  1. Now i know the rules and normaly keep to them but i just had to do an AD test with this one. I went to an AD that was a jewlers as well as opposed to a out and out watch place, no the sales staff dont really know that much but i asked about a leather band for the SFSO and the lady asked to see the watch, duely i handed it over and she took it in the back room to check with someone as to the sise. A good 10 mins later she returned with the watch and cataloge (phew) to see if it was the calf leather one i was after. I said yes and off she went to get one. I have to say the rep strap feels far better than the gen! i am not joking the rep one feels nicer. The only difference i could see is that where the sizes are stamped in to the strap on the gen it was not as deep as the rep and looked to be coloured black as well. Now please every one dont all run off to the local AD waving your SFSO under their noses especialy the asian non AR one as it will get picked up in a sec, and the AD i was in was not full of WISes it was a sales outlet full of nice ladied who sell earings to rich people. Next time i will try a better shop and if i do get picked up i will blame ebay (but i doupt i will get picked up). The moral of this story is you dont have to worry TOO much about going into an AD but please dont rub it in and tell them all it is a rep if you do. So now flame a way, i just had to test it!
  2. I started collecting watches with West End Watch Co watche's as they had a military side to them, many were issued to the Indian Army and has swiss works, i will have to take a couple of photos and put them in here. I belive a lot of the early ones made there way back to UK on the wrists of soldiers after service in the near east.
  3. Thanks Ziggy and SSurfer but this is a simple problem, some times i read these problems and just wait to here what Ziggy says and learn from that, 2 year ago the only thing i would never take apart was a watch, cars, bikes and guns yep but a watch Noooooooo way! but since reading this board i have repaired my own vintage omega, a vintage 1940s invicta bumper and built 2 complete watches, i just like to help others with what i have learned here.
  4. It is Seiko SQ100 Pilot chrono, the one had have for gulf 1 was better though it had a white face and digital chrono so i could write the main details of fire plans in the face with a fine lumicolour (sharpie for the Americans) no mater what happened i would know where not to be at the wrong time as it was around my neck and if i lost that i had nothing to worry about any way.

  9. Thanks HFC, i admit that my speeling wes never te beast but when it was produced they made a great leap forward in time keeping. But hey i am no expert either.
  10. My war watch this has earned its rest in the box, its seen sand and snow good times and many bad and i wont wear it again untill i have to, and that is hopefully never!
  11. Go and do some reasearch come back and then coment when you know what a torbillion actualy does, or did when they were first designed.
  12. Well if this a manual (unitas style) and not an auto,Sounds to me like the screw that holds the crown in the keyless works has worked loose and alowed the groove in the stem to come past where it should, should not be hard to fix if that is what it is, just remove the case back and nip it up lightly, with the back of the watch facing you and the crown at 3 oclock the screw should be on the bridge just left and above where the stem goes into the movement. Just gentaly screw it in and that should solve it.
  13. I tell you what would sell! Individualy numbered fiddy case backs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Well it has been a railmaster day today but iam fighting the urge to change back to this
  15. Welcome J, you will like it here. and keep up the good work!
  16. I dont have any pictures handy but all you have to do is rotate the retaining ring untill the flats on the inside of that line up with the flats in the outside of the pinion and bearing and it will come right off, i assume that there is a proper 4 pronged tool but you can also do it with a screw driver.
  17. That being all said why are we not getting the supporting vote we need!
  18. Panerais yes that pink strap no sorry it just looks cheep Sorry but that is the way it is.

  21. Belive me when you hold both in your hand you would never know which was gen, a lume shot would show the rep yes but also non EVERY other non modded rep. And the triangle at 12 would not glow either, unless you are a member here and have disected every tiny flaw (and we are very picky) this is a TOP REP unless the AD you went into is as into spotting reps as we are i doupt the normal staff would ever spot it!
  22. I think that the main difference between the rep and the Gen 250 is that the Gen costs more
