  1. Excellent new episode in the Submariner saga. Thanks to all involved.
  2. Some ETA-branded pieces are made from Ebauches. That means some of them will look wildly different, but still have ETA parts.
  3. We're due a flare up about now. Complacency has set in.
  4. ETA sell movements to anyone. Apparently, in the far east, they're under $100 available in any quantity you want. However, the replicas are significantly cheaper.
  5. Forget Windows Mobile for the future. The battle is going to be between Android and the iPhone. Windows Mobile is already marginalised and Blackberry can only hide behind allegedly owning Push email for so long. Sure, buy a Windows smartphone now, but just be aware you're backing a losing horse in the long run. ps. Symbian? Long dead, but it still twitches, giving the appearance of life.
  6. Really? Where's the iPod? iTunes? Multi-touch Google Maps? CSS-compliant browser? Yes, you can replicate the functionality, but at the cost of the usability.
  7. Location, location, location. Help us help you.
  8. He'll do fine on Sunday.
  9. http://website.lineone.net/~mouser/motorsp...ults.htm#round2 8th in race 1, 7th in race 2.

Nice one. Good depth of field even for f5.6
  11. You're kidding right? Toseland has contested Superbikes and Supersport at Donington riding in the British series.
  12. I've got these two, but I seem to have lost the momentum to finish the projects. Gen crown, tube, tropic, pearl. Low-beat ETA 2846. Gen tropic, Watchmeister datewheel. I don't wear the 1680 for some reason.
  13. Toseland could get a podium. However, he's got no chance at the top step as both Dannii Pedrosa and Valentino Rossi go well here. My predictions (and yes, I've bet real money on them, thanks to bwin's sportsbook) are that Edwards will outqualify Pedrosa, Toseland will get a podium and Rossi will win. Oh, and Simoncelli will once again somehow miraculously win the 250cc race. For the outside bets, look to Hopper and Vermuelen as they both go well here and are due a result, in spite of their vastly inferior machinery. One or both in the top 6. If it rains, Vermuelen could be on the podium. Oh, and how well can Toseland go at Donnington? Here's a photo I took last year at the World Superbike race: Note lack of anyone near.
  14. Does it? No-one told me that and I commute an hour each way to work, using the iPhone continuously to browse, mail and watch movies. Every weekday.
  15. Sure, if your Exchange server uses ActiveSync. However, most enterprises that use BES tied into Exchange won't feel the need to get ActiveSync set up. Or you can get mobile.me to have Exchange, but I can't see enterprises paying for that either. And of course, you can use Yahoo mail (even on a 1st gen iPhone) to get Push, but let's face it, who wants a yahoo address when they're trying to look serious? So, yes, the 2.0 does Push, but you need the infrastructure. If you're working for a Blackberry-biased enterprise, you'll be hard-pressed to get Push on your iPhone.
  16. I have a record player that gets used. I don't have a CD player in my hifi, in fact. I have a direct-drive turntable and an iPod plugged into a decent enough amp and speakers.
  17. What are your email needs? Do you need Push email? I mean really, really need it? Will 5 minutes not knowing you have a mail cost you money? Typing emails is nicer on an iPhone and you can, with the iPhone 2.0 software out in July, read DOC, XLS, PDF and PPT attachments on the iPhone, using the pinch-zooming and scrolling of the iPhone. You have to know you'd prefer a Blackberry to want one.
  18. iPhone: Best web experience of all the phone options. Mail? Apart from the lack of Push (unless you use Yahoo), it's the best mailer out there too. v2.0 of the iPhone software brings Push with Exchange's ActiveSync. The typing is a red herring. I'm faster on an iPhone than I was on T9 and I'm about the same as I was on a Blackberry. Oh, I'm faster than I was on a Blackberry Pearl. However, the typing wins when you change keyboards to foreign layouts. Try that with a fixed keyboard.
  19. Which country is that?
  20. Whereas Statham wore a Panerai Daylight 196, iirc.
  21. Today, it's the same as yesterday:
  22. Filters in front of the lens? No. Filters in Photoshop? And how! This started life as three photos. The sensor is clean. The dust spots are an artefact of the HDR process.

I'd start with looking into that sort of thing. You're listing some exceedingly fancy bits of kit yet you're missing some basics, like a decent fast lens. If I were you, I'd learn more about your camera before spending money, unless the cash is fun money.
