I have reps (several) AND gens (several - rolex only). That is no antagonism, that is the reason why I can't afford a USD 125k car, only a USD 70k car Some people don't buy reps because they can't afford the gen. Some people buy them because of the fun modding them to a nearly gen look, feel and quality. People buying reps because they can't afford the gens are trying to impress others with something they actually don't have and are the kind of people I am looking down on.

A gen dial and a set of well lumed hands is more in the 400 USD range IMO. You'll need a good gen or aftermarket crystal to eliminate the lasered crown - add another 50 bucks. I'll see this more in the 1700 USD area with a good rep bracelet (WM9 and Noob mix up) or in the 2400 USD area with gen bracelet. IMO too expensive for what it is.

To me this looks like a WM9 / PT / Euromariner Sub with raised crown position for the gen movement and lugholes. Pearl looks as crappy as on the WM9 / PT / Euromariner. Bracelet looks like from a CN sub.

Rolex Deep Sea vs GMTcc bracelet Size differences ?
chefcook replied to tgchrono2's topic in The Rolex Area
No, does not fit. The Deep Sea is 2mm wider between the lugs and the endlinks are completely different. -
I have a 2008 Mini Cooper S with a retrofitted John Cooper Works kit and a RMS intercooler. Does around 225 bhp and is a lot of fun with good mileage - which is a lot worth in Europe with a gas price per gallon of 7,67 USD this year. As I am living in motorcycle country (black forrest, Germany) my other toys are mainly motorcycles (Aprilia Tuono and Yamaha TZR, being a two stroke junky), but I am planing on buying a Lotus Elise next spring. I am looking for a rover powered MK1 in good condition and without any modifications as I am planing to drop a 2.3 litre Ford duratec engine in it (ca. 200 bhp). Should be great fun in a car on the lower side of 1600 lbs I used to have Porsches starting with a '90 944 S2 (best ever) over a '73 911 Targa (rebuilt myself!) to a '00 911 GT3 (996), but stopped having an own Porsche as I am working for a company producing and developing parts for porsches (more than one can be seen in RobbieGs picture) and therefore have enough hot Porsches to drive during work. Actually Porsches became boring for me working with them every day and knowing what the next gen 911 will be like and what problems I have at work with it (actually I've allready seen what the Porsche maniacs will get to buy from 2011 on ) they became just work - nothing I want to have at home.

wow! A real gem! The plexi subs with the glossy dial are one of my favorite rolex - will have to build one in future

Hi Simon, maybe I can help you. Check your PMs.. Regards, M.

Looks great! But: Most of the reps have the IV68 engraving referring to the 4th quarter in 1968 in the caseback...
-
Thanks In short this is the same Sub that Ubi built - nearly: WM9 with gen bezel assembly, gen insert, gen crystal, gen crown. Aftermarket case tube (which has allready proven to be sh*t and will be replaced by a gen), noob bracelet with WM9 clasp, WM9 divers extension and WM9 first outer links. The endlinks are modified noob SELs. I modded the CGs slightly and ground the engraving out of the rehaut - yes, this was a M series with engraving. I have still plans for this watch: Dial and hands get superlumed with genuine C1 Superluminova and maybe I'll buy a gen bracelet. This watch feels sooo gen and nice on the wrist that one could think of selling his gen Submariner. This is definitely a keeper for me and I like it more than my gen at the moment.

I bought one and it is an utter piece of crap. Bad quality, wrong colours and the worse is that for about 30 bucks more you'll find gens on the bay sometimes.

Still trying to improve my skills as photographer... I am happy

problem with all Airking reps is that they all use the wrong case. The Airking is NOT a Datejust and uses a 34mm case.
-
I hope there'll be a source for this wonderful movement
-
The movement shown in your first post is accurate to the gen regarding the shock protection on the balance. The swan neck regulator looks far better , too. If you can source a second one, please PM me!
-
where can I buy this movement with Incabloc instead of the reps standard KIF shock protection?
-
Don't bother. You've done enough for the rep world to stand above such claims. Think of your wonderful CGs! One of them is on my wrist as I am sitting here and writing this and it is a pleasure everytime I look at my watch.
-
Be aware that 36mm is not the correct case size for the airking, which should be 34mm.
-
Actually you don't need to produce two different cases. Just bore the hole for the stem higher on the cases for the asian ones...

Yes, the whole PT / WM9 case is different to the Euromariner case. Differences are visible, when known. The o-ring is is correct and should stay where it is. Remember: Gen / WM9 / PT: One o-ring, one crystal gasket. Euromariner / MBK 2008: One o-ring, TWO crystal gaskets. I replaced the lower gasket (between case and retaining ring) with a clarks aftermarket gasket, which is the crystal gasket for the clarks crystal, too. The upper smaller gasket, that holds the stock euromariner crystal, remained untouched in its groove. Worked good and is waterproof. But fact is, that the Euromariner / MBK 2008 is far away from beeing a perfect rep of the gen regarding the bezel assembly. The WM9 / PT is better, but still not there perfectly. But at least the differences from WM9 / PT to the gen is only marginal...
-
The o-ring gasket is accurate to the gen, but the Euromariner has not only one crystal gasket - on the Euromariner there is a gasket and an o-ring between retaining ring and case and then a second crystal gasket on top.

WM9 and Euromariner serials are different. Pics won't follow unfortunately, have some camera problems at the moment...

when there'll be a 2892-A2 version I'll gotta have another sub *g*

Hey guys, I just wanted to inform you about my latest acquisition, a WM9 Submariner 16610. I ordered it to have a Submariner with Z serial and smooth rehaut. But what I got was a M with engraved rehaut - in short exactly the watch precious time sells for far less money. So be aware, that the WM9 is not a way of avoiding the rehaut engraving anymore. For some reason I doubt that PTs Sub or the WM9 is the same as the Euromariner. I sold my Euromariner here in the forums, but due to some work it was still on my desk yesterday and I had the possibility of comparing them side by side. The case has some differences: The WM9 has the nice polished bevel on the lugs, which have a different profile as well. It seems, that WM9 and Euromariner replicate two different cases - yes, the cases on 16610 have varied over the years! There are two different lug shapes! This is something that was discussed on many gen rolex forums before, so I've attached some pics of the gens showing the differences. Look how the sides of the LV and the black sub are different: The LV has a smaller radius on the lugs when viewed from the side. Both cases were available as LV or as black sub and there isn't any consistency in time or serial or lugholes that helps. Rolex. My AD had both cases on his desk, both new, both M serials, both black subs. But with visible differences. The WM9 has the fatter case as shown on the LV in the attachment. The Euromariner I received has the flatter side profile! Other differences are the caseback and the crystal retaining ring: Montres Rolex S.A. on the WM9, Monarch Polfy on the Euromariner. But more important is, that the bezel assembly of the WM9 really is gen like. The gasket has the same style like the gen with just one gasket while the Euromariner has an additional groove in the retaining ring and uses two gaskets. I'll make some pics of the actual watches this evening, then I'll check the serials, too. Regards, M.
