  1. Hey, i notice it and it actually bugs me. Especially when side by side with a gen Rolex...... Wait a minute am i a cumpulsive-obsessive watch nerd? Pot/kettle By-Tor Anyhoo, I polish all my new reps with a cape cod cloth. This makes the brushed effect less pronounced and shinier just like on the gens. I also find that the rep watches are filthy which adds to the dullness.
  2. I believe the older Rolexes are 316L while the modern ones are 904L, although the vintage gens still look brighter than a lot of our modern reps......... Btw, i do remember back in the day dealers used to advertise 440 surgical grade steel. I still see this advertised on lower grade reps.
  3. Rolex uses 904 steel which has a brighter appearance with more sheen. I think the 316F that is being advertised now is being made to look more like the genuine Rolex steel. If it does, I don't care what they call it it is a big improvement for our reps.
  4. How much what? I don't understand the question. Moderator I think this thread should be locked....
  5. And a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.............. Just got that one, had to read it twice...............
  6. I am getting ready to buy a new watch with the A7750 movement. I have many watches with the high beat and have only had a couple of problems over the years. I haven't been buying as many watches as I used to due to the high prices of all these super reps. I am pretty sure my next purchase will be a RG Hublot big bang with the ceramic bezel and bracelet. I haven't indulged in the Hublot craze previously because of the price and the fact they were only available with rubber straps or substandard bracelets until recently. I am more of a bracelet guy than a strap guy. So now we have available a good HBB rep with a good bracelet at a good price but the dealer offers me high beat or low beat. The price difference is negligible at this point but I have heard conflicting stories. Some say the low beat is more reliable and some say high beat is the way to go. Which should I buy?
  7. Yes "dealer" does sound like the guy behind the 7-11 that I go to at about 2am, or so I have heard....
  8. Franken with gen valjoux 7750 gen pushers, gen bracelet? Maybe all gen heck I have no idea........
  9. Saw this on Hont's site and began searching for some pics of the gen because something wasn't right. Not a bad replica of a complicated watch. These types of watches usually don't interest me but something about this unique design has caught my attention. It looks like a pretty decent attempt at a very rare watch. The second set of pictures is from the web and is another version I haven't seen from our dealers. Looks like a lower grade rep without working chrono movement but at least the spelling is correct on the rotor and the pegs in the corners of the dial are orange instead of black. I think the orange should actually be more yellow. The funniest thing is the rotor. Although nicely replicated the wording is spelled wrong in the traditional Chinese fashion. This cenifugal system must be state of the art..
  10. well in that case I will just buy all the tickets
  11. I really want that GMT. I think the upgrades make it look much nicer than the original one I have. BTW, what exactly is a geveaway?
  12. Glad I found this thread. I need help getting to 2,000 posts.
  13. Very nice choices. I am in for this one and will post a comprehensive review when I receive my watch.
  14. I have been using Gillette mach 3 blades for years. I think they have 3 blades. I have sensitive skin and these are the only blades that don't irritate me. I use the turbo and power series sometimes as well and honestly they work better, but I get a hell of a deal on the regular mach 3 blades at the flea market so I buy them in bulk. I tried the schick 5 blades not long ago because they were cheaper and boy did they give me a rash. Didn't really shave close either. If I use anything less I swear I wouldn't have skin left on my face.
  15. seems odd that the milgauss with this movement is priced so much higher than the asian version. Is this movement really any better or different? Has the case been re manufactured with the proper crown height? Looks like there is a GMTII coming with the same movement as well. The crown position looks the same to me.
  16. I bought a watch too so I guess I should say goodbye........... But I still haven't decided who has the best sub so maybe one more day.
  17. It's cool they can make an asian movement look nice with engravings, but the real trick would be to replicate the movement so we have the correct crown position and thickness.
  18. You could pawn the tools and buy a gen..
