  1. I know Kenberg had some a while back that were UV protected. The problem with rep shades is the lenses aren't always good quality and you don't want to play around with your vision. I have been told by several eye doctors to only wear polarized glasses.
  2. There are GMT II's in gull gold with diamonds. I am surprised I don't own one. The only rep sub in gold with diamonds that will be anywhere near accurate is the serti dial. Only diamond hour markers, but these dials are very inaccurate anyway. I would go with the GMT II diamond bezel, lugs and even dial.
  3. The Rolex Masterpiece is a very nice rep in both ladies and mens. Automatic however. The only other option I could think of is the tag link, or if you can convince her that larger watches are the trend for women these days (is is you know) get matching Daytonas, yachtmasters or anything else for that matter. Just buy two.
  4. I agree with just about everything that has been said here for your trip to Vegas. Rooms are cheap right now and if you wire about $20k into a Casino's cage you can get a free trip. $50k and they pay for your airfare and pick you up in a limo at the airport. If you plan to gamble sign up for the players club. There are a lot of casinos owned by Harrahs like Paris and Caesars so if you join at harrah's your card will work in all the hotels. You would be surprised how fast points can add up. It is easy to get some comped meals. The seafood buffet at Bellagio is a must as is the Palm steakhouse at Caesar's Palace. The poker rooms at Caesars' and Wynn are the best IMO and the Bellagio is legendary. Go to the Golden Nugget in downtown for a $2.99 shrimp cocktail and chili dog after the single deck blackjack. Don't wander too far off Fremont street though, could be a bit dangerous. You can get anywhere in Vegas for a $10 cab ride. The best public transport is the monorail and it is great to walk around the strip this time of year. Beautiful weather. Remember to be aware of your surroundings at all times, only give money to the panhandlers with the sign that says "why lie I need a beer", stay away from the guy that is selling coke in the bathroom, and remember the Hookers aren't all 19 year old horny college girls no matter what the ad says. The Fremont Street experience is a must also. Some of the best things in Vegas are free. I try to eat each meal in a different hotel just to get the most of Vegas when I am there. If you want the best haircut and shave you have ever had try the Art of Shaving inside Mandalay bay. The best and worth the $60.00. Good luck and enjoy. Vegas is one of the best places in the world IMO.
  5. I have had this same quandary for some time. I recently started wearing quartz chronographs namely the royal oak reps with the same case as the 7750 versions. I love the ROO but I refuse to pay $600 for a fake watch. I figure if it is a chronograph the large second hand is always stopped as they are on my auto chronos and they have satisfied me so far. Also I ran on of spots on my winder so either buy a couple watches or another winder? Hmmmm. Tough decision. I wouldn't however wear any 3 handed watch, including a gen, that is quartz. I have some friends locally that I get watches for. Most of them don't care if it is powered by quartz, auto or hamsters. This is why we are such a rare bunch. After over 20 years of collecting watches both gen and rep I think I may have matured a bit. I no longer turn my nose up top the quartz chrono, but like you said it still has to be high quality, aesthetically close to gen and the right model. I think the Omega SMP is available in automatic asian 7750 at a reasonable enough price. If we are talking the difference between $100 and $600 the quartz audemars is good enough for me. If we are talking the difference between $100 and $250 for a SMP I think the auto is a no brainer. @Gio, stop posting so much, I can't seem to read anything else once I stare at your sig.
  6. Maybe trusty is selling franchises. Replica businesses
  7. 20 is not too late to start. I too once wanted to be a chef. I worked at several restaurants between the ages of 19 and 21. These were the worst jobs I ever had. I never had a culinary degree but worked along side people who did for the same hourly rate. The hours are long, the kitchen is hot, the work is hard and you are constantly scrutinized. It takes many years of grunt work to be promoted and most executive chefs don't even make $100,000 per year. I know the head chef of Mortons. He works 70 to 80 hours per week and with his bonus makes around $80,000. I guess I have never been a manual labor type of guy but it seems like such a small fraction of chefs ever get their own restaurant. Most want to work in a corporate setting for benefits and security. The restaurant business is very risky and many fold their first year. Sorry to be a downer, but if this kind of reality is appealing to you go for it.
  8. That is a big order, but if I remember correctly you live where I do and the incoming customs for us is a breeze. I have never had a problem.
  9. Every girl I have been serious with has received a Rolex Masterpiece with the white MOP dial. The MOP is versatile enough to go with any outfit. Even though you say she isn't a "girly girl" don't let that fool you. She will think about which outfits the watch will match. I say go for MOP. And I do think the pink dial will lose its' novelty over time.
  10. I'm sure Seiko and Timex have some mainstay designs. Some companies have brought back old designs like Invicta's russian diver and Vacheron Constantin with their diagonal reading watch.
  11. The finish on that case is superb. I am not one for the all black watches as I like my bling, but that is really nice looking.
  12. I guess the 80's and 90's are coming back with all the talk of Oakleys............... And Metallica...
  13. Thanks for that comparison. This steel has been the missing link in our reps for a long time. It looks like this version is worth the extra money. Damn my wallet will be empty once again.
  14. Looks like you get a genuine swiss Unitas movement and I am sure the QC is much better than the reps, but with such a simple case how much more can you improve on the quality? I would bet they even buy their cases from a factory in China.
  15. IWC for me today. Nice break from the Rollies for a change.
  16. I now have both on my desktop. If we come up with more my computer can look like my watch box.
  17. That is totally demented. I love it!!
  18. Might be hard to do with drill mounts but the easiest way to tighten or loosen glasses is the nose bridge. Bending the nose bridge inwards will bring the temples tighter, but be careful there is only so much play and it is easy to crack a lense on a drill mount.
  19. I had this one up for sale and decided to wear it for a while. This fits right into my new white dial theme. Wears very nicely and feels good on the wrist for a bargain priced quartz watch. I always liked the AP design but $500 to $600 is beyond my limit for a rep. This one suits my needs. Thanks for not buying.
  20. Picked this up last week from my local dealer. Really nice quality. The white dial with yellow/orange accents really pops. I see myself trending towards white dials recently. Nice change from all the black dials in my collection. Something you don't see every day. This watch although large, is very comfortable to wear. People complain about the straps on these but this one seems to be pretty good. Soft leather. I am also a bracelet guy but have recently been trying rubber straps. This is my first leather in a while. BTW, the power reserve works. I know nothing about IWC. Can anyone comment on the flaws of this watch? Enjoy the pics.
  21. Got a new pair of sunglasses Friday. Fred Bora Bora limited edition. Matte black rubberized frame with brushed aluminum accents. Added polarized prescription lenses. I have always been a fan of high end sunglasses and eyeglasses. We spend a lot of money on watches, eyewear is just as important. Post your favorite shades here.
