  1. nice watch.... *sign*... I knew a rep was coming out for this sooner or later. the only flaw i can phsically see is the blue chronograph hand's are way too light. it almost looks turquiose. The gen is really dark metallic blue. And are the numerals applied? it looks like it from the photos. the gen numerals are raised from the dial.
  2. thats a nice looking watch.... looks just like mine!! here are the rest of my photos. I had both the gold hands and blue hands version. I quality of this watch is rediculously good and could never be replicated. I have so many pictures.... these are just a few I have on my server. my first portuguese... gold hands... With a rep patek in my winder These photos were meant to be a parody when someone posted their watch with a real gun
  3. of course you guys can tell the difference. thats cause you already know what to look for. the average person will not know what to look for and cannot remember every single detail of a watch. Especially if they never owned it and only seen the watch a couple times in person or just photos. I'm a IWC collector, and let me tell you..... the FA Jones is a very good rep that would fool 99% of the people out there that don't know there is a rep, don't own the watch but know what the FA Jones is. Besides, there are only 4500 FA Jones in existence. The chances of running into a FA Jones owner is not very good.
  4. I brought the rep to my IWC AD and compared the two (I wasn't shy about it because I've already purchased 4 IWC's from them) The dial and font from the original and the rep is almost identical. Unless you hold it right next to a gen, there is absolutely no possible way that anyone can spot the differences (even on the movement... unless you're a rep collector) Even the dealers couldn't tell it was a fake unless it was compared side by side. The average person wouldn't know what to spot as a rep or gen. Most people probably never seen one in person, especially for a watch that only 4500 units were produced. So how are they gonna know it's a rep or gen? Don't get me wrong, there are visible differences. It just won't be noticeable to the average person.
  5. hmmm.... I guess Amazon is the way to go... cause I got mine at Barnes & Noble for retail price
  6. I have both of those books from last year. They're not cheap, around $40 - $50 US. If you want a catalog full of watches, this is for you. It's not really useful if you want to read up to date articles and stuff. It just has a brief one or two page background of the watch company and shows all the watches new for that year. If you want a cheap alternative, for $13, pick up WatchTime's Annual buyers guide!
  7. thanks! my 3714 uses 20mm straps. i'm using a DeBeers strap for the FA Jones.
  8. I buy all my gen alligator straps here. the genesis II straps are beautiful! http://www.lonestarwatches.com/Alligator.htm Here are a few pics with my Gen 3714. The FA does feel a little too thin though... but its probably just me. I'll stop by my IWC AD and check it out.
  9. I have 20 watches and 1 wrist. How often do I wear them all? IF I really had 3K to spend, I'd buy one really nice used watch and wear it daily and enjoy the watch.
  10. it's not as bad as this one... http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Mens-18k-WG-IWC-Di...1QQcmdZViewItem
  11. The article was from 2002.... the new Aquatimer is sooooo much more superior. Here is mine...
  12. I take a bus to work everyday. And I own 4 gen IWCs
  13. Nice rims.... lets see some photos with it on! here is my E46.....
  14. Does anyone know of a good watchmaker in Seattle that deals with reps? Thanks!
  15. if the rep looks anything like the photos, there is no way anyone can spot its a fake without having a gen to compare it to side by side. yes, there are markings that aren't perfect, but there are so many markings on the movement that it makes it hard to spot.
  16. I buy all my straps at Lonestar watches. These deBeer straps are only $25 and they're really nice! I already have 2! http://www.lonestarwatches.com/deBeerBC.htm Also, if you ever want to buy a really nice genuine alligator strap, you can't go wrong with the Genesis II
  17. eddie is nuts! he is selling these babies cheap too!! I picked on up immediately after I saw this post
  18. WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO DO THAT??? Pocket watches lose soooooooooo much of it's value when the movement is marriaged with another case. Also, it has sentimental value from you grandfather, don't you want to keep it intact for years to come? You can always buy another rep panerai, but not a vintage hand-me-down watch from your grandfather. I was in the market for a couple IWC pocket watches, and my research shows that once the original movement and the case are seperated, its worth almost nothing.
  19. I do know for a fact that the GST 3707 uses a convex sapphire glass. I also read on timezone a long time ago that it was a reason why the hands were bent...... but i guess they were wrong.
  20. i only buy gens of watches that i like and there are no reps of it out.
  21. thanks... i guess i was wrong all along... i learn something new everyday.
  22. really? the dome shape is the inside of the crystal. look at the minute and second hands.... are they kind of bent? (look from an angle) that is because the crystal is domed.
  23. not sure if there are non-domed reps..... but the gen uses a domed crystal as well
  24. Pretty Cool.... obviously, you need high speed internet to enjoy this... http://www.thetimetv.com
  25. Nick Lachey got a Jacob & co. diamond watch from Jessica for his birthday a few years ago..... I wonder what nick did with it. And Leonardo DiCaprio is a avid JLC collector.. (he owns a Gyrotourbillon, Platinum Master Grand Reveil, Reverso Septantieme and a MC Geographic).... so I'm surprised he wore an Avenger.
