  1. Well, it appears they've added an AR coating, but it still lacks the display caseback and the push-button clasp. If you go to a Tag Heuer AD, and check out a link-chrono, you'll see what I mean.
  2. This might seem trivial, but I'd like the updated link chrono with double AR, display caseback, and pushbutton clasp. Pic related.
  3. Looks fake to me. It says Automatic on the dial, but the subdial configuration suggests a quartz movement. Also, the description doesn't match the images. He says it has a display back, but it doesn't. The box might be real though.
  4. That is amazing! I can't believe it's the same old watch!
  5. What a let down. I'm waiting for the day they rep the push-button clasp and display back. I can always get the AR done later, but I need those other parts to make the perfect Link chrono.
  6. Perfection. Rolex really does make the best sub!
  7. It's Thai. Very cool pics, too. Thanks abakan!
  8. That's not an Omega Seamaster replica...It's the Theta Spymaster! It's probably borderline legal as it doesn't actually infringe on any copyrights, but it does copy the design of the SMP closely. I wonder if they make those in the same factories as the Omega replicas.
  9. Got any pics of said phones? Also, where did you order them?
  10. Remove the bezel insert by heating/prying and pop out the old pearl from the back using a small jeweler's screwdriver. check size of hole against the watchmaterial pearl. Most likely, you'll need to widen it a bit. To do this, use either a jeweler's file or an exacto knife. Keep checking for a snug fit. Once it's in, add a dab of epoxy or gorilla glue to the back of the pearl to seal it in place. You can use use a file or an emery board to smooth out rough edges, but the side of the SSD links are polished, so I would recommend leaving them alone.
  11. I would leave it that way. It gives the watch character. But if you really want to restore it, just wipe some black paint in there.
  12. This is a lot of watch for $98. I was inspired by this thread enough to buy one and attempt some light modding. I did the WM pearl swap and sanded the insert(along with my fingertips) so it would sit lower in the bezel. Pics lack the bracelet because she was taking an oil bath at the time. The bracelet feels much better now. Next up are the CGs, but I'm not really sure what exact shape they need to be, and I don't have a case-back remover to get the crown out of the way.
  13. You can get Cape Cod cloths from any jeweler supplier. I got mine through Amazon. Being a quartz movement, it makes troubleshooting easier. The hand probably just came loose from the post. If it doesn't run and it bothers you, take it to a jeweler, but if it's a faux chrono, I wouldn't bother.
  14. Classic! Thanks for a good laugh!
  15. I thought most Omegas used pins, but I have heard of some reps using screws. If your watch has screws on one side, it's as easy as unscrewing them. If they are pins, you'll have to get a pin remover or take it to a jeweler. Also, don't worry too much about taking it to a jeweler(as long as it's not an authorized Omega dealer). I took a couple of my Omegas to a local jewelry store, both had some glaring errors, and he thought they were gen. Mine both had small pins which were a little too much for me to deal with. I recommend a Cape Cod polishing cloth to get out fine scratches and swirls. I don't know what to do about the loose chrono hand. You might have to find someone local that services asian movements(assuming it's not quartz). Anyway, congratulations, and wear it well!
  16. Well if it makes you feel any better, I doubt anyone will be attending his funeral.
  17. Actually LV stands for "Lunette Verde"
  18. It's a crime the reps don't come with AR
  19. Has anyone seen the new Link Chrono? I tried a blue one on the other day at the AD, and I must say I'm infatuated. The look of the dial is indescribable. I don't remember the dial looking that good on the old version, and I think they might have lightened the color a bit. They've changed the clasp to a very cool looking push button, and added a transparent case back. Those might be insignificant changes in the eyes of the rep factories, but to me, they make a huge difference. What are the chances they'll rep these new versions? Also, I can't find any good pictures other than the one on the official website. I even searched eBay. This is my new grail watch. I can't afford it, there is no rep, so if anyone at least has some pictures for me to drool on, I'd appreciate it. Here's the pic from the website:
  20. cqout.com. just do a search for seamaster
  21. Got this for $88 shipped on CQOut. I was a little disappointed that OMEGA is printed on the dial instead of the raised emblem. Also, the three o'clock marker color is way off. Don't know what I can do about that without replacing the dial. The He valve is still misaligned on this case, but it doesn't bother me. The crown guards are good. Better than the stubby ones I've seen on much pricier reps. The pearl is fairly centered. The bracelet, although lacking some finish, doesn't look that bad, and the clasp is nice and secure. Too bad the case back is wrong. It's the old style monster with waves. Sorry I couldn't take a better picture, without any AR coating, this thing is really hard to photograph. Overall, I'm happy with it. It's comfortable on the wrist and I love the new look. The local jeweler that sized it couldn't tell it was a rep. He asked me what I payed for it. I told him $20, but I doubt he took me seriously, because he was commenting afterwards about saving the links because they're worth $50 each. Anyway, here's a picture:
  22. Sure. If you're making a 2008, the cases are the same. Joshua sells one out of the box converted from a ceramic GMT to a Sub with an Asian 2836. [Link]

How can you let this beauty go? Ouch!
  24. My biggest disappointment was my UPO Lite. It's a beautiful watch, feels significant, nice blue AR, but mine came with a white datewheel Angus is searching for a black one. I hope he can source one.
