  1. IMO DSNs complete watches are not as good as a standard rep modded with some DSN parts. Though this is the more expensive way I'd prefer it over a complete DSN pam. The standard rep case from our collectors here are spot on, well made and are cheap. The movements are good, too. I bought a standard rep 111H from precious time some weeks ago and it came well regulated (does about +1 second a day - thats within COSC standards!). The movement is clean and came allready oiled. Only problem is the AR. Actually it is not anti reflective, it was more like super reflective and had an ugly blue tint. I removed it and will have the crystal ARed later... I modded it with DSNs dial and hands and one of V's marvelous crown guards. A rwg crown will be next. I bought various straps for it - genuine rubber with deployant clasp, one from strap culture and a cheap buffalo leather from DSN which is made very well and feels soft and high quality to my surprise. Total cost was about $650.
  2. H3 canon set - $35 dial and hands relumed - ca. $150 thicker crown (e.g. rwg crown) - ca. $50 labour - ca. $50 Think of a DSN Dial and hands as alternative... will safe you about $80 and is nearly as good.
  3. Split seconds: The right subdial above 3 o clock will show the tenths of your stopped time. Actually the expensive quartz 6340 it is a quartz rattrapante! The movement, that is used both in gen and rep is a very fine piece of quartz timing.
  4. On the last pic ... is there really no gasket!?
  5. Did I get you right: You want to reset the running second?!?
  6. You're right. The expensive quartz is a different model and has -just like the gen- a nice complication: Split seconds and two stop functions.
  7. I'll check the 1:1 pics I have and the diameter of my 16610 dial this evening.
  8. actually I only tried the 16610 dial, but that fits just perfect. According to the 1:1 pics in the current Rolex catalogue the dial in 14060 and 16610 should be the same size...
  9. AFAIK the gen 14060 crystal won't fit a noobmariner. The cyclops can be taken of the noob crystal quite easily. Dial will fit the case, but not the movement. I am collecting parts for doing the same thing
  10. I think it looks quite good, near perfect! I would not go darker, but the lume on the dial should have a more yellow/brown/amber touch to look the same age as the pearl IMO. Would be nicer if the lume was not so white on the dial. Look at the pics in the attachments. These are genuine from around 1983 to 1987 and all have a slightly lighter colour on the dial lume than on the pearl. The one in the middle / right looks pearlwise similar to yours, but got redialed at an AD. IMO this distorts the vintage look
  11. Exactly the same size as a GMT IIc at 40.5mm from 8 to 2 o'clock. If the Milgauss will be repped properly I'll order one asap. I even thought iof buying a GMT IIc and one of those too small Milgauss and build one myself, but that version would have an obvious point wrong: Too small dial.
  12. maaaaan now I am really jealous... That's exactly what I ever wanted to do but I never found a dial
  13. I like the sandwich dial too much for a white pam though I have to admit that they are absolute beauties!

    milgauss

Just checked the dial diameters: The GMT should have around 30.4mm and the Milgauss around 33.75mm...

    milgauss

I hope there'll be a good milgauss soon, as they now have the GMT IIc case. GMT IIc case without crown guard, crystal without date mag, correct dial and a solid fixed bezel - and you are there... Imho this should not be so difficult for the factories.
  16. a classic Datejust in all steel or white rolesor, dial as simple as possible and without any bling. Understated, classy, convenient.
  17. Ok, heard enough bad of that strap and will go for a genuine Thanks a lot!
  18. I allready have a Strap Culture Vintager, a genuine rupper strap and the brown buffalo strap enock mentioned above. I just want that brown semimat strap as it is the standard strap every nearly every PAM comes with and I like the idea of having 'the full package'. As my other DSN strap was so well made I thought of having found a cheaper way to usable straps than buying an expensive genuine one...
  19. Heyho, I am thinking of ordering a strap from DSN, namely the one fitted to his 111H in his photobucket: http://s40.photobucket.com/albums/e230/wat...n%20april%2007/ I am not sure how good it will be - is it the usual rep crap of this particular strap? As it is the standard strap for the 111 I want it really bad. I've allready bought a strap from Davidsen (brown buffalo 24mm) and it turned out to be worth every penny - simply excellent for the buck. But is the "calf gold semimat" as it is called on the Panerai website from Davidsen usable? Thanks for your help!
  20. Very well done! Would be glad to see how you got the right positioning for the lug holes. Well, I think that the noob has one of the worst cases for a 16610, but I totally agree that it looks good for an 16800 / 168000. IMO that's quite interesting: Seems as if the noob actually was replicated after a 16800 and afterwards got it's 16610 engraving and dial... But would be even more interesting is why the rehaut thickness on the 16610 and 16800 is so different. Both have a similar case thickness, the bezel assembly is not higher on the 16610 and the case back did not change too much either. Maybe the 3135 movement is smaller in height?
  21. I can second that. I received a 111H from PT last wedensday and everything went perfect. The watch arrived very well regulated and gains about a second a day.
  22. A rattrapante and a column wheel 7750 would make me happy like a small child on christmas eve... A working flyback and power reserve would be nice, too. A 7750 well finished with column wheel and rattrapante could make an exact rep of panerai's OP XVIII movement and I'd give my left leg for a good and reliable rep of this movement fittet to a nice radiomir rattrapante. Isn't there an asian 7750 with big date allready? Thought I've seen something like that in a Breitling rep...
  23. just removed the AR from my 111H and it looks so much nicer now! Will try getting a nice AR...
  24. Tastes vary... I've seen it life on the basel show and imho it is stunning. Actually I am thinking of where I could have a blue dial and bezel made so that I can convert a GMT IIc rep ...
