Jimmy. You will note that this doesn't always apply! Only happens some times. It is due to the fact I beleive, that a previous post in that thread, had a wider inserted item. Sometimes a pic, but in most cases it is someones signature. We do need to get everyone to have a look at their siggys and modify them for width, as like you, it really becomes most frustrating. But aside from removing signatures, I don't think there is a lot that can be done from the forums' control point. I suppose we could just ban everyone with a wide siggy JK. Offshore

Will have that looked at as well. O/S

We will have feedback available just as soon as software to run it becomes available. It is 3rd party, so we depend on an independent developer to upgrade I believe. O/S

See...we said the forum would be quicker O/S

@b16, What browser? If it is IE6.... either update, or try Chrome or Firefox. This has previously fixed problems such as you are having. O/S

@Freddy, I do think it is a matter of what combination hardware/operating system/browser combo you run. I'm not at all technical, but do try to use newer things. Have 2- 3 month old hardware, running Win 7 (release agent) and Chrome browser. Lightning fast! Have had 2 occasions only in the last days when I had maybe a 10-15 second lag opening reply windows. And had 1 instance when a page loaded very slowly, but I suspect it was a photo on that page, as the rest of the page loaded way quicker than this one photo. Hope this helps. Offshore

Yeh Good to see you around again old friend. Don't be a stranger.. eh! Offshore

Yeah, Just reading that! Whilst I was never a great fan of his (read: perceived arrogance)I can only hope he is still at the top of his game. It would be a pity to see this once great driver return and be an also ran. He is coming back to a lower performing car, after a long time away,so one hopes he can still hack it with the best. No Jody- White pointers are breasts=topless. Kiwis are the hoards of sometimes unwelcome immigrants to Australia, many of whom live in Bondi, (or on the Gold Coast)They flock here for our unemployment benefits The Kiwi male population have an unenviable reputation, for their preference for sheep over women, although they obviously consider our kangaroos fair game as well And my reference to Taronga Park is the zoo located there....with many kangaroos and other Oz wildlife....ideal for the Kiwi sheep shaggers Hope that explains that bit of Oz- Kiwi banter. Price is not the point! Just buy from a Bergeon dealer, or where you can get a guarantee that it is original! There are a few "tells" but not worth the risk. O/S

There are a lot of copy Bergeon openers out there. Most have faulty flutes on (at least) the 29.5 die, and you WILL scratch your caseback, if you use them. Trust me, I have personal experience! You can buy one of the cheaper sets, and buy a gen 29.5 die, (which needs a slight mod- not difficult- to fit on the bar), however the potential for some of the other dies to mark case backs is always there! For mine... and I bought a cheapy to start... just pony up for the gen in this instance! O/S

Works for me...although it now finds posts, not topics! O/S

But they're all biased Col! However, maybe its time to have a few words to say about the upgrade. Firstly, I am an old fart who hates change, and who was more than happy with our old colours and skin. The old layout was constantly being changed and tweaked, to better reflect and present this place, so I dont think layout is much of an issue. (And it will continue to be fine tuned) In fact we had looked at quite a number of changes in the last months, but had opted to leave a major redesign of the layout, until this upgrade, which we knew was coming. I seriously come from the school which says, If it aint broke, dont fix it Unfortunately the software we were working with WAS broke, as was evidenced by the speed of the forum (and the fact the software manufacturer had made a major upgrade available) We were also doing a lot more "tidying up" behind the scenes. We even gave consideration (Very seriously) to other software, but the amount of information which would have been lost was finally unacceptable. Planning for this upgrade has taken weeks/months. We spent 1 week amongst the admin team, just discussing just which skin we should run with, and do you know something?, we in the admin team couldnt finally reach a consensus! So we then realised that whatever was chosen, was not going to be to everyones liking. In fact we would have liked to offer a larger number of alternative skins, but they are not yet available to run. As the software matures, Im sure we will get more options, and we will work to tune what is available. The admin team, and T in particular, have put a huge amount of work into this upgrade. We have now arrived at what we have, and will continue to tweak things to best offer our members the finest experience we possibly can. I would add that in the last day we have had the most members online at any one time-EVER. We have had the most member visits in one day- EVER. And we are at, or are about to top a membership level of 21,000. When you consider that we remove inactive members from this place on a regular basis, you may then understand the level of membership we have, who are actually ACTIVE members here. So finally, Im with a lot of you....not all that fussed about all the change..... having to use my brain a bit more to work through all the new and different settings.... which is a PITA....(especially with all the extra stuff we have in admin)...however I do understand that what is being done here, is finally for the best, and shows the teams commitment to continue to offer the highest level of information sharing we possibly can, along with the most up to date forum in the watch world. Finally, I would like to acknowledge Thomas for his ongoing commitment, and dedication to this place...it sure would be a grubby household, uncleaned, unpainted, unloved, if it wasn't for him running round with the broom, vacuum, and paintbrush. Probably the one thing which is most frustrating, is the various page widths. Some require max scrolling left/right, whilst others are centred with large outside borders. Is this a browser, monitor, or forum software issue (or combination?) Used to get it every so often before ( and put it down to long signatures or oversized pic posts) but it seems more prevalent now. Offshore

@CM, Look at the drop down menu on your user name...top right. That's the only place I can find PM's. O/S
-
It may be the difference between "View new content"- upper right...and "All new content' top of forum- left? So many new things in here.... and T is still working in the background, furiously tweaking bits! We may just have to be patient for a little while, until more stuff is upgraded. I am seriously chuffed at the speed now.... greased lightning. Offshore
-
Is there an issue with sizing of the page? In the RWG version, I need to scroll across to view all the content....but not in "The dark Side" I'm sure there will be a myriad of little tweaks needed, which will be worked thru. Offshore

Dan, No, there aren't any dealers in Oz.(or not any we can recommend) Customs shouldn't pose problems, unless you have an invoice attached showing over $1k- then you'll get hit with GST. Obviously there shouldn't be any reference to "replica" Offshore

Welcome aboard Dan! We have a few members here in sunny Queensland. As Ken said, I'm on the coast, and we have another very active member on the Sunny coast, plus a couple in Bris Vegas. If you ever come down to the coast, shoot me a PM, and we can catch up. Offshore

A first today, i left the apt without a watch!
offshore replied to slask111's topic in General Discussion
Yeh donchya hate that! I left mine off one morning, got 10kms towards work, and turned around! I then even took an extra quartz watch I had, and put it in the drawer at work, just in case! Worse than naked in the hotel corridor! Offshore -
Check out this "Closing Down Sale" - 8 Breitlings

Gee..thats a bargain !!! It would actually be interesting to let it run, and see where it went to from a bidding perspective. Reported. Offshore. -
I don't have those, if thats what's needed. O/S

@KVD, Have you a shot(photo) of the existing screw (pull another out) I suspect it may be a screw each end, with a female threaded joiner in the centre. (I don't know the watch) If so, I will have some, although would need also the diam of the screw head. Offshore
