  1. Aprilia Tuono 1000, year 03, 12300kms driven so far. Should sell well for about 5200
  2. Keep it. The price was great (used ones usually sell in the 1500 to 1800 EURO range over here) and a lot dings and scratches will follow.
  3. Now another question: How did the availability of good reps of ALL models we choose as favourites influence your vote? For example the modern 16610 had it's popularity boost over the last 1.5 years since the first WM9 and Euromariners. And there is not one good 14060 rep...
  4. I am surprised that besides the 16610 the plexis are your choice. I thought my own choice would be more common among us - 16600, 16800 and 14060.
  5. Nice! I love the bark finish. It's a shame that it is out of production.
  6. When thinking of all the reference no.s for this poll I realised that there were over 50 variations of the Rolex diver's up to now. 29 different references so far - no. 30 will follow next year with the new 116610 - and a huge number of variations to each reference number For example about sixteen different case / strap / dial combos for the 16610 Submariner date: "Swiss T<25" dial with Tritium in a lugholed case without etched crown and with LELs, "Swiss" dial with Luminova in a lugholed case with LELs, "Swiss" dial with Luminova in a lugholed case with SELs, "Swiss Made" dial with Superluminova in a lugholed case with SELs, the same with laser etched crown, the same without lugholes, the same with engraved rehaut, Maxi-Dial for the LV with and without engraved rehaut... mulitplied by two for the round and flat S dials...
  7. Hello everybody, I had discussed this topic with some watch addicts yesterday and we only came to one answer: They all are great. There is no favourite Rolex diver's watch. All of them have their right to exist, somehow. Do you share this opinion? Or do you have a favourite? Let us know... Cheers, M.
  8. Me too! Hopefully the WM9 Seadweller won't be delayed too much and will fill the gap the 16610 left...
  9. Monday: Gen Planet Ocean Tuesday: TW Best Explorer with some mods
  10. Ubi is right. I have several gens, but actually it is quite boring to go in a shop and spend $5k. It is a lot more rewarding to build a franken / rep that will stand the comparison to a gen. The rep vs. rolex steel myth is IMO not true. You can combine gen rlx parts wth rep stell and you won't see any colour difference in any light.
  11. The Airkings and Oyster Perpetual (Ref. 116000) really is the runner up line. Nonetheless they are both wonderful watches. They are pure Rolex and have everything that makes Rolex: They are elegant and sporty at the same time, they are never too big and never too small, they are nearly unbreakable. The Airking 114200 measures 34mm, the Oyster Perpetual 36mm. Both are considerably cheaper than the Explorer and if I had to choose, I'd go for the Oyster Perpetual. The modern bracelet and clasp on the OP is a massive improvement over the hollow bracelet and the sheet metal clasp on the explorer plus I like the looks of the OP. The movement is the same for all three watches. If you are searching for a rep you unfortunately have only one solution: Explorer. Neither the Airking nor the OP are repped propperly.
  12. New style: polished lugs, solid bracelets Old style: brushed lugs, hollow bracelets They are definitely. I've bought one of WM9s Explorer 1 and it has exactly the same case than my old TW Best 16200 had.
  13. The old style datejusts are not the datejusts every other dealer has. Those are TW Best Datejusts and way better than the most. The new style datejusts from WM9 are standard reps.
  14. The old style datejusts are not the datejusts every other dealer has. Those are TW Best Datejusts and way better than the most. The new style datejusts from WM9 are standard reps.
  15. here it is: The flaws on this watch - all are unavoidable with the daytona case: - Missing 500 on the bezel - Wrong bezel shape (should be more flat) - No lugholes - Wrong case back (missing engravings) - Wrong lug shape (side walls should be flatter and not that rounded like on the fat daytona case) - Wrong lug size (too short, too thin) - Wrong bezel shape (too domed!!) - Rehaut inner diameter is too small Some gen pics for comparison: IMO it is not rewarding to built a franken Tudor chrono from a fat daytona case. It has too much differences to the gen Tudor case. I'd go with a Tudor Monte Carlo case (Yukiwatch or Jewelryandwatch), round the crown guards, source a gen plexi crystal and a gen 7750 dial. You'll end with a wonderful seventies big block Much more expensive, but much more accurate.
  16. I've done it allready - remember the Tudor crown you donated for that project, Ubi A sub crystal does not work, the date window is far more right on the tudor. I discoverd that a gen 295 crystal fits the fat daytona case and glued a date mag on it. The dial is a little bigger than the daytona dial and the fat daytona case has to thin lugs... will post pictures later to show what I mean... If I do it again I'll go the expensive route with a reworked monte carlo aftermarket case.
  17. A stone setting in steel is possible but due to the better elasticity and plasticity of gold it is much easier and IMO more durable in gold...
  18. The logo on the dial looks good, but I still don't like the pearl. On my 42mm gen it is completely recessed from the bezel surface and the white gold surround of the pearl is thinner on my gen.
  19. I don't like the pearl. On my gen it looks more recessed. Is there a difference regarding the pearl from the 42mm to the 45mm PO? My is 42mm...
  20. Has anyone positive long term experiences with DLC coated plates or graphite mods on this movement? I've seen that some of you did it, but actually never heard what happened to these movements after a year or so...
  21. What about using a 12-9-6 Navitimer case? That should be a little flatter than the rep 3-6-9 case...
  22. On the most reps I can see the loupe with my bare eye and therefore call the etch a flaw Same with both rep milgauss I've seen yet...
