  2. @Z, I have found a source for paper here in Oz, so if you research enough, I'm sure you will find one in US/Can. Initially I was cutting larger rolls down, however locally there is a company making the correct size for use in heart monitor machines. I have to wait for them to do a run, and tag on for a small quantity. It was not worth airfreighting from the USA, as it doubled the cost. Start your search with NCR. Will be interesting to see if machine parts are still available from Europe?? O/S
  3. I think that's Sonny & Cher's daughter?? If so, she's certainly NOT a chip of the old block! O/S
  4. Nah.......thats BIG enough for me.....actually far too big (All that meat...and no potatoes ) O/S
  5. Welcome, and thanks for coming on board! As others have said, the empty wallet trick is the one most seen here...so maybe you need to become a pro magician, who can make $$ appear Offshore
  6. Actually Ken, I thought it was a print out of your browser history O/S
  7. Just finished doing a battery replacement on a "Diesel" watch. Now, the client had asked that it also be waterproof tested. On removing the snap style caseback, I was astounded that it was metal to metal, there was no seal....and due to the way it has been designed, there is no possibility of fitting a seal! Yet the watch is clearly marked 5 Bar, on the dial! A further investigation of the stem revealed no seal either. Now I could modify a few things and get an O ring in there, but this is sort of way beyond a WP test. Went ahead anyway and tested the watch, and not surprisingly it failed with leaks at the rear (multiple) and the stem. So I called the owner, and asked if he had ever had this watch under, or near, water. The answer was an unsurprising NO, although the watch had been purchased a couple of years ago, in good faith, as WP, and there was always the thought that it could be submerged. I explained the scenario, and he has accepted that this now is a 'dry" watch, as he doesn't want to outlay more $$ in a probable futile attempt to WP it. I see this sort of crap regularly in cheap Chinese stuff, even a lot which have seals in place will never properly WP test, as the seals are wrong for the job. This however is the 1st half "decent" brand I have come across, which seriously had no chance of being sealed. Maybe it was a rep? Offshore
  8. Mark, You really are confused. You weren't dealing with Cornerstone! You were dealing with another of the admin team, who hasn't as yet logged in. I'm sure he will "have a chat"- when he arrives! Offshore
  9. I am a little bemused. In my world here in Oz, all reporting of this has dropped off the radar. It is like a censorship net has been placed over the whole affair Surely Max & Bernie don't wield THAT much power Am interested to know if it still getting hot press in other parts of the world. On our news last night, a spokesman for the Melbourne GP, said a few words which were to throw oil on troubled waters, and basically said it will be sorted. Then the previously high levels of reporting ceased. Sure- I can still find info if I Google worldwide, but not too much here in Oz! WTF. Offshore
  10. Well Mark I have read the PM's regarding this transaction, and your version doesn't actually tie up with what was being said then. I think it is best to wait until the admin in question is on the board, and has an opportunity to set the record straight. I will tell the members that this situation was discussed amongst all the team at the time, and based on what had taken place, the team 100% endorsed the action to remove Mark as a dealer....NOT because it had affected a team member, BUT because we were appalled at the level of customer support and backup, AFTER a watch which was supplied, SUPPOSEDLY QC 'd, had 3 different problems shortly after delivery. Let's all take a deep breath, and await the admin members' input. Offshore
  11. So the team owners assoc (FOTA) have had enough of Max & Bernie, and are now going to do their own thing! Probably not a bad thing. However I see some sizeable lawsuits in the wind.... Bernie won't take this lying down, and he claims 3 of the teams have already contracted for 2010, which they dispute. Reckon the lawyers will have a field day. And it would be interesting to know the clauses in the various contracts with the circuits Can see some fun and games being played out over this little stoush. Watch out for the fireworks, it will be a big bang. Offshore
  12. Well, there are dearer options like a 5338-2F Bob, unfortunately without the right tools, you will not get it open. Best take it to a watchmaker, who has the right gear. Offshore
  13. I don't specifically know this watch, but my guess is it has a split stem. Here is a tut on them. http://montresuisses.blogspot.com/2007/01/...iece-watch.html You can research split stems or two piece stems around the net, and should get your answers. Offshore
  14. Laz, Having a bit of knowledge of ebay & PP, and the refund process, I say to you, do not depend on either of these to achieve anything for you. I think your only chance for resolution, is firstly to have an address of the seller, and then to get someone who is close, to take the bag back to the seller, face to face, and swap bag for $$. Any other attempt to sort this will only now get worse, not better! Hope you can get some sort of a resolution on this one, but fear not. A genuine address of the seller, is your strong point right now. Offshore
  15. Maybe you need to think about going the alum spice route? http://www.rwg.cc/members/alum-spice-disso...;hl=broken+stem If not immersion in vinegar for 4 days to a week will normally do the trick. Must say I haven't enjoyed a lot of success with alum, and you do need to keep checking how the stem is dissolving with vinegar. I inadvertantly left a crown in vinegar for about 10 days, and found the crown female thread had started to degrade. Finally needed to use some metal glue to hold a wobbly crown/stem, but it worked. Better than scrapping expensive or hard to replace crowns. Offshore
  16. Have a good one Froggy! Offshore
  17. No, to open (some) Omega & (most) Rx other tools are needed, and cannot be bought for low prices..... no matter what you are otherwise told. The crab claw can be had for around $10 from memory, although there are high and low quality versions of it as well. O/S
  18. Guys, All these friction tools, only work on casebacks that are pretty loose to start with. If a caseback has been tightened with a proper tool, you will never undo it with any friction style tool. I open maybe 10 - 15 screw backs each day, and don't even waste my time with the friction tools. My first choice is a crab claw, and if it either doesn't fit, or won't open the back, then some serious gear needs to be used. This friction tool thing, is almost a myth....go and talk to any serious watchsmith, and most won't even have heard of these things! I was talking to a master watchmaker a couple of days ago, and made reference to these, and he had no idea what I was talking about. Seriously, these things are toys, when it comes to a "sealed" case back! My 0.02c FWIW. O/S PS, And duct tape falls into the same category!
  19. Well you will need a movement holder, to remove the hands and dial. There are many types- http://www.findingking.com/c-2913-watch-mo....aspx?pagenum=1 Here are 3 pages of various styles. I like the spring loaded plastic job- and have a couple of them. They are good units as they fit many various sizes. Also have a few of the others, some will double as case holders, which sometimes are needed to get screw backs off. Hope this helps a bit. O/S
  20. The only one I know of which will do 1000m is the Sigma, out of Switzerland. But it needs a seperate compressor, and booster, to raise the necessary pressure. This is a serious bit of kit, and would be for specialised applications only, ....methinks the apprentice doesn't know his conversion tables all that well! 100m or 330ft is way beyond a depth a SCUBA diver on air can dive, without dying, so there is no real reason for normal watch shops to test beyond this. And as the cost of equipment increases at about X5 the depth tested there are few shops who go beyond 100m. Glad to hear of a rep testing like that out of the box. Unfortunately, it doesn't mean the next one of that model will do the same, it could fail at 1m! That's reps I guess. O/S
  21. Give it 30 days, on the wrist, to see if it settles down. O/S
