  1. There are 3 kinds of crystals in the watch world: Mineral which is basically glass Sapphire coated which is mineral sandwiched inbetween synthetic sapphire Sapphire which is synthetic lab made corundum commonly known as sapphire. Genuine sapphire is mostly blue in nature, although white sapphire does exist, pieces large enough and flawless enough to make crystals from would be almost impossible to find. Even the genuine watchmakers all use synthetic sapphire.
  2. Thanks for the clarification offshore. I now have a better understanding of the culture in that part of the world. I shall share this new information with the rest of our civilization...... Now off to the pointer bar.
  3. So if I tell my girlfriend I am going to the Kiwi bar, I won't be lying and she can't complain. Hmmm.
  4. Yes, MBW/MBK used to make that watch. Old model.
  5. What's deodorant?
  6. I thought the one Ari got at the end of last season was gold and a chronograph. If you want that watch you are talking something totally different.
  7. I think I stumbled in to the wrong thread. I have no idea what you are all talking about.
  8. +1 That's why I live in Florida.....
  9. This is how I have dressed for many years. I have a large collection of Tommy Bahama. I always say no socks with shorts, but with pants wear socks. I prefer a pair of semi casual loafers like Sandro Moscoloni, Ferragamo, David Eden or some Mezlan. Exotic skins like ostrich and eel go well with Tommy shirts. You get a nice texture to go with the print. Remeber to use baby powder when wearing shoes without socks. This will absorb the stink. If you want to be a bit more casual I prefer slides to sandals. The straps on the back are annoying and not very stylish IMO. Tommy Bahama makes some nice slides but they aren't very comfortable. If you want comfort go with some Rockport slides. The most comfortable I own and not very expensive. If you want to be a bit more trendy try a pair of Mark Nason. Very nice, uniques designs.
  10. There is a section for dealers. This is what the site is about. Read more and you will find what you are looking for.
  11. Thanks. You change one word and I get lost.
  12. Where is the view new posts button? I like the new look but I can't find this button. Help!!!!
  13. Depends on the dial. Rare dials like meteorite and mop with diamonds can go upwars of $4,000. Standard dial should be no more than $300.
  14. Some people just don't know what is obvious. I think more items should have that warning.....
  15. Well I only have three appendages so........... But I have to say more than three in one day. When I travel I usually bring 4 or 5 and rotate them throughout the day for different events. One to breakfast, one to play blackjack, one to lunch, one for dinner, one for poker, etc, etc....... Plus, if I change outfits I have to match the watch to the shirt. Sick isn't it.
  16. Great review and great pics. This watch is definitely on my list. I am quite drawn to the white dial, but the green sapphire is sooooo cool.
  17. Fort Lauderdale here. Welcome. Sorry I couldn't be at the last impromptu GTG, but would like to make the next one.
  18. So a friend of mine tells me he came into a bunch of watches. Don't ask, why, from where or how much. He tells me they look really good. Most are Rolex. Knowing I'm his friend "the watch guy" he sends me a couple and asks if I can help him sell them. After I wiped the tears from my eyes and stopped laughing, I had to explain why. You tell me................ This is the infamous single red Sea Eweller. They should have stopped at Ewe. This Datejust isn't too bad, but not near the quality we expect here. You can tell the plating is whisper thin and the watch is very light. I think I may wear this one tomorrow. It is casual Friday you know. Be very, very grateful for what we have here. This is what the rest of the world gets. Next time you obsess over the half millimeter difference in the position of the tick mark at 7 o'clock or the date that doesn't align perfectly in your window, remember most normal people are ecstatic to get one of these and will proudly sport the Ewedweller for the next month or two before it craps out............
  19. Thats for the Datejust II. All bets are off with the Day Date.......
  20. I can only assume from the pictures that they are made by the same factory as the $108 DD II. The engraving on the clasp looks the same, nice and deep and the movement appears to be some sort of asian 21j, no ETA in there or even ETA copy. I hope they make a diamond encrusted Day Date II. I would be happy then........
  21. Ditto on what Freddy said. Sometimes it is hit or miss. I have reps that still work from the 1990's and I have watches that have died withing a few days. The good news is all of your problems sound like easy repairs.
  22. Nice try at saving face. We all know you were serious. Heck, I would buy one if there was a rep....
  23. @szvwj That is a good deal on the concord. We looked at those at the Sawgrass Concord/movado outlet and they were $1700. @HaloArchive I have tried, believe me I have tried but she wont buy a "used" watch. Women...
  24. So my ex girlfriend, who I still see regularly, but we are not together but very close friends sort of thing, just graduated Law School. Her dad wants to buy her a new watch as a gift. The specifications are as follows: Must be Genuine Must be new All Stainless Steel Quartz or Auto Diamond bezel Date window Budget is $2,000 or under. Bracelet watch, no straps I sugested an Omega, but the one in that price range doesn't have a date. She already has 2 Raymond Weil's so another brand is preferable. I have searched and have come to a halt. any suggestions would be appreciated.
  25. Maybe a nice alligator strap for the Milgauss then?
