  1. well, thats about what i was thinking, 80 ish in USD + ship i really like this wood, i have some other projects and woods i have to use up, but i think you guys would like it to seeing it in person, its a very semi glossy smooth as glass feeling. This is definitely my new favorite one.

    i am back

"don't call it a comeback, i been here for years, rackin my tears . .. or something" hey, man sorry about your troubles. I'm facing very similiar life changes, its tuff out there. especially when its tuff at home.
  3. Thanks, i had fun making it, last night. I think that [censored] out i did on the bottom is a little more than i envisioned, but it looks cool If i make more like this - (i have to order more wood and kits) would any be interested in buying something like this or similiar and at what price. I will tell you this particular pen costs close to 25-30 dollars for the materials but the all black one would only be around 15$ for materials. It generally takes me 1.5 sometimes 2 hrs to work a pen. in lawyer numbers thats 225 an hour but, what is a fair price for something that has lots of love and care - and, has parker ink.
  4. So what watch will this pen go with (THIS IS A GENERAL TOPIC< BECAUSE I"m ASKING ABOUT PENS GOING WITH WATCHES) Well, here is what i think will be my top of the line pen - The Godfather. Its an expensive one o make because it comes from 2 different sets of pen pieces i'm also going to make an all black on black version called Luca now, this one isn't for sale, but would you guys be interested in something like this? african ebony wood. the gold is 24k plate these are hard to shoot, but teh wood has amazing coloration in it a little green as well as mostly black thoughts
  5. yeah, ,those are special, but if you dont plan on spending at least a grand, don't bother. or you could research chris52?? - which is his number, he is the forum's godfather of skeletons or, screw the skeleton and get a real tourbillon from homer. the movement is much more interesting than the skeleton
  6. i'd search for who currently owns the custom pvd skeleton i made and offer lots of $$ for it http://www.rwg.cc/members/FS-Custom-PVD-Sk...hoband+skeleton
  7. I have lost my first watch to customs - at least presumably, sending it back to china for repair of faulty 7750- which is my first faulty 7750 I really

  9. boggles my mind, big watches are in, same damn watch with just a little mroe space on the dial crazy. I knew to, that making that one part of the movement decorative isn't a big deal, i just can't figure

  11. thing is, i don't know fountain pens, and if i'm going to work on a pen for 2 hrs, i don't want to put some china town cheap mechanism in it.

  14. you can get all kinds of free software on the jailbreak to, although there is a crackdown on it by the people that write the jailbreak software. Here is the thing, i put a whole bunch of crap on my phone and never used it that intelliscreen thing though, thats worth the 10 bucks and the jailbreaking thing all day all night

  18. well, i have the blessing to sell a handful of pens that i'm going to be making. As many of you saw, i have taken to a new hobby, its alot of fun, and a good way to quell the stress, not to mention i get to enjoy the outcomes. I give them as gifts and i need to sell a few to i have to make back some of my investments, if you haven't caught on yet, i just went bankrupt so, gotta pay for the habit. i wanted to share a few things about my current thoughts. 1. i'm' not really planning on taking 'orders" I'm pick up woods and pen packs as i see stuff thats interesting. I have some "designs" that i have come up with that are really freaking cool or at least i think so. I also have a group that i have worked the kinks out of. 2. i am not sure of the price point, but it will be a combination of materials cost, complication of the build, and time involved, plus PP fees and shipping. In general it takes 1-2 hrs of work to create a pen, i'm working these to work very well. The pieces themselves are awesome. The wood is very solid, i have the proper equipment about 1k worth to do the job right. I use upgraded inks- i prefer and find most others prefer Gel ink - its a rollar ball trying to write like a fountain pen, i'm using parker gel ink inserts. i suppose if someone really wants black or blue thats easy to change. If i have both available. 3. the reaction from people i have gotten so far has been, WOW how did you "make" this. 4. I'm excited to share my hobby with others, i want people to appreciate the pieces, use them, and make you happy. I would take great pleasure in knowing something i created is enjoyed by others. 5. I will do some acrylic work, however, acrylics are harder to work with and dull the tools easier so, although it seems like the plastic pen should be cheaper, it will be slightly more. I only have 1 acrylic design in mind. unless your wive's want Purple or Pink pens, the women here have flipped out on the purple and pink acrylics. 6. I will do he pens when i get a chance.. I have a huge workload and a family, sometimes i get sometime to do it, sometimes i can't sleep and will knock one out at 3 in the morning like i did last night 7. i'm going to see if i can get a really nice 2 tone indian rosewood cigar pen done tomorrow, not sure if i have the tubes we'll see how it goes. Some pieces will be thinner at the part where you hold it, the size of a blue bic regular pen, some thicker, i personally like the thicker ones, but if there is feedback for the thinner ones, i have those too. the women, my mom, mother in law, some in the office seem to gravitate to them. 8. I'm excited - couple of bucks to finance this hobby, and i have been missing a really great creative outlet for some time. I grew up making music that others enjoyed, this is a little piece of that. 9. Finally, the wood pens, will be polished, so they will have a new polish look, but with any wood object over time it will loose some of the glossyness, but thats what gives it, its character or patina right well, thanks for listening, i hope there are some of us out there that still have some cash to put down on a nice piece of personalized art. oh, wait, 10. each piece is a 1 off, slightly thicker, thinner, color variations in the wood slightly longer. So, there is no mass production, each is literally a piece of art. I have had to find the balance between art and function and i'm starting to feel pretty good about my work. thanks for listening - wish me luck. - and although i don't plan on taking "orders" as you see the pieces i'm doing feel free to give me some feedback on what you would like to see offered and if i have the pieces i can work on it. Darker, more variation, SS 2 tone PVD for now, no fountain pens, I don't have one, i don't have a working use of the parts i have access to, - i'm only offering up to the board what i know i would feel comfortable handing to my boss as a gift.
  19. anyone else have fun explaining to their wife the double meaning to the genious line in the terminator show friday night. i think it was - something like "that watch, has complications" for the people htat don't know, there is no watch in the case, its a switch to blow up a friendly robot. - there is a running conflict if its a good thing the robot is there or not so you have the complication of the show story line, and one hell of a complication in a watch case - a trigger to a bomb anyway - obviously, someone knew something about watches, but it was such a genius line, i had to sshare
  20. you mean like one of the crazy features on one of the watches we all covet has a practical use? say it ain't so? i thought i was the only one not diving to 3000 feet with my steelfish
  21. thats awesome my top was i had a jam band with a trumpet player that toured with buddy rich. i'm only 34, so i'd probably have rather played with the crue, But swiss addict --- SO FUNNY this whole day started out with me jammin to tunes in my office, hten one of the paralegals came by she likes concerts shes in my same age group, so it was cool to find someone to go with, i have no friends left that will go Anyway - i was making my pitch for DIRT being one of the top 5 or 10 best Metal albums of all time. so, the crazy music started with chains. The damn traffic had me turn the notch up to and justice though this forum has always been more than a band of watch addicts, friends - good times and bad
