  1. If this was an off topic thread this post would be removed.... Danish by birth but naturalized Swiss, Svend Andersen does not share with Calabrese only the foundation of the A.H.C.I. but also the common apprenticeship at Patek Philippe, a highly important experience because it allowed him refining his technique and specializing in complex movements. The smallest calendar in the world and the thinnest GMT are his creations. Andersen's creative energy moves from particular complications (like the perpetual Secular Calendar or the Alarm) to the purely aesthetic (like Châton or Etrier). Among the Danish master's more particular creations is the erotic watch, discretely hidden on the back of a classic hour and minute. in Eros the automata are operated by pressure on a side pusher and do not mechanically interfere with the working of the watch. Different from the erotic pocket watches which came before it, these are made up of 11 movable elements as opposed to three or four in the others. For the year 2000 Andersen presents a new erotic subject which we could call "sports fishing" This possibility is not new in the world of "libertine" watch-making. and was used in pocket and table watches in the early XIX century where a seemingly innocent dial or cover hid scenes that were not vaguely erotic as much as they were comically depressing. The collection "Montre à tact" is also developed and interprets in an exc1usively aesthetic key the famous creations of Abraham-Louis Breguet. The new, pieces have, besides the usual "secret" display of the hour between the lugs (allowing the watch to be read without turning the dial up) two new gold dials with guilloché finish, one with traditional hours and minutes and the other with the aperture in the upper part and showing the Empire State Building.
  2. Sundial Jeff! Sundial! and its a cheap Samaritan knock off too
  3. Luba is just the best looking wife ever....that Hegre sure is some lucky Norwegian to be married to her
  4. Hey! That is the reverse side from one of my favorite watches!! This is not a titty bar watch its a masterpiece I used this as one of my very first avatars on RWG back in 2004 Its made by the famous Horologist Sven Andersen (he was originaly from Denmark) g. Sven Andersen’s "Eros" watch with erotic automata has 11 different movements, a world record. This is a fine wristwatch in gold of classic conception in normal dimensions with a simple and well legible dial. At the back of the watch, however, nothing is "classical" any more, Under a sapphire glass one discovers an automaton representing a libertine love scene. A real miniature polychrome painting, handmade, with a variety of fine details. Here is another more colourful example:

  10. Da Vinci's Last Supper has become one of the most widely appreciated masterpieces in the world. It began to acquire its unique reputation immediately after it was finished in 1498 and its prestige has never diminished. Despite the many changes in tastes, artistic styles, and rapid physical deterioration of the painting itself, the painting's status as an extraordinary creation has never been questioned nor doubted. The perfection of this work lies not only in the artistic merits of the painting, but also in Leonardo's expressive mastery. Leonardo's Last Supper is an ideal pictorial representation of the most important event in the Christian doctrine of salvation - the institution of the Eucharist. His representation of this part of the Christian story has achieved a unanimous accceptance and authority. No other painting of a Christian subject dominates our imagination with the same power of Da Vinci's Last Supper. There are countless copies and reproductions of this particular painting in homes, places of worship, and museums throughout the world. However, when thoughts turn to the Last Supper, we seem to see only Leonardo's representation before us. The painting has also been subject to much attention due to the number of restorations it has had to face since its completion in the fifteenth century. The most recent restoration lasted twenty years and has been the subject of much controversy. The painting that remains so influential has been frequently referred to as "repainted", not "restored". However, restoration has been an ongoing reality with this masterpiece due to unprecedented manner in which Leonardo painted it. Although restoration may have altered Leonardo's painting to a degree, it has prolonged the life of this painting for future generations to appreciate and view. I guess klink should be happy and flattered for thisi comparsion (odd thing is that no one in the picture actually looks like klink) but funny no this is not funny....but both leonardo and Klonk are masters be nice to k

  15. I would not be worried about Rollie...rollie is at the very hearth and origin of the genuine Panerai Now some history when..... 1938 - Inception of the first military watch of diving of the history, Will bread it Radiomir: 47 millimetres diameter, handles with wire, Rolex movement. Florence and Officine Will bread -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cradle and epicentre of the Rebirth, Florence was also briefly the capital of the very young Kingdom of Italy, between 1864 and 1870. It is at this period that Guido Panerai opens its workshop. II acts of an artisanal company, specialized in mechanical work of high precision. The quality of its production makes it possible Guido to quickly gain the confidence of the Ministry for Defense and to allocate several orders of the Navy for the production of certain instruments. This collaboration with the Italian Navy, which remains since nearly 150 years, testifies to serious and the quality of the products of this company. Unfortunately, it seems to remain no file concerning the first businesss year of the company and the oldest products that one could preserve or find date from the First World War. They are mechanical calculators intended for the launching of the torpedes starting from small boats, that Italian camouflages under the name of anti-submarine boats (FARMHOUSE), and who manufactured in 1913 and were used during the Large War. II also acts of phosphorescent devices for the night shooting of the naval guns, of apparatuses of pointing for the launching of the torpedes starting from the submarines during the Second World war, of device with delay for anti-ship mines and other very diverse instruments like the activation and ignition systems of the torpedes, the bathymeters (or depths gauge), the rockets with delay for loads of depth, the compasses of several types. Lastly, all the instruments which require a work of high precision (certain machine tools, like special turns, were manufactured directly in the factory) and whose unreliability can have consequences as dramatic as the loss of many human lives. Thus the small company florentine, become initially "Guido with the passing of years Will bread & Figlio", then "Dispensary Will bread", never yielded to temptation too much to extend and to transform themselves into a great industrial complex. The company would have indeed been likely to see the quality of its production falling for lack of hand of & run the years, the company thus preserved its aspect of "atelier ", where the former workmen teach the trade with new come. This teaching includes/understands so much a technical training on all the levels, the handling of the manual tools as the file, that the control of the machines with the most sophisticated numerical controls, without forgetting ethics house: a worship of absolute discretion induced, by the nature even of the produced materials, with the military secrecy. Parallel to the production of mechanical instruments, the company specialized in the realization of luminescent devices. Let us quote, for example, the mechanical calculator intended for the launching of the torpedes starting from surface vessels. Using Radiomir, a varnish containing radium, Guido Will bread & Figlio provides to the Italian ships a small "computer" before the letter, composed of gears instead of integrated circuits, extremely luminous even in the most total darkness. The data capture and their consultation could thus be carried out without no light on the bridge being lit, in order to prevent that the enemy does not locate the ship.... is this leading us anywhere?
  16. I love your collection I have tried and tried the search function for Maurice Lacroix to no avail. Who is selling high quality Maurice Lacroix replicas nowadays? Joshua is not selling them at the moment as far as I can tell..who is? Regards Gunnar
  17. That is what I figured you would say Murdoch I agree with the "Solidarity with Denmark, death to fascism" Still I think it is unnecessary and childish to wave the unholy pictures of the holy profet in everyones face. I can understand that you have been offended by a lot of crasy muslims but your are becoming part of a "crusade" against Islam. You can fight to better our own religion Murdoch, but its not our (your) role to better Islam. The muslims have to do that jobb themselves they probably wont listen to you. To you others.....please do not bring Hitler and the Nazis into this....I am sick and tired of those guys Regards Gunnar
