  1. Yep, various Air-Kings with a Domino's Pizza dial were made and appear on auctions from time to time. A friend used to have one...
  2. IMO the pics are simply old and were not updated.
  3. As a good deep sea will be a big seller I don't think it'll take long...
  4. I think I'll wait for one with a better bracelet. The SELs are way off...
  5. The difference is that the 16610 is a model that is in production and not a fantasy like the 116610. A 116610 will be shown on the 2010 baselworld watch fair maybe. It will replace the 16610 and will most likely have a ceramic bezel and a case like the GMTIIc.
  6. Blancpain Fifty Fathoms - but it should be well made with correct saphire crystal bezel, a nice dial and a all details. And a Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso that does not have a thousand flaws...
  7. Count me in for one as discussed befor via PM
  8. Those movements are based on the 7750 but don't have the chronofunctions. It's basically a 7750 main plate without the chronograph. Gen PAMs do it the same way but it cannot be used as replacement in a 7750 chronograph.
  9. You can use an insert from wholesaleoutlet or watchbandman (seller names on ebay - just search for "seadweller bezel" and you'll find their shops) and replace the pearl with a watchmaterial pearl. For the dial you can try ND Trading. They offer matte 16660 re-dials for 500 USD. BTW a 16660 had Tritium lume which does not glow anymore. The tritium lume only lasts about 10 years. It would be far more correct to have a pearl that does not glow unless you get a gen rolex service dial with Superluminova (marked as "SWISS", the Tritium dial is marked as "SWISS- T<25") and a matching 16600 insert with Superluminova pearl.

    5517

IMO a 5517 should have fixed bars (welded in) - see here: http://doubleredseadweller.com/mil_sub.htm
  11. - Daytona for the case: 245 USD - Gen Clasp: 102 USD - Bracelet (eBay): 100 USD - Case tube: 70 USD - Dial (eBay): 110 USD - Hands: 45 USD - Cyclops and glue: 7 USD - Swiss ETA: 559 USD (price at OFrei) - Crown: 60 USD So about 1300 USD... A franken like this is only possible for reasonable money if you have a lot of luck and someone gives you a wonderful crown for free (as said befor: Ubi is great ), you have a ETA 7750 movement in spare and someone needs the Daytona dial and movement and is willing to pay for it (sold here for about 60 bucks). I invested about 400 USD + movement + hands + gen clasp + bracelet. If I did not have the parts allready I'd never built a franken like this. A gen can be bought for about 2000 USD second hand.
  12. Thanks to Ubi I received a genuine Tudor Triplock crown from him today Great gesture from a great member of this lovely community! On the way home I stopped at the local AD and bought a set of gen spring bars, now it's nearly perfect for me
  13. Be aware that the quality of the wholesaleoutlet crystals vary in a huge range. I bought three and each was different regarding the bevel. One was perfect, the other had slightly wrong angle and the third actually looked like a plexi tropic without any bevel.
  14. my recently acquired WM9 still is a 2836-2...
  15. Heyho, what does one think when seeing a Tudor bracelet next to a serviced Valjoux 7750 and a set of old Daytona hands in the parts bin? Of course - build another watch! A Tudor 79280p Chronograph was my choice. I found a nice Tiger dial on the bay thanks to a hint here in the WTB section, bought a second @ six Daytona from Eurotimez. The case was reworked to fit a gen crown and tube (currently a Rolex crown is fitted to the watch, but I am awaiting a gen Tudor triplock crown). I superlumed the hands to match the dial and glued a cyclops on the Daytona crystal. I am still searching for a crystal without the etched crown... The bracelet's endlinks had to be bent slightly to fit the rep Daytona. Actually I think the bracelet is not a genuine Tudor band, but the clasp is (had it in my parts bin as spare). I was lucky with the movement: It had the correct datewheel for this dial allready The watch wears perfectly comfortable on the Tudor bracelet. Actually much better than with the Daytona bracelet. I think only the big second hand should be red with this type of dial, but I like it as it is. But the watch still has two big flaws: Wrong caseback and missing "500" on the bezel. Maybe I'll find some good replacements one day.. I am happy
  16. For WM9 himself I just can say that his watches are what he promises, his service is utterly impressive and the stuff is actually worth every penny.
  17. Make a nice blue dial and bezel and I'll buy one immediately. Why don't they get things right with their experience in repping rolexes?! The TT GMT IIc has the wrong dial colour when everything needed would be a dial from the SS version with yellow gold marker surroundings. The Milgauss GV has a lasered crown on the crystal where should be none. And this Submariner is the wrong colour.
  18. Yep, my WM9 sub had the same problem. I replaced the thin WM9 spring bars with gens, so the damaged WM9s did not bother me. The SELs on my WM9 bracelet had to be modified to accept gen spring bars. I tried noob SELs and they fitted perfectly with either the fat noob spring bars and gen spring bars.
  19. I've seen a Rolex Submariner and a Sinn Chrono on DiNozzo's wrist too...
  20. I look down on people passing reps as gens, not on owning them. Passing silicone breasts as "gens" is the same thing: Trying to look wealthier or sexier than you are. Sooner or later it'll come out and most people one knows have an idea of what one's yearly income is. The next step is that others realise that you don't have the money for a $50k watch. Nearly everyone can afford a 4k watch if he or she wants to. So stick with reps to gens that are within your budget and don't lie to others when it comes to the gen-rep-question. It's ridiculous and daft. Wearing reps to pose and say "hey look, I am rich" is simply wrong. it should be a hobby and fun. I have fun modding reps to a gen appearance but I never pass them as gen.
