  1. Guys, My first pictorial on my doppel. I have had this watch for close to 4 years now. Absolutely fascinated with the movt when I first got it. never had any practical use for it though but it sure makes time fly past during boring meetings Badly in need of a new strap. Probably gonna get gator strap from cajun. Here it is... hope you guys enjoy this short pictorial Cheers Siesta181
  2. Thanks for all the input guys..... Got me self a camera about 3 hours ago. Needless to say, the missus (aka Finance Minister, Secretary of the Treasury to you yanks) wasn't too pleased. On the way to trade show (Comex... guys), had the choice narrowed down to the Sony A200 and Pentax K200D. Pentax clearly in the lead at this time. Reason being; IS lens are way too expensive. the A200 and K200 has IS in body. Both are also compatible to Minolta and legacy Pentax lens respectively (ebay here I come....) Handled both cameras and spent close to an hour on each camera. Verdict; almost indistinguisable in terms of perfomance. The K200 is an all weather cam (60 sealing points) but user friendliness was not as good as Sony's. With regards to handling and feel, the Sony felt so natural in my hand whilst the Pentax... well ... it was not as ergonomic to me (personal taste here) At the end of the day... I chose Sony... simply because its offers the best bang for your buck. USD 800 buck gets you the body, 2 sony lens (18-70mm + 75-300mm) and lots of freebies (2 battteries, 02x4G CF cards, tripod, dry cabinet...). But to be fair the K200 was probably just USD 200 more and offered the same freebies (more or less) At the end of the day, I didn't feel like spending too much on something that might not sustain my interest in the long run. And did I mention the Sony sales promoters were cuter... yup, shallow shallow me... Going for a short trip across the border for some go-karting action, lets hope the weather holds up so I can test my new toy. Its true what they say, boys don't grow up, they just have more expensive toys. Cheers Siesta ps; anybody in the market for a dry cabinet, its still in my car boot... I am too chicken to bring it back to my apartment, doubt the missus going to believe its a freebie. Buyer takes care of shipping.
  3. Yup, you are right. Most of the DSLRs are good now. But I am woking on a budget and my choices are limited to the following D60, K200D and the Sony A200. I am leaning towards the Sony and Pentax (in body VR, useful for a smoker and caffeine junkie like me). Lenses are a factor as well. Carl Zeiss lenses are not cheap. Cheers
  4. Damn.... had a look at your avatar and I realised... Shiieeettt, who needs a camera???
  5. Guys, Don't really know where to post this. I am thinking of upgrading to a DSLR and have narrowed it down to 2 choices, Nikon D60 and Pentax K200D. Been visting the photography forums to read their input but the replies are heavily biased. Nikon or Pentax all the way. Fanatical. Would appreciate a few thoughts on this from our resident photographers. I have had experience handling SLRs before but the digital age came in and I have since been slacking on the P&S type digital cams. DSLR prices have come down quite a fair bit and its acceptable to my wallet now. ps; If I don't spend on a DSLR, it will probably go towards another rep - very likely an AP secs@12. Cheers Siesta
  6. Hey Cara, Thanks for all the effort. Wouldn't it be great if the chinese can come up with a minute repeater. I'd be the first to buy.... One can dream!!! Cheers Siesta
  7. Yup.. another excellent decision by RWG mods. You guys ever thought of running a country? Mine's in need of someone with a heart.
  8. Finally some good news. Lets hope that this crystal doesn't explode as well.
  9. Not yet. Gonna need luming as well. But first thing is to find the right dial. Need to get the earlier 127 dials. Cheers Siesta
  10. Thanks Addirk, For VAC, service and lume. Ok, lets get back to point. Any suggestions of a location?
  11. Okay Taka... A quick preview.. My 183 just came back from Vac. Any suggestions for a strap??? I have in mind a thick (maybe 4 ~ 5mm) dark brown gator strap. Guys know where I can get one. I prefer the "bamboo" pattern gator. Less sporty and dressier. Wat do you guys think? Can someone bring an AP @12secs for the next gtg? Pretty please... Cheers Siesta
  12. Informative post. Thanks for this. Would never have known about this. Too big of a chicken to open up a gen. @chrgod, you are right. So obvious when pointed out. Thanks Robbie
  13. Looks kinda complicated to be repped accurately... but wat do I know. The factories have come up with some pretty amazing stuff lately.
