  1. Most comfortable: PAM 111H Least comfortable: Rolex Submariner 16610. I am surprised that you find the Planet Ocean uncomfortable to wear, even in 42mm. One reason I fell in love with the PO is the fact that it is so much more comfortable to wear than the Submariner.
  2. worse is that it is the wrong size!
  3. I saw a lot of them in bars and restaurants in Como during my italy vacation last september. I thought they were cheap lookalikes as similar polycarbonate fake subs are promotional gifts from some magazines here in Germany. I'd never thought that someone is really paying for this sh**...
  4. As some bloke in girly lingery stated: Don't dream it, be it I've allready checked the second hand market and to me it seems to be worth the extra money for the gen. Most second hands are not massively below 2K Euro when they come on a bracelet and actually most POs offered are the big size.
  5. That is it, what I wanted to say - I did not want to discuss the PO in particular but THE WATCH (whatever it might be) for your heart and soul. I think it is only a dream to find the watch that is it for the rest of ones life, but why not have it for a few years - lets see, maybe I'll really keep it until the end of days? I know at least two that done it. One is my father and his Submariner 1680, the other is my aunt and her Omega Constellation. She bought it in the early seventies and still wears it every day. They got their heart and soul watches and IMO the longer they keep it, the more they love them. They tell storys about them and it seems it is something that reminds them of their own history and way of life. E.g. my father told me once that he cracked the crystal of his sub on the day I was born and he still has this cracked crystal in his cabinet. For me it always was a clear fact that I need a Submariner like my dad. But when I had it it wasn't THE WATCH. I never had the feeling that it is the ultimate watch to have with any watch until trying the smaller PO. I don't mean, that it will be the last watch I buy - surely not. But I hope it will be the last on my wrist.
  6. Hello everybody, last saturday I went into the local Omega AD and tried a Seamaster Planet Ocean in 42.5mm on. From pictures I alsways thought it is nice, but not more. I just went into the AD out of curiousity and because my fiancee wanted to try a ladies size Aqua Terra. She did not like the AT, but I fell in love with the Planet Ocean completely. I actually have the strong feeling that this could be THE ONE, the last watch, the ultimate decission, the watch for everyday, everynight, every opportunity and the rest of my life. I don't know how that happened or how it is possible but I fell in love with the watch immidiately. It feels a lot better than both my gen Rolex Explorer and Submariner, the only watch in my current stable that comes close is my modded rep Panerai Luminor 111H. Every single piece on this watch appealed to me like none before. The decision fell a few seconds after I left the shop: I need this watch. Money is not the problem, with a little saving I'd be able to afford the watch in about three months. The AD offered it with about 15% discount and an additional rubber strap which sounds like a reasonable price to me. A pitty that I just bought a new flat for my fiancee and me - if not I would have bought the PO today. At the moment I am thinking if it has to be a gen. A nice franken with all gen parts besides the movement and case would be about half the cost of a new gen. And it would be a lot of fun building it. But it just is not the real McCoy, not a watch I can give to the AD and say "fix it" if something occurs and maybe feels a little less quality. The PO lead me to a nearly philosophic discussion in my mind. I am more than happy with my rep Panerai and my last franken Submariner (currently for sale to fund a Speedmaster franken with gen case and Lemania 1873) is at least as exciting for me like the gen. So what would you do and with what reason? Please think of everythin but money - the lower price should not be a point in this consideration. Thanks for your feedback, M.
  7. I know, I built enough frankens in my life, but: The Noob case should not take a gen movement because of the crown position. It should be too low on the noob case
  8. http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...A:IT&ih=014 ... !??
  9. Tudor Chronograph 79280p: Gen dial, gen crown, gen clasp... Rolex Submariner 16610: Gen crystal with laser etched crown, gen bezel insert, gen pearl, gen crown, gen tube, gen Tudor hands and all gaskets are gen... Based on a WM9 V1
  10. It looks really good, especially the SELs and the bracelet. If only the new WM9 Submariner bracelet would be that nice.... I received it today and can't stand it. Two steps forward (hollow midlinks and one piece SELs) and twenty back, the fit and feel is utter [censored] and there's a gap between lugs and SELs a blind man could read newspaper through. Worst rep bracelet I had in my hands in my whole life!
  11. If the newer Datejusts would have a AR coating on the inside the sub 16610 would have it too - both use the same crystal with only different gaskets. When I bought a brand new 295c crystal from my AD a few months ago I had a little accident with superglue on the inside of the crystal (never ever work with superglue, you fingers and afterwards with expensive crystals...). I polished the glue from the crystal. With a dremel. The polished area looked like the rest of the inner surface, too. Therefore I don't think there is any AR.
  12. Count me in for two silver vintage overlays and two modern!
  13. Hm, at first quick glance the dial does not look terribly off like it was on earlier 14060 reps. The X in ROLEX seems a little weird... The SELs are wrong and the case is missing the lugholes. The 14060 still has lugholes and loose end links. IMO it is just a CN Submariner with a NoDate dial and crystal.
  14. sadly Rolex does not give re-issues of papers anymore.
  15. They got the SELs right, which is an enormous improvement over PTs...
  16. You are not only saving money - at least in Europe the Non-COSC 14060 is the more sought after NoDateSub, especially when it has a Tritium dial (before 1998 - newer Submariners have Luminova or Superluminova lume). When buying a more then ten years old watch I would not spend a premium on having guarantee papers. The Non-COSC Rolexes did not have a certificate of authenticity (chronometer paper!) with em, just the guarantee paper which does proof nothing IMO. Have in mind that the serial number of a Non-COSC Rolex was never written on a certificate by Rolex (and not punched too) and the dealer had to write it on the guarantee paper. Get an empty guarantee paper and a pen - see what I mean? When buying a watch older than five years it should have been serviced in the past at least once. The invoice should be included. The dealer invoice of the watch itself would be nice but is not a must have IMO.
  17. The gen is thinner. But IMO it's only noticeable when having a gen next to it... The clarks is by far the best aftermarket 295 or 295c.
  18. I hope we'll see a good rep of the Quantum of Solace PO with the correct etched crystal and the wonderful dial soon. It is sooo nice!
  19. I bought mine from Eurotimez about two months ago and converted it to a Tudor Chrono Frankenstein. To eliminate the bad etched crown on the rep daytona crystal I tried to change it for a clarks 295 and glued a cyclops on it (the Tudor chrono has a cyclops far right). And it worked perfectly!
  20. Some INTERESTING NEWS: the Sec @ Six Daytona takes a gen crystal 295!
  21. Robbie, do you have a limited slip diff in your Mini? I've bought my Mini Cooper S with limited slip diff and with now around 230 hp I have no problems with torque steer at all. Bends must be very tight to make torque steer noticeable...
  22. Eurotimez (Chris) und WM9 kann ich auch empfehlen.
  23. It's rubbish. Wrong in every possible way and far too expensive for it's quality.
