  1. Hi Guys on a lighter note from some of the other things going on i thought i would post some info. My MK XVI Well it arrived with a bad crystal gasket to start with, The AR was not of the standard that i like the lume was a bit crap, the movement had low amplitued, it was not water resistant, on top of that the seconds hand was too fat and the date wheel is a bit poo. But on the whole still better than a lot of gen watches in the $200-$300 price range and now after the out lay of less than $100 and a few hours work, weaqual to watches well over that price range. So what did i have to do to get it to the standard i wanted? Well as the crystal had to come out any way that got sent to sweelwatches.de for AR but i needed a new gasket, i mesured it to be a 342 0.8, and the closest i gan order is a Sternkreutz 340 0.8, well it fits well and i have a couple left, so that is the AR and the crystal sorted. The seconds hand was too fat so that was sanded and repainted (but i would still like to get a gen seconds hand if one comes avaialable. The hands and dial were relumed with Tritec, that solves the lume problems The movement was serviced and now runs far better. A very good friend happend to be able to order me a gen date wheel and it fits the asian movement perfectly, the detials are in the 7s, 4s and 1s, even when compared with an ETA one but here is the rep and gen Quite a difference, but dont ask me to get you one, this was a one off! Now the water resistance, as you all know (or at least those that read any thing i postz that i want my reps water resistant and i have 2 WR testers to check them, a dry vacume one from Elma and a Bergeon & ATM wet tester. Now after the crystal gasket issue i was expecting probelem there but i was supprised that the problem was in the case back gasket, after cleaning and relubing a couple of times it was still leaking like a leaky thing!! The issue is the supplied gasket is a 0.6mm one and it is just not fat enough to fill the gap, what you need is a 37mm out side diameter 0.8mm o ring. Now if some one knows where to get one let me know as non of my suppliers have one. So i had to make one from a larger 0.8mm gasket (not dead easy) but with that done it passes 5 ATM. Before i forget the rep strap is a shit as well, so a BOB 20mm moo croc pilot was added and i think i am done, so a couple of pics And the wriist shot Comments? thoughts?
  2. its in the rules if you have not read them, and the reason is that it brings us bad attention from the AD which then goes up the chain to Corperate and then back down the chain in the way of tighter parts supply, law suits ect http://www.rwg.cc/to...ur-forum-rules/ [25] - Do not visit an AD (Authentic Dealer) with your replica watch and show it of as the real thing. If you do so, we are not interested in hearing about it. Such post will be deleted.
  3. Welcome jez Go to the man page and you will find the sellers list
  4. Mary is watch international http://www.rwg.cc/forum/240-watch-international/

  6. I got one from Mary that i Built a franken, with gen every thing except the case and bezel
  7. Stunned!!!! At first i did niot belive that you fitted a gen movement ect in such a cheep case but lit looks good! How was the T19 fitting with the case and retaining ring, did it need any work? Get a better pearl on there though that is quite off set, But still stunning
  8. I think I may have a set of 455s in my spares box at home. When I get there on Monday I will have a look
  9. That is always a possibility but as we were talking about the markets in china and around the world and the fact he shops in the markets in china he would have seen lots I reps being sold
  10. Spurred on by a couple of recent posts about people trying to pass reps as gens I thought I would recount a recent encounter I had. I was in a hotel bar in an African country chatting with a fellow englishman who lives in Beijing but travels extensively and we were discussing the prices of things around the world and what you can get in different places, so I commented on his 'white dialed, auto, black date wheel, non AR, thin crown, silver subdial panerai. Now thinking he would say yep just like this watch he had bought in Beijing, and we could engage in a bit of rep conversation, but that was not the case he insisted that it was made in 1959 and a special edition worth a lot and no amount of polite hinting was going to Change his mind. Now this guy has a very well paid job and could if he wanted to have any amount of gens or pull off any good rep as gen just by his status but insists on trying to bluff a total fantasy cheep rep as gen. The shame is that if he has been more open in admitting I would have directed him here so that he could learn a bit if he was interested.
  11. This looks interesting any coments on the dial here
  12. OK I will bring this up in the Admin Area
  13. That crown looks better though! shame about the width of the Submarina text though

    Wondering.

Have you been drinking again??? When you pull the crown to the had set position then if it is a hacking movement then it will stop anyway, if it is non hacking then it wont
  18. Most seikos with SQ100 and 150 dont have screw down crowns either and are still water resistant, you just need to check the o rings are in good condition, in place and lubed, but the only way to be certain is to get a watch smith to check it in a vacume or pressure tester.