  14. Hey there.... Read. Tons of stuff to pick up. Caters to all tastes. Have your credit cards ready. You are gonna need it.
  15. Oh dear.... I have this sinking feeling that I will have a white discovery on my wrist soon. Excellent review BT.
  16. Guys, I have been in the rep game for too long without finding safe havens like RWG I and RWG II. Without these forums, rep collection is a souless hobby. A competition of who has the most moolah to buy the most reps. These forums provide an avenue for the knowledgeable to impart what they know and for the newbies to learn. Noobs NEED safe havens like RWG. Noobs NEED the guidance and the experts should impart wat they want to impart. Noobs will always ask first, think later. Can't help it. Its the sheer adrenalin rush of finding this place. I remembered that my first question here was where to find a replacement crystal for my fiddy (hey...how was i to know that replacement crystal were a dime a dozen!!!!). Lukewarm response but I didn't care....I read thru the threads and thank god I did. My posts are more calculated nowadays. Hopefully Wih regards to contribution to pictorials. My Olympus P&S POS just doesn't measure up. Lets not even go to the knowledge of lightings and light tents and angles etc etc etc.... I don't want to be posting f*&%d up pictures eating up bandwidth... Have you guys seen my pictures? A retard who smokes with too much caffeine in his system has no business behind a camera. No business whatsoever but I am learning to take better pixtures. Trust me... the current and old pictorials are very much appreciated even if they are not responded to. The alternative (my pictorials) will just scar your retinas. So what do you guys think of the Pentax KD100 Super??? Ooppps... there I go thread crapping again.
  17. +1. Time and place. Evenings are fine but we won't get to see the lume then. Light bulbs can only do so much as we found out last sunday....lol Just re-read the thread title.... Next Gen GTG... wat???? gens only!!!???
  18. @cornerstone - the skyland V2 looks good on you. Sheeeshh...even taka and cara concurred My groupbuy contribution. Taka has started inquiries
  19. Sept has to be evenings for me. After 7.30 will be great. Guys, wat about the groupbuy thingy from our fav dealer. the BR03-92 Military just caught my fancy. I would have posted a picture but damn company computers prevents me to upload to photobucket. King has the model with better minute markers than the previous reps. @Taka - sent you a picture of the abovementioned watch. Cheers Siesta181
  20. Hi all, I am game as well. Weekends need to confirm early. But weekdays evening should fine most of the time. See you guys soon.
  21. Great GTG, Could have easily been extended another 3 hours. After seeing Taka's and Coolfire's collection... I consider myself a noob. @taka - if you ever decide to let the 3717 go, I have first dibs. Thank god i haven't caught the rolex bug, freaking cool comex. Remember that comex, coolfire??? @coolfire - thanks for letting me in on the sg based watchsmith . Some watches won't have to go far now. will bring my doppel next time. mmmm.... where can i find a good watch briefcase.... @caracarnj - the hublot tuiga looks good on you. Hope for another gtg soon.... come on guys, singapore's not that big. Make it happen. Cheers, Siesta181 ps - just spent half an hour on carpet patrol - missing spring bar
  22. There wasn't enough pressure on the factories to improve the watch. Better more accurate reps kept coming out and ppl just moved on. It was a very nice watch though, simply elegant dress watch. Too bad abt the movement. There are some lucky owners out there but I reckon usage was low on their part. Mine never stopped or gave me problems but usage was kept to very minimal. Pity. Cheers Siesta181
  23. Oh Man.... really hope I can make it back in time. @Taka, PMed you my contact details. Hope to join the fun.
  24. Yes...anything particularly wrong with this case?
  25. Love you T. Just freaking love you..... Needless to say, I am buying 2
