Hey man don't be hatin'
-
Yes this is a historic question for the ages. Maybe I can shed some light. I have been collecting watches for about 20 years, and I am ony 33. I watch shop NBC regularly. I have owned huundreds of watches. I really like Invicta, Swiss Legend, ETC. I have never bought an Invicta, Swiss legend, or any other low priced gen. I just can't see spending that kind of money on a quartz watch. Then they have the Automatic chronographs from time to time. I can't see myself spending over $1,000 on an Invicta. Add a little more and I have a pre-oned genuine Omega, breitling or some other REAL watch brand. Todays replicas come with all the features of the big brands regardless of what is on the dial. They have sapphire crystals, automatic movements (sometimes swiss), automatic chronograph movements and AR coating. They even have genuine ceramic and high quality gold plating. To me a $400 replica has much more value and features I look for in a watch than a $400 Invicta. I know I wouldn't be happy with one of those. Maybe someday when I can't find a good rep to buy then I will buy an Invicta.

New way to display a Premier piece or grail watch
jfreeman420 replied to fotoman's topic in General Discussion
Would be easier to drill small holes in the base for led's. Then you can hollow out part of the bottom with a router and install a battery holder for power. Whole thing would cost under $5 from Radio Shack. LED' are bright, small and easy to power. 2 to 4 AA batteries wired in series should do it. -
Joshua carries Noob factory explorer, is it real noob factory?
jfreeman420 replied to dvn's topic in General Discussion
Actualy looks like a replica to me, no way it's real....... Sorry I couldn't resist. Even if it is from the noob factory it is still not very accurate. The indices are surrounded in silver and that bugs me about the explorer II reps. -
Water resistant for 100 meter dash in the rain............ 5 points to anyone who knows who that quote is from

It does say or best offer.................

The numbers on the gen are white. Easy fix though, someone posted a tutorial a while back.

Even this guy hasn't answered the question "who has the best sub"? A forever rhetorical question even in the gen world............

This is surely a sign of a bad economy. These were made in very limited quantities. Looks like someone needs money. Maybe clients of Bernie Madoff?

I think I remember reading the old PAW was broken beyond repair? I could be wrong. Maybe we should all pitch in a few dollars to buy a new one. We can elect Kenberg to make the purchase and it will be sent to everyone who pitches in first. Then on to others. I'm in for $10 or $20.

Most of todays high vaue casino chips have small computer chips embedded into them. This is used to track when chips leave the casino and to combat counterfeits. The casinos put this into place before counterfeiting became a problem. They are always a step ahead.

Old timers....tell me bout the good ol days
jfreeman420 replied to rotten03's topic in General Discussion
There were days when people were more than happy to pay upwards of $400 for a submarinr with ETA movement that doen't come cose to the accuracy of today's $99 versions. Then there were days when most reps were selling for between $200 and $300. It has only been within the last couple of years that our replicas are being made with the same features as their gen counterparts. It is also a fairly new trend that manufacturers are purchasing the genuine watch instead of relying on pictures for the details. I still feel that most reps are a bargain. Any genuine watch with an automatic chrongraph movement, solid 316L stainless steel, sapphire crystal and AR will set you back a minimum of $2,000. With or without the name on the dial you can buy a watch with these same features for under $400. Granted you won't get the quality control as you would with a swiss made time piece, but our trusted dealers stand behind their products. Over the years the demand for quality, features and accuracy has increased. Our friends in China have delivered but you have to expect to pay for it. They do however offer a wide rane of accuracy, quality and features, as with any product line, so this hobby can still be lots of fun even with a tight budget. -
If it was made at an agent perhaps some info is wrong or more info is needed. Try calling cust. service.

If you made the transfer online and have never made a transfer online before, Western Union wants to speak with you on the phone before they send the funds. They will ask you some personal information to make sure you are the credit card holder and not laundering money or fndin terrorism. Just some security measures and I have done this before.

This watch looks sick in gold with the black MOP dial. I hope they have that version in the works.

Go for the full gold bracelet.

A little help in dispelling a myth I believe in

Well, I'm glad to see you have your priorities straight. -

I want to know how to afford a collection of genuine watches like you have on a salary unpacking boxes. Maybe I'm in the wrong business... -
Check your pm. Most of the dealers on this board have many variations of the Rolex Masterpiece. As for the size, the genuine is 39mm so that is the size you will find in the accurate reps. If yours is larger it is a fantasy model.

So shop nbc comes on with the Invicta Akula 55mm swiss ETA chronograph. Really nice watch with a gold case and leather strap. They reduced it to $372 from $700 with 6 value pays and free shipping. $62 to get this baby home. I go online, add to cart proceed to checkout and bam.............. They are sold out. Bunch of [censored] if you ask me. This is one Invicta I really like. Very unique. Maybe next time..... What a bummer.

Please stop me from ordering this Ugly POS!
jfreeman420 replied to mjmurphy926's topic in Other Brands Area
Just wait for the bright orange version encrusted with diamonds. Now that is an ugly POS............. -
So I'm watching Two and a Half Men and trolling RWG, this great bit of dialogue comes on: Charlie: So you sold me out for a watch? Alan: No, I sold you out for an officially certified chronometer. A stainless steel submariner. And look it winds itself. Later on they actually mentioned Rolex. I wonder if they paid for the product placement or gave them a couple watches. This is actually the best product placement bit ever....... Maybe I need more hobbies.....

The case looks spot on. Wider lugs just like the modern gen. Datejusts have always been some of the most accurate reps even in the lower end.

You can put a tuxedo on a pig but you still have a pig......... or something like that. I compared the gen today wit my cape codded rep. he rep is a lot closer but as already said in this thread the fit and finish is superb on the gen. The one thing that has always bothered me with rep Rolexes is the end links line up perfectly with the case on the gen. The reps always have end links that don't quite sit flush with the case. This isn't apparent in other replica brands why always with Rolex? This just goes to show there is no subsitute for quality precise machining.
