  1. I lilke RavishingRick's sig, even if it's completely and utterly misattributed: "Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music." -- Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989 The CEO of Nintendo from 1950 to 2002 was Hiroshi Yamauchi. "Ah! Bloody Pacman....It is my joke. I wrote it, then I took the rest of the day off as I was so chuffed with it. I am gutted that it has been claimed and passed around by so many people. Intellectual property law will not save me, the false claims will continue until I am man enough to give it all up. All I can say is -- it seems that it is very unlikely that it was written by a Nintendo employee in 1989, being as Pac Man was still around and not much of a childhood memory, there were very few claims that gaming influenced childrens behaviour, and that the wording of it is identical to how it has been deliverd in my stand up routine for 6 years! For those that are interested it has also been attributed to Bill Gates, but then so has Windows! Bitter? Well perhaps just a little. It was sent to me by someone at Channel 4 a few years back after I did it on Channel 4 in a late night stand up show! Hope that clears everything up." - Marcus Brigstocke, Comedian ... but it's a dead famous quote.
  2. You may still be able to do this via your mobile.
  3. No-one has ever picked up on what mine says ...
  4. This is also why prop watches are used, like prop cars. Sometimes the item is too expensive to use in an action scene. Car companies get upset by it, like in Miami Vice as I already mentioned. What about fake magazines and paintings? It happens and sometimes it's too much hassle to clear the rights. Sometimes, the rights holders get involved and the items get 'fixed' for the DVD, like in Devil's Advocate with his chair. Yes, it's illegal, yes it happens and yes, sometimes they get pulled up on it.
  5. Just wanted to get these posted before I went to bed. It's just turned Wednesday here, as you can see by the day-wheel trying to change. It's my Sashwatch IWC Flieger Chrono. Damned nice it is too!
  6. The 6 is for running seconds. The 3 is chrono minutes and the 9 is chrono hours. The big second hand is chrono seconds.
  7. Precious Time is an excellent dealer. I've got several watches from him in the past. Good choice.
  8. If you're in Europe, you're best off getting it from Narikaa. He calls it his NymphoMarnier.
  9. This is the one I chose - the best $100 you'll ever spend, TTK's Noobmariner: However, GioArmani recently wrote an excellent Sub rant you may want to read before deciding. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=164640
  10. Because V vouched for you, I'll offer my advice: $100: TTK Noobmariner $200: Trusty's best $300: Jos Nana's best. Simple, eh?
  11. What's your budget? I presume you're after a 16610 Sub and not a vintage ... ps. You do realise how daft this post makes you look, right? 50 posts and still "who has the best sub?"
  12. groan
  13. That's where my money would have been, too.
  14. My new IWC Flieger Chrono is pretty damned close. It's just missing three dots in the minutes subdial though. Time to go dial shopping, maybe?
  15. It gets several seconds of screen time. Look at the hideousness! (Actually, it looks quite good, apart from the wrong shaped indices, the sweeping seconds and the bloody obvious faux chronos. Edit to change the large PNGs to small JPEGs
  16. I'll go make one. Anyone got a timestamp on the scene? Quick edit: Found it, it's ripping. I'll have it in 2 mins.
  17. I mentiuoned this, but he was travelling with Ms Edge and she wouldn't have been up for it. I think this trip was for her, not us.
  18. Not really. I believe you're seeing internet-homophobia which is a poor cousin that's shrouded in the mathematics that you can't be too homophobic as percentagewise, we should have several gay members and one of them could be that guy you chat with a few times a week. Let's face it. Some of our best friends are gay and we don't even know it. How homophobic can you really be knowing that? And I'm not just talking about on the internet.
  19. Yet people do. Oh, and Miami Vice famously used a counterfeit Ferrari. This upset Ferrari enough for them to donate a Testarossa for the later episodes.
  20. Ewan McGregor, Hugh Grant, Orlando Bloom ... Hang on, that's almost all European actors.
  21. Well, the thing about that 111h is that I've never come across groups of men discussing the suppleness of their leather straps as much as on Panerai forums. Never.
  22. See, you're just being hopeful there.
  23. Most Panerais in movies belong to the actors wearing them.
