  2. P, I like this concept. I'm thinking a simple run of clear silicone around the joint would achieve much the same effect. However my concern is that the original laminating glue was either - 1 Incorrect. 2 Out of date, 3 Poorly applied, or not UV set correctly. I have the watch with the above problem incoming in the next 24 hours. I am going to seperate the 2 laminations using acetone (or whatever it takes- maybe water will do it?), then clean up the faces and relaminate with decent UV glue, and apply a silicone seal around the circumference. I just really think that someone in the crystal factory has f**ked up big time, and used the incorrect bottle of glue! Probably some water based thing, maybe even "Clag" paper glue But there are now a minimum of 1000 crystals out in the market place, and you can bet they won't replace them in the new watches, until the old supply is used up, so a solution must be found. I will document my process and report it once under way. Offshore
  3. Oh I don't think he will ever ship them. If however the objection that I haven't paid is used, I'll pay via CC, then challenge him to ship! He is however bound by his contract with Ebay, so he may have 2nd thoughts, especially if he receives a legal demand....(I happen to have a barrister who is a family friend who does my work free! ) Haven't finally decided which way to jump...but I'm thinking it really is too much hassle. O/S
  4. Yeh I totally agree....sort of makes a nonsense of ebay and auctions though. Maybe I should just send a bill for my time lost watching this one Offshore
  5. I had what I thought was a big win on ebay yesterday. http://cgi.ebay.com....IT#ht_500wt_947 Have just received contact from the seller, and he wants out of the deal. So what does the membership think? Do I gracefully walk away, or make a prick of myself.?? I fully realised something wasn't right...I actually can't believe it slipped under the radar like this. Maybe everyone was scared because they were too cheap! I can't register anything with ebay for 10 days, and hold little hope of forcing the seller to a deal. Maybe easier to cut the losses? Offshore
  6. Welcome aboard...enjoy the ride. Offshore
  7. Good to see Red. Congrats, both for the quantity, but more for the quality content. O/S @Hike...Now thats a dirty bum....but nice!
  8. @sfa, Shipped a few replacements this morning. You should find something in there to put it back together! O/S
  9. Maybe its the complete movement moving inside the case? Just either a missing spacer or non secure movement clamps? O/S
  10. Does anyone have a set of parts lists and/or tech drawings for any or all Rolex models? I am developing a relationship with a guy who has access to a lot of Rolex stuff, but its pretty hard to talk specifics without having model/parts numbers. Even if we can get some bits of info from various members here, I will take it on myself to compile a workable database. All info greatly accepted. Offshore Edit: I may have partly answered my own question...Dumb...didn't think to check Cousins. http://www.cousinsuk.com/document/category/199.aspx
  11. Ummm, Would these do? http://watchbitz.com...d&productId=299 Don't forget, that is "retail", there is an extra discount for RWG members who are registered on the site. Offshore
  12. I've gotta agree with Freddy &Chief here...whilst a Dremel is an indispensable little multi tool, if you are going to get serious about polishing, a bench grinder with a tapered spindle and polishing mop is the way to go. We sell a mini bench grinder-http://watchbitz.com.au/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=237, which has a Dremel style attachment. (Its too heavy to ship cost effectively outside of Oz though...you may find one locally) Now this unit can be fitted with a tapered spindle and a polishing mop, and will JUST do the job. Anyone who gets really serious about polishing, finally finds that they need at the very least a 6" grinder, and preferably an 8", and the higher the wattage (+500) the better. At the end of the day a Dremel won't really pack the punch (torque) to do any serious polishing...our mini unit is fine for hobbyists....but when it comes to serious polishing, you will never beat something with a load of grunt. Offshore
  13. Cats, Part of the Polywatch process, is that it "melts" the acrylic crystal a little and fills the "craters" with the melted product. So I don't think using a Dremel is going to achieve much...also the product is more liquid than abrasive, so again I doubt a Dremel is going to increase the effectiveness. O/S
  14. Thanks for your contributions bwhitesox. You are certainly part of this "family" and we look forward to you dropping by from time to time. Offshore
  15. And as all the others have said, keep it to a maximum of 2 or 3. The other thing a customs seizure does for you,is flag your name and addy for future purchases, so EVERYTHING which comes in will be inspected. O/S
  16. Ummm, The bottom line of the advert says- I guess the answer is No! O/S
  17. Are you talking brush plating here? http://www.caswellplating.com/kits/fastgold.htm If so, I tried this with limited success. The issue is in identifying what metal you are plating! (Same applies to dip plating) I recently sold my kit, as i was unhappy with the results. O/S
  18. Try various diameter springbars and bending 1st....then if all else fails, think about redrilling the holes. There may be some ability to modify the endlinks to help as well,...you will just have to think that one through. O/S
  19. Not uncommon Matt. You may need to try different diameter springbars, and/or bent or curved springbars. There is not a lot of thought given to the location of the holes in the case vs bracelet/endlink thickness, and much "manipulation" takes place during assembly of the bracelet onto the case. You may even have to redrill one or both holes, although if it had a bracelet fitted, it proves that it should happen again. There are many different diameters to try ...standard sizes start at 1.30mm.... also there are special pliers available to bend springbars- http://watchbitz.com.au/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=278 O/S
  20. @All, I have just edited a post, where a tracking # was quoted! Now, whilst we spend a lot of time, money and effort to protect our members and collectors in this place, we will always be under scrutiny. So references to individuals names have always been a No-No!, but if we start handing out readily traceable info such as tracking #, we will find individuals coming under heavy scrutiny. Please, have a think before posting ANYTHING which may lead "THEM" to either a buyer or seller. We do have a PM system where more personal info may be exchanged...so please use it! Just think a little about what you are posting, and the potential repercussions for yourself and anyone you may identify. Offshore
  21. Hey I just received a 2nd contact from (my) barrister So here's a deal for someone in the UK...just go around and collect this on my behalf, (I'll give you my Swiss account info), and you can cut yourself 10% of my inheritance! I know...I know...generous to a fault I am....just let me know when the "moneys' in the bank" (Do they really think we believe this crap?) Offshore
  22. @ All, This upgrade didn't just happen "overnight". It has been the subject of planning and discussion for a couple of months, and our illustrious leader has been spending much time in the cellar with his trusty wrench, making sure there were not too many issues when the button was finally pushed! So firstly a huge thanks to T for his tireless dedication to our home, and for giving it a "spring clean", and a coat of paint. However this is just the start of the renovations planned, so I'm sure you will continue to see more upgrades, changes and new features to keep this, our home, both sparkling clean, up to date and operational. Thanks again T, we do really appreciate your untiring efforts and devotion to this place. Offshore
  23. May be something in this lot for someone...he has 6 various cases listed...check his other items. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ORIGINAL-VINTAGE-STAINLESS-STEEL-ROLEXCASE-DATE-REF6530-/190401721163?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Wristwatches&hash=item2c54d3b34b#ht_1047wt_930 Unknown seller. Offshore
