  1. Have always loved this watch. Received mine recently and I have an appointment with The Zigmeister for a full mod. Honestly, quite happy with it as how it is but knowing what Rob is capable off... how can I pass up on that. Cheers mate
  2. I am at the stage where I mod my watch (of coz if its within my capability) and you know what... I have been eyeing madstal's 6 watch Panerai box... I tried on the AP at an AD earlier this work and you are absolutely right. It's calling me. Does anyone know how reliable the new movt is? Anyone??? Doomed we are all.
  3. Guess you are right. Though one caveat is that I may actually inadvertantly read up about another watch and end up with another purchase. Watch photography is one way i guess, but I am afraid that might lead to another addiction. Guess modding is the way to go huh.... Much appreciated
  4. Good point... Have yet to happen to me but its only a matter of time.
  5. Haha... good point. Haven't happened to me before but it's only a matter of time. Of coz it will not happen IF, and that's with a very very big IF, I don't order another thing again.
  6. Guys... Do you get that empty feeling when everything you have ordered has arrived. Yes, though these items (be it straps, watches, CGs or watever...) are in your hands, enjoyed and admired but there is a sense of emptiness, nothing to look forward to. No more anxiety, like there's nothing to look forward to when you check your mailbox. Worse still, you get that itch to flash out your credit card and make another transaction just to get that "feeling" again. Even if it's as insignificant as hands from DSN. Am I the only one ? I think I have a problem here. Cheers Siesta
  7. Let's see... happened when I tried to assemble my Pam 113 from various sources. Dials and hands form DSN, Case from an Asian Pam 111 and movt from what I thought to be a dead Pam 183. Everything was going fine until the retaining piece (the piece that holds the movt against the case) dropped into the movement and refuse to come out. I had to take apart the movement, remove the offending piece of metal and reassemble the movt. Shundi posted a link to a clip on the assembly of a 6497. So props to him. One more faux pas.... lume is as thin as paper but that's another story... Cheers Siesta
  8. Yup... his avatar is awesome. Does anybody know who she is.... Yor are right Laz. A Big Pilot is something i would want but not at the standard that they repped the Port Auto 7 Days. That was just downright horrible. Not even close.....
  9. Hi Guys, Just to chime in on my PAM 113 experience. I recently assembled my PAM 113 through various parts sources. Movt: Asian SN + dagger movement (Originally from my PAM 183 - It just stopped working one day, thot it was dead so I ordered another 183 from my fav dealer). But while playing around with it, it became alive but with another 183 on the way. I saved the movt for a future project (This case, a PAM 113) Dials and hands: Decided on Davidsen. His lume is good. Value for money and I think he got his hands down right. Lume on his dial somewhat disappointing. Maybe the the surface area is just too small. Cannon Pin: Davidsen. Though I might have gotten shortchanged there.....I later found a cheaper source on the internet. Case: From an Asian Pam 111h sourced from my dealer. Movement and parts saved for messing around. It was all going smoothly , hands installed and and was fixing the last movement retainer when the flat bit fell into the movement and refused to come out. Nudged with a screwdrive and the piece lodged itself nicely in the movement. All thanks to my butter fingers. I had to disassemble the whole movt... remove the offending metal piece and reassemble the movtment. This was possible thanks to Shundi who posted a clip on the 6497 movement. Absolute lifesaver. Thanks Shundi 2 hours later, my PAM 113 was born. Not the most perfect rep I have but surely the one that I appreciate the most. I'd post pics but my camera skills suck..... Thanks for reading... Cheers Siesta
  10. 0 Welcome to RWG and congrats on your purchase. Trust me,once the bug bites, the delivery man will make a stop at your place every other day and the two of you will be best of friends.
  11. Hi Pafre, Thanks for shots. I really love this watch and will mod this to the max. Was thinking of swapping movts with an ETA 7750 from Ajoes. Thots on this guys?
