  1. Layers? Real men mask.
  2. Swiss 7750 with seconds at 9? I presume you mean ETA 7753, as the 7750 is a 12-9-6 layout. The 7753 is great, apart from the subdials are off.
  3. I feel the same about the Panerai logo. It's ok on the end of the crown, but don't print it on the dial, please.
  4. Yay! I wonder what pseudonym he'll rejoin under
  5. It's probably got a Springbar.
  6. Is that it? Were you trying to get banned?
  7. I believe in the competition between factories that has increased the quality. Of all the replicas made, most are useless junk we'd never even look at. These junkers sell by the bucket-load.
  8. Excellent. The more you practice, the luckier you'll get.
  9. I'm currently working on an IWC replica guide, much like a rip-off of By-Tor's definitive Omega guide. Everything is falling in place and the information should be ready for me to round it out by the time my Portuguese Chrono arrives. However, if enough people don't donate, I may not have a site to post this article to, so please donate so I can work up the motivation to complete my article! Won't somebody think of the childr...watches! ps. Ken, Admin, will that do as a pledge-drive post? pps. Anyone got any good IWC reviews they'd like included, mail the links to me. Don't PM as my box is too full.
  10. Excellent project, but that's way too much light. It took me a while to experiment, but I found myself using less and less watts until I'm now on either 2x20w or 2x40-60. Your individual needs will vary, of course, but try adding a third light at the top and covering the lens with something like sunglasses.
  11. It should go fshshshshshshshshshsh...rkrkrk or similar. Also, 18 hours is a little short. I'd expect over 36.
  12. Thanks, Ken. This guy doesn't deserve to use the resources this site provides. Imagine you donate to keep this site afloat and all you're doing is subsidising this leech.
  13. Maybe next week, even.
  14. So, he's happy to use rep parts but not to work on reps. He's only willing to break Rolex's rules on his terms when he can make cash off it?
  15. Sorry to hear that. It's like a lottery. If you lose, you're paying for those that win. Next time you see a low price from Paulmart, try to imagine which fellow member you're taking the few dollars you've saved off. It's been a while since I've done one of these, so in honour of Insane ... PAULMART "We steal from your friends and pass the savings on to you."
  16. Mine was just recalled from shipping so he can slip my replacement 183 (stripped lug screw) in the same package. I'm not complaining, and am in fact very, very happy.
  17. Well, Sunday was fun. Unfortunately we all had lives to get on with and couldn't waste the evening away in good company. Anyhow, as promised, here are two photos. The first is the reprobates known as Usil, Pugwash and Ryyannon. The second is the Paneraifest that was our wrists. I turned up with my Rolex GMT, but had to change to conform to the Paneraicult that controlled the table. Damn, I need a haircut!
  18. 99% of reps get better.
  19. What the Scots are trying, however subtly, to do is explain that the team is Celtic, not Glasgow Celtics. It's short for "Sell Tickets", hence the pronunciation. Howay the Tic!
  20. The boycot of croc leather isn't something I really have to do as I already have a personal boycot of croc and ray. It's just the fact of doing something by which you remember someone. Imagine every time you see a Croc strap for sale and you remember the great work Steve "Crikey" Irwin did, you've remembered, if nothing else.
  21. Yes. It's based on the reactions of others, therefore is conditional. I hate to be this pedantic, but there are so many of the teasers that demand exactly this level of pedantry.
  22. Did you need to repost his entire post though?
  23. Actually, the answer does depend on if clauses. If nobody answers, you know what you're wearing. That's a conditional. I have figured out how this hat trick works and it does work on a conditional.
  24. You've missed an important point. Dealers get bulk discount too. If a dealer knows he's got 30 sales on a group buy for a watch he was going to buy two of, he's instantly in the next discount bracket with his distributor. He gets $25 off each watch and passes the savings on to us directly. He makes the same profit per watch as normal, but gets volume of sales to increase his profit that month. (Numbers are of course hypothetical) You also assumed a dealer would have the 30 in stock in the first place and would have shifted them at the regular price point in that week. As you can see, I haven't commented on your philosophy, just your maths: They don't add up. Your philosophy, however is a different matter and deserves a more pondered reply. Another time.
  25. Excellent idea.
