  1. I need one of the screws that goes into the side of the bezel on a steel fish can anyone help me out with this?
  2. reality is, there is a ton of info out there on just about any model out there. - people often ask who has the best, or how accurate is this or yadda yadda, fact is, this is a very personal process, we all have levels of tolerance for quality, service and price. only person who knows whats right for you is you. I've had at least 50 or 60 reps come across my hands in the last few years and i STILL don't know whats right for me till its in my hands some look good on screen some look good on wrist - some look good both - but not as many as you might think. Good news is, if you get a watch and just don't like it, as long as you don't scratch ti up, you can sell it for a small loss. you clearly know how to search as you saw the patek thread. From here, its your journey. your doing the right thing, compare the watch to the gen photos. But, until you get it on your wrist, you won't know. If you live near gen shops - go try some on. that helps alot. also, whenever you figure out what you want, take 24 hrs away from the forum and then take another look, especially for your first purchase, it can be very overwhelming and very addicting. unless you have money to burn, dont' be afraid to wait and read. i would recommend a good week or 2, most give in sooner good luck on your spirit walk
  3. yeah its funny, those converters, i usually stick to either Magic or Xilisoft - never tried handbrake. but i have definitely struggled over the years with different converters glad xili worked for ya
  4. lots of shiney things here. forget about spending lots or a decent amount of $$, its not about that, its about what is available. you will be happier trying to find something available that you like, rather than trying to find a patek or make a patek perfect. or even very good. you have read the guide, you know whats out there. For instance, if you want a 20k watch (patek range) and somethign a big blingy -(shiney) then, look at the dewitts , i have tried on the gen and they look like a million bucks - and from what i read the reps are pretty good. - i can also recommend some of the AP Royal Oaks especially the seconds at 12 ones - they are fantastic i have had the luck of having 2of 3 of my all time favorite watches repped - or at least, enough of the parts repped to drop in a gen dial and whallah, but, thats after almost 4 yrs of doing this. and i still only just finished the first one - i'm waiting on some reviews before i pick up the 2nd one - zenith open, and i just have to believe that a UN maxi marine chrono is in our near future.
  5. 1 more - after having several bluetooth headsets, i have decided they just suck to much power and are uncomfortable to wear long term. i like my sony headset earbud thingys, so, i got a mic adapter so i can use my sony headphones and this shure mic http://store.shure.com/store/shure/AddItem...uctID.105498400 i had a cheap one from ebay but everyone complained they couldn't hear me. The shure has worked great for those of you that don't know shure is one of the leading brands of Microphone used for music
  6. yes, there is a xilisoft DVD ripper to iphone - i can email you the prog if you want. - cracked
  7. while i'm at it, get the invisible shield - and if your iphone gives you "wood" why not show it off https://www.miniot.com/miniot/iphone.htm and this company has the BEST cases hands down no questions asked - the leather is amazing, i have been using them fro the last 4 yrs which would be like 5 or 6 different phones and cases. - although coming from canada to the US - the slow shipping takes FOREVER - you can get them to ship it faster though http://www.gizmoskin.com/index.php?category=16
  8. i got one, i'm loving mine - allow me to add a piece of hardware that is pretty awesome - and cheap - clip on battery that triples battery life - for 20 US dollars search ebay for iphone 3g battery with this thing, you don't just leave it on all time, but, when you turn it on, let it charge for a bit, then turn it off. but, its a cheap way to keep your phone charged and in reality, it very reasonablyl bulks it up. also acts as a case for the back and bottom of the phone. i also jailbroke my phone this morning and downloaded 4 gig of cracked programs - i can't even sift through them there are so many. But teh one i really wanted - isn't working which is one that shows your calender items on the "slide to unlock" screen. like a home screen on a WM phone. yes i know the photos are of a 1st gen phone, but i have the 3g one. its molded to the 3g
  9. sweet - we must see photos - is the gear at teh top a balance wheel or just a gear - how is the AR? the regular crap? the xxt isn't more modern, there is a new open and xxt open model -with a see through part on the right side of the dial. i like the older versions better, in open and xxt - i'm hoping for xxt soon. i now only have 1 more watch on my all time hit parade - a good Ulyssee Nardin Maxi Marine Chrono -
  10. my guess is yes, especially when, its a very small modification to do it - now that they decorated part of the movement, why not. Not sure why they even bothered with the 40mm
  11. saw the gen, its a nice watch, very classy, can be a touch blingy, depending on how much gold is in the particular model
  12. It was cuban till castro - then it died - i assume the name was sold
  13. This watch, if up to par, demands a HKtan super thick glossy black gator strap
  14. the country is very poor - and cigars is really their only claim to fame. in actuality, i'm told that real cuban cigars aren't even that much better than others you can find - its more a cool thing to do cause its not legal in the US. but, the brand names out of cuba are being used by other south and central american cigar companies - and, thats the majority of what is on the market - the romeo and julieta brands ect ect. at some point, in the near future - cuba will get opened up and Billions of dollars will be pumped into the place by the vacation industries of the world - Cruises especially they are dying for new ports in the Caribbean.
