Are you offering these for sale Senator? If so, you have posted in the wrong area! There are also other rules to follow when posting FS, so please read up before posting. Thanks. Offshore

Here in Oz, Rolex AD's can't even get parts supply, all watches have to go to Rolex Service for repair...= very high service costs. Of late Swatch are dramatically increasing parts costs, and won't even supply ETA parts if they are for an ETA fitted to a watch that is not part of their stable. For instance when you call to order, you are asked what brand its for. If you say for instance "Tag Heuer" the answer is, "We don't supply for them" "Call Tag" So its ALWAYS a part for an "inhouse" watch, if you want the part! I recently priced a crystal for a Rado @ $120. The client deferred the repair, and came back to me 6 weeks later and said "Go ahead". When I went to order the price was $380!!!! Now thats inflation for you! (And the job was lost and I was a "rip off" merchant...how do you explain this mentality to clients???) I have a Rolex DJ on my bench right now, which needs a simple part. I will need to shop all around the world to get the part, (I'm sure its available somewhere) The bigger question is the cost of finding the part...I'll spend 2-3 hours on emails and research... then have a customer bitching when I charge a finders fee! The story here, is that the cost of servicing and repair on mech watches, is going to increase dramatically, mainly due to the cost of sourcing items...forget making money from actually have a technical ability...its all about knowing where to buy at the best price! Here is a great example of the EMS "Black Hole" I have been waiting urgently for a couple of items, so i check again this morning and EMS tracking shows.- 2010-05-25 21:55:00GUANGZHOU Posting 2010-05-25 22:52:00GUANGZHOU Despatch from Sorting Center 2010-05-26 04:12:00GUANGZHOU Arrival at Sorting Center 2010-05-26 05:12:00GUANGZHOU Handed over to Customs 2010-05-28 00:28:00GUANGZHOU Released from Customs 2010-05-28 00:58:00GUANGZHOU Despatch from Sorting Center So I decide to check my local post tracking, and find the goods were received in this country 24 hours ago and are waiting at my local PO for collection. :: shakes head:: So DO NOT rely on EMS to have anything like updated info. These goods were able to travel, AND be delivered before EMS could update! Offshore

Take your finger off that trigger...there will always be another! (May even do you a deal of one of mine -IF I buy them!) Have patience. O/S

What about this lot, got the lot for under U$200! All in pristine condition, serviced. Yes there are some bargains on the 'bay! You do need to know your seller though. Offshore
-
No, however I doubt that is actually the "market". It will only be a seller who got smart and registered that name! Stick to those we know here, you'll be safer. O/S

Can assure you that the average Aussie tool seller is VERY aware of whats going down- http://www.rwgforum.com/topic/117252-whos-been-watching-exchange-rates/ O/S

No, although she'd probably be a good recruit.!!

I'll bet there is an instruction of "Return to Casio for service" I would hate to see the service manual if one existed.......the test equipment to work on this thing would be akin to a computer! Oh well,l another one that watchmakers can't touch! Offshore -
Yeh...Move out on Tuesday... the place is full of Poms! Offshore

I replaced the existing bulbs with spiral fluros, which were the brightest i could get at the time. I also use an LED reading light above the tent, and the light is barely adequate now. If you look at some of my Watch Bitz shop photos you will see I still have to photoshop with heaps of fill light. O/S -
Hmmmm...If you stripped "Dame Edna" down, you wouldn't get what you thought either! O/S

I think I need some of whatever it is that you're having! O/S

Franke, Finding and getting supply of watches is the simple bit. Managing the business, whilst avoiding visits from both customs, government fair trading organisations, and the legal representatives of the watch companies, is a very different matter. As Ubi said,...many have come and gone....and only the very astute and knowledgable remain in business. Frankly, the fact that you feel the need to ask the question, should actually give you your answer. Ask yourself another question...."Do I fancy jail time, for a few bucks?" Offshore

FWIW, this was available last year for $10.00! ( Must be the rising cost of living ) http://www.rwgforum.com/topic/104744-lighting-studio-kit-1saleaday-com/page__p__722848__hl__photo%20studio__fromsearch__1&#entry722848 My good friend Toad, arranged to have one sent to me here in Oz. I use it daily for my shop for tools photography. The supplied lights, won't meet the needs of our people for watch shots, however there are other bulbs which will fit, which give an adequate result. Otherwise forget the lights, and use some other lighting...hell.. for this price, the tent setup is good buying alone! Offshore -
Now there's an interesting idea....although I'm sure others would find a way to "fudge" the figures Dunno if its possible or feasible though?? O/S

Interesting post P4! There are many things afoot here which will become evident fairly shortly. We do keep working to enhance the experience. Although..... whilst the volume of posts may be less than elsewhere, the quality still remains at its high level. Maybe we just have more serious collectors, who don't get so involved in all the trivialities? One point I can categorically make, is that the amount of business which flows into my tools business, is twice as high from RWG2, than any from other forum! Again...more serious collectors? Offshore

I have a close mate, who has only worn a watch, infrequently, over the last 30 years. He made a concious decision not to wear a watch unless he really needed one, so he now has a Suunto Yachtie for boating, and a Seiko Monster for diving. Apart from those 2 times he never wears a watch. ( Although he has 2 large boats, and spends weeks at a time on them!) O/S (Shame on you Delta...we'll have to find some sort of punishment for this transgression! )
