint: none) This is why I steer away from the lumpier watches, which seems to be a minor fad theme. Less is more.
  7. Both of those vintage movements are more expensive than a new watch. The Angelus, for instance, would be close to $2000 and still wouldn't fit.
  8. "I believe in Spinoza's God, Who reveals Himself in the lawful harmony of the world, not in a God Who concerns Himself with the fate and the doings of mankind." - Albert Einstein, 1929, in answer to the question "Do you believe in God?" "a person who is religiously enlightened appears to me to be one who has, to the best of his ability, liberated himself from the fetters of his selfish desires and is preoccupied with thoughts, feelings and aspirations to which he clings because of their super-personal value ... regardless of whether any attempt is made to unite this content with a Divine Being, for otherwise it would not be possible to count Buddha and Spinoza as religious personalities. Accordingly a religious person is devout in the sense that he has no doubt of the significance of those super-personal objects and goals which neither require nor are capable of rational foundation...In this sense religion is the age-old endeavour of mankind to become clearly and completely conscious of these values and goals, and constantly to strengthen their effects." - Albert Einstein, 1940 "God does not play dice" - Albert Einstein, 1926
  9. I'm in Europe and I get free transfers with my Bank.
  10. Safely? No. Unless you get a friend to carry it onto a plane, you're out of luck.
  11. That's the point.
  12. Any courier package will normally get checked.
  13. If you use Fedex, the package will be opened by customs. At best, you'll get charged import duty on it. At worst, you'll get humped for import duty price of a gen or have your watch confiscated.
  14. Where does one find these ETA tech sheets?
  15. As an atheist, I realise that this debate will never be won. Phoband may be arguing from the same side of the line as me, but I felt his opinions on how he could win the debate a little ... um, overreaching. What next, solve the Arab/Isreali conflict to the joy of both sides?
  16. I agree that most of those watches are gen. I can't believe that the ceramic-bezelled GMT was even questioned ...
  17. Where are the photos?
  18. I have this problem with a 2836 that is getting replaced with a 2846, so I've decided not to get it repaired. Is it something simple to fix that a beginner can use as his first foray under the dial?
  19. Hi, I'm Pugwash and I'm looking for a fight.
  20. I have no originality at the moment. I looked in my watchboxes and saw a few possible options and went for the easy one.
  21. Out of all my watches, I've had two Panerais with screw-thread problems, one of which was not new, so let's count that as 1. My GMT had a second hand fall off and that was repaired at the dealer's expense (Silix), so that's 2. My Navitimer from Ruby died in its first week and was replaced in a drawn-out amusing story, so that's 3. My Precious Time raffle IWC GST died in its first week, and was replaced quickly, so that's 4. My Ultimate PO had bracelet problems dealt with through ingenuity so I don't count that. Oh, and my MBW 1680 arrived sort of DOA, with the second hand moving but the hour and minutes not. That's a definite DOA so that makes 5. Hang on, my pre-forum datejust died after a few months. Does that count? If so, that's 6. I have over 20 watches, almost 30, so I am glad that my dealers look after me. I don't think that I'm unlucky or that my cash is wasted, though.
  22. Sure, but they turned up at his house to try to change his beliefs. They were ready for it and in some ways deserved it as they obviously had no respects for his beliefs.
  23. Exceedingly.
  24. ps. I wish you all the best paying the WU surcharge while whistling the star spangled banner.
