  1. Seeing as he started before I'd ever received the watches, I don't think so. Still, he's posted this shop's details openly several times and never flamed anyone else using the info.
  2. When I say mods, I actually mean mod. As in just the one. I put an aftermarket insert in with a genuine pearl. Yes, that's right, the pearl makes this officially a FrankenWatch!!! Pug's got himself a Rolex FrankenWatch. Damn, them's good eatin'. I'd like to thank Sherrington for the insert and Ubi for telling me to buy it. Before: After: ps. You can enlarge either of those pictures by clicking them.
  3. Just because I don't like posting the location of a replica stall on the internet does not mean I don't want to help. I wonder what the stall owners think about their address being posted where google can find it. I've never been to the stall and I don't know if the owners would like me getting them on google. If you feel I've not helped this community in any way, then I apologise and will immediately get on to writing some tutorials, reviews and how-to articles, just like you have. Oh, hang on, I got that the wrong way round ... So, the entirety of your flaming is because I didn't publicly post the address of a contraband dealer on the internet? Is that it? ps. You get a better price than my brother does. That must be because the guy knows you.
  4. Ok, to help out, nobody has yet posted a photo of a genuine ETA movement. Everything you've seen so far is Asian and not ETA. The movement pictured in your photo doesn't look that good.
  5. They're good. Very, very good. But the glow of awe around them put me off for a long time. If you're buying one for a watch, it's a little pricey. Good, but not $450 good. If you're buying one as a base for mods, it's the only game in town, and it's a damned good game.
  6. That's no ETA.
  7. Apart from the crystal breaking inexplicably (or so she tells me), it's been Mrs Pugwash-proof. She's had it for the last three months.
  8. Have you ever held one of his dials next to a gen? Just asking, like. I'd say (and this is even after buying two) that the most overrated are the MBW/WM/etc watches. Yes, they're amazing and everyone needs to own one once, but the hype surrounding them is unbelievable. I can confirm several facts to clarify this: They do not turn base metals into gold A Bangkok Best 1680 did not save President De Gaulle's life Jesus was not wearing an MBW DRSD when he turned water into wine The cases are not infused with shards of the Spear of Destiny They do not repel sharks
  9. Ok, let's end this right now before someone comes along and actually thinks this is happening. I'm only going to say it once. You are not going to get these watches at $200 each. Impossible. Even Leo doesn't get them at $200, as his maths is all screwy. He's paying over 7000 baht for them, and that's before you even consider delivery. The guy doesn't do bulk discount (or at least that's what I hear) If I were to consider selling one of mine, it would be closer to $400 than $200. A lot closer. The dollar sucks, remember.
  10. It wasn't someone else that repeated the store, it was the guy asking the question who mentioned the store in his first post ... It wasn't merely mentioning MBK either, it was the tiny little stall in MBK. He even knew it by name.
  11. Long story, but basically, someone on TRC asked if anyone knew of any sites other than the one that sells these watches in Bangkok. I said I didn't, and Leonado called me a liar. Six pages of flame later, we still don't know what his beef was. As for what I paid for them, it was over $200. ($200 is 6720 THB)
  12. And they're right. Some cn 183s do indeed have sapphire. The movement has nothing to do with the case. I have a cn 183 with a G movement and it works fine. Look at the movement to determine if it's good enough-looking for you: This is a cn H movement to compare.
  13. That depends if you want a watch that resembles a gen. On the gen, the crown closes to be flush with the case. On AMK's, the crown has enough gap to apparently push a thumbnail behind and touch the tube. Anything that makes a rep more rep-like than advertised is a flaw and needs replacing.
  14. Pop a replica crystal in it, send it back and see if they put a double-AR in again!
  15. $200? Me too!
  16. oops, double post due to RWG crapping out.
  17. It's IBM transposed one letter backwards. I<=H B<=A M<=L Arthur C. Clarke claims this was unintentional and he would have changed the name if he'd have spotted it. HAL is a backronym for "Heuristic ALgorithmic Computer" meaning he chose the name HAL and then worked out what it could stand for afterwards.
  18. On the PSP, it would have to be LocoRoco. On the PC, the one game that has been on every install of my PC since 2001 is this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sierra-Best-Seller.../dp/B00005JHDT/
  19. Ours is a virtually victimless illegal activity, but it is based on criminal enterprise. Denying that is sticking our heads in sand. Let's face it, we are in the wrong, and that's part of the appeal.
  20. Leonado, thanks for the details on where to find the store. The reason I didn't mention this previously is because the last time we spoke here, you were exceedingly rude and insulting. I didn't want to mention you in case you started posting your incredible venom. Why don't you just start up a business of selling MBWs? It's obviously what you want to do. Can't you just leave me to enjoy my new watches in peace? Give me at least the weekend to be proud and happy before you start up your [censored] machine once more. ps. You never answered my question last time. Why did I need to mention the one stall he'd already mentioned? Your entire diatribe was based on ignoring that crucial point. Feet of clay, Leo. Feet of clay.
  21. This is what Bill is saying. He would know as he's got half the world's MBW watches.
  22. Can you tell I'm very happy? ps. You forgot TTK's WBM moniker.
  23. I already have the gen vintage pearl to install this weekend. ps. Hand tools and crystal press have been ordered from Birdman. We'll be ready to mod!
  24. Simple answer? We don't know yet. The Zigmeister is getting one very soon and will tell us all about it.
  25. Now, I know what I'm wearing today. Everybody probably knows what I'm wearing today. Yes, it's the as-yet-unmodded Bangkok Best 1665.
