You're in the US, right? They can't arrest you for a replica watch or two. You need to be trafficking in watches and have a few hundred for sale before they arrest you.

I'll be honest, I've seen a lot worse for more money. I think it's a good one for 22 quid, but I've not yet seen the movement.

Gotcha. I was trying to see which one you were replying to. Yeah, try messing with customs in any country and you're going to get intimate enough with a pair of rubber gloves that you'll have to marry them in some countries. You'd be amazed at the amount of power customs guys have. If you annoy them too much, they will pull a gun on you and you wake up dressed in orange listening to some disgruntled Muslims in the Gitmo cell next to you.

French customs agents are trained in spotting fake Lacoste shirts, LV and Hermes bags, etc., this is pretty much public knowledge. (example: BBC article or Star article) Is it that hard for you to imagine they can't tell Faulex from Rolex?

I was honoured to win the November Post of the Month, and the prizes generously donated by Sash arrived yesterday evening. It's great because I was looking for a new wallet (moving back and forth between France and Scotland for the next few months - one wallet per currency) and you can never say no to a new pen, especially one this nice. The cuff-links and tie-clip, I'll keep in case I need cuff-links, but it's rare that I ever do - maybe they'll end up in someone's xmas stocking. Anyway, the Wallet and Pen have immediately been pressed into service, as they're both excellent items, and therefore these will be the only pristine pics of them as they're about to get used properly. If you owned an expensive gen, you'd know to fill in the form (carnet?) leaving your home country, putting the serial number on the form and declaring it. Yes, some gen watches come with a visa sized card to keep in your wallet for this occasion. No-one does it, though.

They're not pulling you over for reps. They're pulling you over for trying to smuggle gen watches without paying the import duty. If they catch a rep, they may not know and you may be taxed on the gen value.
