  1. Hi all, I have just received a beautiful di modell rallye strap for my Carrera (thanks to Tom Hawkes recommendation in another thread) I tried to remove the bracelet on the Carrera but can't seem to get it off. How does it come off ? I have a spring bar tool but it appears too big. Do I need a smaller spring bar tool or something else ? Help appreciated, thanks

Nice looking watch TJ. I also agree that this would look stunning on a SS strap. Good luck with the wedding. Love the watch idea with the best men !
  4. Hey Mars, I think you mean one of these: Bracelet tools, the spring bar tool has pin removers on one side and spring bar removers on the other. Further down the page are cheap pin remover tools.
  5. Ona semi-serious note, the SAS is probably the best of the groups mentioned, due to a long track record (since 1941) of making life miserable for bad guys from Nazi Germany to al-Qaeda. The British Special Air Service is one of the most well-known special operations groups. It got its start in World War II, when it carried out numerous missions in North Africa under David Stirling ? making life miserable for the Afrika Korps. The 22nd SAS is the active duty regiment, and has four ?Sabre? squadrons (A, B, D, and G Squadrons), each with 6 officers and 78 men. Two reserve SAS regiments also exist, the 21st (with A, C, and E Squadrons) and the 23rd (with A, B, and C squadrons). When support troops like the 264th Squadron (a communications unit) various headquarters units, and the retirees of R Squadron are added, that the SAS consists of about 1,000 men. Not as well-known as the SAS, but even more selective, is the Special Boat Section (SBS). This unit consists of three squadrons (C, M, and S Squadrons) and is part of the Royal Marines. SBS members first must undergo SAS selection, then receive additional training in diving, photography, canoeing, and other skills. Among its operations include missions to convince Iraqi troops that amphibious landings were imminent in the 1991 liberation of Kuwait (a mission also performed by SEALs), the liberation of South Georgia during the Falklands War, and covert operations in Northern Ireland.
  6. I think the debate ends here ! The no.1 crack special forces team is..... Ten years ago / In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The A-Team.
  7. Welcome to the good ship RWG

  9. Hi Dani, I feel for you. The UK is very much the same. Glad to hear we are not the only ones suffering. Immigrants here get free health care, free housing and money on top, and then they go and get jobs paying cash and make double the money !!
  10. Thanks Tom, I think I amsold on the Di Modell strap, just need to find a UK seller for speedy delivery !
  11. Hi All, A very interesting thread on a topic I have been thinking about recently as I am sure many of you have. Here are my thoughts on the repercussions of high fuel and therefore power prices i.e. gas and electricity 1) Good - For all the campaigning the tree hugging, sandal wearing greenites have been doing, I believe that the high cost of power will be the biggest cintributor to people going green and cutting their carbon footprint 2) Bad - The cost of many goods we take for granted will rocket. Why ? Many cheap goods come from the Far East. The cost of transporting these will soon be prohibitive and therefore their price will rise 3) Good - As cheap far eastern goods rise in price, comparable to domestically produced goods, there will be more demand for domestic products, creating jobs - note though, that many western countries have lost their manufacturing capabilities so it is not all good Finally, for those that haven't seen it and to get another perspective on our changing world, spare 6 minutes and watch this:
  12. Hi Tom, Do you have a Di Modell strap ? What do you think of it ?
  13. If you don't mind, how much are these ?
  14. Hi all, I have a lovely Tag Carrera (not grand), like the Lewis Hamilton version, which I bought from John at UK Watches. In the AD at the weekend, they had on display the same watch with the steel bracelet (like mine) and a version with a black leather strap. The leather strap was like a racing strap, with small holes in it. It set the watch off beautifully. Does anyone know: 1) How much the gen strap costs ? 2) Where (and how much) I can get a non-gen strap of this ? Thanks for your help.

ErWinner, Congratulations ! You must be very happy with your new partner. How does it compare in feel to your GST ? also, it would be interested to know how much you paid and if you feel the additional money is worth it compared to a potential rep of this watch.
  16. What do you think are the chances of a Swatch group or Vendome wanting to make an example of a forum like this by suing them, and ultimately closing the site ? Need to keep RWG under the radar !
  17. Geez ! I am surprised you guys can decide which watch to wear in the morning. I would spend all morning deciding !
  18. There are also some interesting and reasonably priced tools here: Watchman Tools
  19. I am looking to buy a decent rep of a ldaies or mid-size Cartier Santos 100 s/s for my wife. Do any of you have any advice in this area or recommendations ? I have seen a coupl on the dealer sites but not sure if they are any good.
  20. Fantastic work and a great write up You are a credit to teh RWG community
  21. Andrew (Trustytime) and Chris (EuroTimez) both say they can waterproof and test non-chrono watches to 50m depth. Based on this thread, it suggests their claims should be taken with "a pinch of salt" Is this true ?
  22. Thanks. I will ask EuroTimex but it is taking up to 2-3 days to get a response which makes for a slow and prolonged comversation !
  23. Who sells (and which model) the best 39mm or 42mm non-chrono B&R ? Also, I understand that none of them have lume - is this correct ? I am not really bothered if it is a BR02 or BR03 as I like both - and no, I won't be buying one of each Thanks
  24. Does anyone know what the difference is between the EuroTimez Noob YachMaster Asian movement Vs swiss movement, apart from the actual movement ?