  12. Thanks Shundi.... You do not know how grateful I am to you. Messed up my PAM 113 when a screw dropped into the movt and refused to come out. Took the plunge and took apart the movt and 3 hours later, a nicely reassembled PAM 113. .... Maybe I can service my PAMs from now on.... lol ::
  13. Thanks M... Nice lumes. Guess I'm missing out on a lot. Appears the inner rotating bezel is lumed as well. Gonna get mine lumed up. Probably a job that I am not qualified to do. Thanks again
  14. Thank Shundi. Hmmm....Doesn't look too difficult. I know I have a 6497 lying around somewhere in my toolbox...
  15. I was begining to like you... but did you really have to end with that? ".....but nooooo... on and on it went."
  16. Guess Dabom should have been clearer in his statements and should refrain from making sweeping statements esp with regards to particular groups of people. "Why does it matter? Because people in those countries are very judgemental about what you put on your wrist, so shallow judgement deserves a shallow response!" came across condescending and dismissive. It might have been a cheeky attempt to bait for some frenly banter but not everyone would share that point of view (kind of obvious form the responses so far). So, may I humbly suggest that anyone with bone to pick to do it privately and amicably. I am new on RWG and kinds like this place. We have decent dealers, good moderators and members who are willing to go out of their way to help one another. This forum is for watches and lets keep it that way...Damn it.
  17. Dear Dabom, Read your post with great interest and felt that a response is due. Yes ppl wear reps for various reasons and I concur with your statement " like their designs, but I don't "appreciate" them. When I truly appreciate a brand, nothing less than a genuine will do." Exactly the same reason why I buys reps. But I do have to disagree with this " like Hong Kong or Singapore, where it is mandatory to wear a good watch. I may not necessarily want to bring my gen, and it's nice to have an alternative. Why does it matter? Because people in those countries are very judgemental about what you put on your wrist, so shallow judgement deserves a shallow response!" I currently live in Singapore and had had the pleasure of working in HK for several years b4 my secondment here. Yes HK and SG are some of the watch capitals of the region. (Puzzles me that you chose to exclude Japan though) I don't question the existance of shallow ppl in those 2 cities but the % would be small and the numbers added up would probably still be less than the number of shallow people where you're from. My conclusion is this, you chose (its a vacation, you chose what you want to do) to visit areas or sections of the cities where this phenomenon exists and make the generalisation that everyone's shallow. That sir, makes you a bigot. Kindest Regards Siesta181 *Some kind advice, enjoy your stay in these 2 countries and take advantage of their hospitalities. Kindly leave your personal views at home. Better still, cancel the bookings. I am quite sure you will have a much better time having constructive discussions with your non-shallow peers back home
  18. Guys, Just got my Slevin. Very much how i expected it. You just need to be prepared for the shortcomings already discussed Quick request, can somone post a lume shot just to see what I'm missing out. I remembered reading that Kruezer had his Slevin lumed up but just can't find the thread(or pics). Pls... pretty pls Cheers Siesta
  19. To interested parties out there, Couldn't wait for a reply from Angus (honestly, I don't think I can go thru the hassle of sending it back and waiting for it to return.... too many things can go wrong). Diagnosis by The Zigmeister was spot on. Faulty Cannon pin. Executed as per instructed by Rob Total time taken to fix this: About 2 hours (Okay, okay...... closer to 3 hours) Level of difficulty: Probably a 5/10 Remedy: 1. Gently squeeze cannon pin at the hairline dent (visible under loupe - mine was 5x, you can feel it if you run a penknife across it). This dent is located below the bearing that you fix the hour hand to. Remember gently increase pressure (the cannon pin can break). From time to time, turn the crown to check on resistance. Repeat until there's resistance turning the crown (Time setting mode). Patience is criitcal here. I just finished fixing the dial and hands. Gonna leave the movement out of case for the night just to make sure the clearance between the hands is right The other option would have been to replace the cannon pin set. Should work as well. Cheers everyone. Siesta
  20. Haha... Learning something new everyday.... Thanks Rob for clearing that up. Cheers and a good weekend to everyone.
  21. Thank RG. Looks like I have something to do over the weekend. Didn't quite catch "and Bob (not nanuq) is you uncle..." though. Flew right over my head. Who's Bob and nanuq???
  22. Hi The Zigmeister, You are right... no resistance when moving the hands (compared to my other 6497s). Will replacing the cannon pinion solve this? My skills are amateurish at best (Replacing the recessed PAM cannon pins and half decent attempts at luming sandwich dials). I would hate to send the watch back. Been lucky so far, first defective movt. Guess it's a numbers game. Thanks for the response The Zigmeister.
  23. Guys, Just received a new PAM 111H from Angus, Watch looks good, winds okay, seconds hand moves but the minute hand does not move (ie the hour hand does not move also). However, time can be adjusted or changed manually. Any quick fix for this. I did send Angus an email, awaiting his reply. But it would be good to hear from the resident experts here about this. Sending watch back is my last option (that is if I hear from Angus...) Kindest Regards Siesta