  15. the sales people tried to justify it as not a mass grave, but as a part of history. put it in a museum anyway, the other sales chick tried to tell me it was made of 100% titanic but, i know from reading that there is only very little titanic metal in it. in person, it is a cool looking watch, unique. If not for the moral objection, it would be an intriguing piece to check out
  16. no, actually this was in st marteen. Although my wife is cuban so, as soon as it opens up, we'll be going to check it out, see where her family lived ect ect. I forgot to mention - This watch comes in a Humidor - like a real working humidor with dials and everything. so you can use it as a watch box - or pop out the insert and use it as a humidor. the box is Very nice, large 1 ft square wood box. I also read that this was 1 of 199 pieces, don't know if thats 199/ yr or total. there are only a handful of models on their website

    AR

you gotta do it - even if it takes awhile - its worth it.
  18. I stated my objection to the watch to Diamonds international, when i went in - of course, i still tried on all their UN watches And i think its just wrong to have produced this watch - but, this is probably a rare photo of this watch - as, most stores won't let you photo inside - this was in display in the front window here you go
  19. So, i saw this awesome chronoswiss display of an escapement and balance wheel --its wound with the key. fyi this thing is like 10 inches or so tall Here are 2 photos - hopefully one of the mods will embed this Youtube video in the thread Done Pho - dluddy
  20. So, i ran across this new to me brand called Cuervo Y Sobrinos The brand is old, 1880's and in cuba's hayday was an actual cuban made brand. Cuervo Y Sobrinos was a store that sold all the high end brands patek ect ect. Then they started procuring custom pieces to be sold under their brand. When castro came in, the whole thing fell apart. - At some point the brand was moved to attain the Swiss Made branding. This particular model was 3k ish It looks very cool - has like a pinstripe sort of look - very good - cigar smoking design the case is really awesome, this doesn't do it justice, its a very comfortable, sophisticated design. cmon - this can't be hard to rep movement is pretty basic Of course the 3d design of the dial, looks really cool too ok, lets hear the masses - Rep this baby we can all own a cuban - ok, it will be fake - but so are 90% of the cigars people buy labeled as cuban
  21. just got back from a long trip and had an amazing watch adventure in st maarten wife and family went to the beach, so i got to roam the watch shops from 930 am to 230 pm tried on dewitt, UN Maxi Marine (love it) and found some cool new brands, or at least ones i had not heard of. One was a Cuban Brand - more on that in another thread. but, i also came across this Welder brand. - its been mentioned here a small number of times - prices are 800-3000 ish but, what is really cool is some of them come with various color filters which totally change the look. they are large - some a bit to large. but, very cool none the less http://www.welderwatch.com/ is the official site check it out not a bad price http://cgi.ebay.com/WELDER-WATCH-5100-K26-...%3A1|240%3A1318 only downside its quartz
  22. so, IMHO one of the best watches of the decade, the zenith open, has been repped - and it looks pretty good. other than the balance wheel not lineing up directly with the hole - its pretty cool. i'd like to hear of teh quality, especially the dial and also if that gear is a balance wheel or just a gear, it looks like a gear, but if you look at other versions of that mov't thts where the balance wheel is. and i haven't seen any topics on it. I go away for a few weeks and this whole place goes to crap?
