i was going to say that, so, i guess, - ditto i think there are definitely watches that are amazing and worth several thousand - but, i would say 90% of all high end watches are BS inflated pricing - and people are buying names or buying the sales pitch -- as pointed out by robbie. By the way i usually wear polo shirts "To work" so to speak, and people ask me why i don't wear suits- and, its because, the people that i know that are really rich - i.e. own 3 gets - a G4, G3 and a hawker - and others, they don't dress fancy, in fact, they are usually trying to downplay their status. basically the people that flaunt it, are usually the people that don't have it.

i take time off occasionally, but i always come back, if not for the watches for the community. i've gone through the same issues that your feelin - the ups the downs the uncertainty and the priority of time. Best of luck with your efforts. are you still buying those AP straps?

try jewelry exchanges - look for a watchmaker that is hungry - and needs some work. I ask them if they will work on ETA / swiss / other high end rep watches - usually they will say no - because people get mad that it costs 100$ to fix - when they paid $60 for a watch. make sure to tell them you understand its just as expensive to work on a rep as it is a gen - and you can even tell them you maybe able to source the parts if there are needed parts for a repair. build a relationship start out by just asking for simple things - change hands, pop out a crystal - don't go in and say, this is broken, not sure whats wrong build up a trust then ask him to do more difficult things

Morons - Zenith made the first automatic chronograph mov't - it beats at a cool 36.6 zenith used to make the mov'ts for teh older daytonas before they went in house - this is a timeless watch for watch collectors - and WILL never go out of style (except for it being large) and there is a 40mm version, although i'd go big if you have never tried one on - stop what your doing - (if your in NYC) and go find one - they wear twice as good as the juicy photos. this watch looks impressive to non watch types - like grandma and Zenith will always be a collector item and the El Primero might be one of the best movements (automatic - without ridiculous complications) EVER This watch has it all collector Value History AMAZING Movement wow appeal (for normal people) and they make it in 20 different versions my fav is the grey dial http://www.collectorstime.com/zenith.php this is a good source - but looks like the fall of the dollar is killing us here. i saw some cheaper prices on froogle.com but, i guess it comes down to which design you want

for the record, i've been hocking the maxi marine *but the chrono version) for longer than robbieg and - also, the xxt zenith open - to me, its very classy and its HUGE - so, it makes a statement - super class, dress, HUGE, classic yet modern can be had for 4900 somewheres on the internets you get a 1 of a kind movement, you get a real collectors watch, you get a dress watch, you get a large watch these are the 2 gens i would actually spend $$ on if i had it here is the chrono

actually were all stuck in a magnetic field - it is the magnetic fields of the earth's core that protect our atmosphere from wearing away from solar radiation (like what happened to mars) however, i was just watching a show last week, where they explained that the earth's polarities have shifted over time and at sometimes have inverted - so, sometimes N is actually South and South north ect ect. there is an absence of magnetic fields in certain areas of the southern hemispheres that have some scientists concerned so, there is either that - or you could be one of those "magnet therapy" people (or more likely just trying to sleep with one for the sake of an eve's good time) - and now your imaginary magnetic healing bracelet won't F up your automatic watch and - for the record - i Really want a sinn seems like that ebay auction is a pretty good deal

I'd love a center-seconds version as well. As you know, the original B-Uhr watches all featured large manual-wind movements with center seconds. Today, the only options for center seconds seem to be smaller automatics, or very expensive modified 6497/6498 movements (as sold by Chronoswiss, Stowa, and others). I've even been searching for suitable vintage pocket watch movements, but the only one that I've seen is a hacking Hamilton military timer, the 4992B...and it's too large, at 43.1mm in diameter. same complaint T has had and why his custom watches arent center seconds i say geet a cheap asian movt and drop in a spacer re: money - on a lovely project like this with the quality and price- you should be braggin - Brilliant work. totally brilliant. for that price, i might want one myself
