The sticker is wrong itself, does not matter what is written on it. There aren't hologram stickers on Rolex' anymore! Another obvious flaw is the laser etched coronet on the crystal: The GV does not have it!!! Only the Milgauss' with clear crystal have them. The bold case back engraving does not bother me too much... Make it available without the coronet on the crystal or with clear crystal and the correct dials for the clear crystal and with ETA 2824 / 2836 and I'll buy one

I am waiting for this one, too. With solid 14k midlinks and bezel... The TT GMTIIc looks so much better than the SS!

I thought of building a franken of a 114270 Explorer I, but then made the ultimate decision and bought a gen a few weeks ago It is the most understated sporty Rolex. It's nice with a business outfit, with casual style as well as outdoor cloths while climbing. It is just perfect for me and probably the Rolex I love most.

uuuuh the clasp!!! Gonna get one as soon as the EU-dealers have it in stock...

I am not in Europe that weekend Habt Spa

Uuh, thanks for the info By-Tor!

actually this is only the correct hand stack for the GMT Master. The GMT Master II has a different movement and the 24, h, m, s hand stack you mentioned.

crystal's etched crown filled with varnish ?
chefcook replied to pugliesotto's topic in The Rolex Area
I tried glue, varnish, polishing the etching out and nothing worked. -
The gen gasket sits nicely in the gen retaining ring, but not tight enough on the euromariner case

I hope my WM9 will arrive soon and there won't be problems with german customs... WM9 claims to have a safe way to Germany but I am worried until I have it on my wrist...

The gen Submariner does not have AR at all - only Rolexes with AR are the GMT IIc (only on the cyclops) and some newer datejusts.

You definitely will need specific tools. A case knife, a set of watchsmith screwdrivers, a crystal press and a rolex style case opener is the minimum for what you are going to do. And no, I would not recommend to do it yourself if you have never before taken a watch apart.

Used Submariner 14060M or 16610! Should be well within your range and it will be a future classic.

The two Euromariners I had on my desk until now had the same problem: The gen inserts do NOT fit in. It is exactly like perry described it: The bezel ring does take a gen insert, but not the case itself. I had to grind a lot off the cases and a little off the inserts to install the gen inserts on the Euromariners. Actually I was so confused with this that I ordered a WM9 Z-Serial Submariner just to see if it REALLY takes gen parts without modding.

There won't be a 43mm Sub! The 116610, 116613, 116618 and 116619 (in short: the new subs) will be 40mm, too. Only the Seadweller Deep Sea will be bigger...

Anyone have a 5517 Mil Sub? Looking to get one..
chefcook replied to comex's topic in The Rolex Area
The 5517 Tswisswatches offers is the same that precious time offers. The hands are completely off, in particular the minute hand is a give away. The dial looks good to me. The Oyster Perpetual font is a little bold on the rep and the coronet is not exactly the same size, but it is good enough. After I got the recommendation here on RWG to use MKIIwatches hands I'll go that way for a 5517. The look nice, fit ETAs and are inexpensive. IMHO very important when building a 5517: These watches won't be found in mint condition. They were a tool and used like one. They have to be scratched, used, aged - imagine how it would look after 40 years hard work in the more inhabitable areas of this planet. You'll find some pics of a gen attached to this post. -
light blue bezel and dial and we'd have a white gold 116619 like shown on this years basel show in april... It's a pitty they did not get this right if it was blue I'd instantly order one!

Heyho, I am currently thinking of building a military submariner, but all milsubs I've found have actually quite bad hands - especially the minute hand is completely wrong on the reps. I was thinking of buying aftermarket sword style hands for a Rolex 1520 movement, but how much is the size difference between an asian 21.6k bph or an ETA movement's hand sizes and the Rolex 1520? Am I right, that the 1520 used smaller diameters so that the can be honed out to fit an asian or ETA movement? Thanks a lot, M.

Gradually is not OK. If it is a 2836 it should change within a few seconds. The time when it changes is determined by how the hands were pressed on. Send it back, Andrew should solve the problem. It can't be your fault.

My new 93150 bracelet - please give me your opinion...
chefcook replied to chefcook's topic in The Rolex Area
Yep, the logo on the clasp is not so fine, but the noob bracelet is soooo easy to source and I had various of them laying around in my bracelet bin... Maybe I'll grind the logo a little. I hope it'll look better and it gives a nice-twenty-years-old-and-refinished look According to my AD the end links should be 501B. The total cost of the bracelet shown above were about 75 USD including the gen endlinks and gen spring bars I am happy with it -
Heyho, for my noobmariner based 16800 project I was in a desperate need for a 93150 old style bracelet with loose end links, a divers extension made from sheet metal instead of the solid divers extension of the modern 93150 / 93250, a flip lock without grooves and of course hollow mid links - just like the gen... All rep or aftermarket bracelets I could find had solid mid links. I decided to buy one on the bay and see what could be made out of it. I canibalized a noob bracelet I had laying around. The end links, the small mid links between the bracelet itself and the end link and the sheet metal divers extension came from the aftermarket bracelet, the rest is from the nooby bracelet. I ground the grooves from the flip lock and shortened the clasp a little to accomodate the flater divers extension. But see what I've done (attached pics). Your opionions are welcome Regards, M. EDIT: Ordered a pair of genuine endlinks allready. The ones from the aftermarket bracelet are nice, but not good enough IMO.

I tried Faisal Ali's aftermarket assembly, too. Did not work on my Euromariner either...

I managed to get a NOS genuine 16800 bezel with washer, spring and retaining ring (same as 16610). And you know what? It does not fit a 2008 Euromariner case. At least not mine. The bezel ring works perfect with the standard retaining ring from the Euromariner, but the gen retaining ring is too large in inner diameter. With a genuine gasket it can not held in place properly. It's enough to pull the bezel ring off - you'll have the complete retaining ring in your hands.
