  1. As I'm neither Liberal nor on the receiving end of US police tactics, this makes no sense. Oh, and what's a Janet Reno?
  2. Remember Kent State, 1970. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kent_State_shootings
  3. Working PR. Excellent. I wonder what's going on with the angled date wheel though.
  4. He pronounced it that way because that's the way it's pronounced in some parts of England. No great mystery.
  5. How many Christians choose the name they're born with? Oh, that'd be none. McCain is the one who changed one of his children's names (Bridget - yes, it's an unusual case) to something Christian, if you want to play that game. As for the religion of a person being dictated by their name, let's start with Benjamin Franklin. Was he Jewish? What about Abraham Lincoln? Does it matter what they're called? In fact, I'm calling you out. You're being racist.
  6. Oh, and here's some maths I did next door that I thought I'd share: Never. He's still alive As for other presidents dying in office, it's happened EIGHT TIMES. In fact, we are currently at the longest run without a president dying in office since the early 1800s. William Henry Harrison, Zachary Taylor, Abraham Lincoln, James A. Garfield, William McKinley, Warren G. Harding, Franklin D. Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy all died in office. The Following VPs became Presidents: * John Tyler - death of William Henry Harrison * Millard Fillmore - death of Zachary Taylor * Andrew Johnson - assassination of Abraham Lincoln * Chester Arthur - assassination of James Garfield * Theodore Roosevelt - assassination of William McKinley * Calvin Coolidge - death of Warren Harding * Harry Truman - death of Franklin Roosevelt * Lyndon Johnson - assassination of John Kennedy * Gerald Ford - resignation of Richard Nixon Now, if you do the maths, of the 42 presidents (no, not 43) you've ever had, 9 have been promoted from the office of Veep. That's a 27% chance Palin will be president of the US on past form, not even taking McCain's health into account. Over one-in-four chance she will be president if McCain wins the election. Once? Maybe? Are you kidding?
  7. An energised race is a good race. The more people are actually talking about politics, one way or another, the better informed the voters are.
  8. It's a new avatar. I think I'm way too geeky for this crowd if no-one's got it just yet. As for the news item, time will tell whether or not it was a home-grown terror plot or a genuine abuse of power. Let's sit back and wait and see.
  9. http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/200...aids/index.html Wow, I thought you had laws against that kind of thing?
  10. That's why I clarified. MAY is not pronounced how you think it is.
  11. Oh-Meh-Gah. The "MAY" is pronounced like the french "MAIS", ie. without the Y sound at the end.
  12. What site? Palin is slightly-right wing, possibly right of Ghengis Khan, so don't expect moderate views from her.
  13. There are three pronunciations. oh MEE guh oh MAY guh OH mahgah They're all 'correct', but if you want to be absolutely and utterly pedantic, if you're not putting on a French accent and saying it swiss-style, it's wrong.
  14. ...and people still don't believe replicas hurt gen sales?
  15. Congrats on the camera. I hope to see results soon!
  16. There are no Moslems running though, so what does this have to do with anything?
  17. RWI did the whole collaboration watch thing better than RWG1. How? They got rid of the collaborative element. Still, you don't see many people proudly displaying them, much like the only time you see RWG1 watches is when Gran gets drunk and starts waving his around. It's a bad idea, and it should be obvious why: It's not a replica. This entire hobby is based on replicas of big brand watches. While some of us do like cheap gens from time to time, the founding principle that attracts people to this forum is we want big names without the cost. How on earth anyone ever gets to the point (and it happens every 12-18 months, from what I see) that they think a non-replica, non-branded, amateur-designed watch will appeal to the people here who are here because they like big brand copies. Of all the items one could choose to wear to show forum allegiance, a watch should be the last choice as it's exactly the opposite of what we're here for.
  18. Still has it, to be honest. That's quite good longevity.
  19. It's a Soprod power-reserve module. Have a google for soprod+6498 and you'll see a few watches use it.
  20. I'm sorry to say, but the Big Bang is done. It's no longer even remotely fashionable, I'm afraid. Lite, super-ceramic, whatever, they're all pass
  21. ... when she sits naked in the mud?
