  1. I haven't opened mine but due to the price I assume it is some sort of Asian movement. The second hand sweeps pretty smooth although it does get a little jumpy now and then. The watch is keeping good time + a few seconds per day. I've only had mine since Friday 11/13 but it hasn't left my wrist. @Lani: How is the clasp on yours? Mine appears to have the same clasp. The little notch in the last link should have a spring loaded aperture but it is still pretty hard to open. Is yours spring loaded or just snap shut and pull like hell to open? Great pics BTW. I have new wallpaper.
  2. I had one just sold. Kept good time on my winder for a while. I have a chopard gtxl with the power reserve movement that works quite well and keeps good time. I wear this watch often. Only difference is the PR is @ 6:00 and date is at 3. I have to assume it is the same movement with a different configuration.
  3. Very nice watch. It is apparent you have impeccable taste and you are a man of style and class. BTW, Here's a shot of mine
  4. This is one of the most horrific things that can happen and one of my greatest fears. I almost burned down my house when I fell asleep with a pizza in the oven. My 9V battery was dead. Thankfully the fire was contained in the oven but I learned my lesson as well. Glad you and your family are ok but I too would like to know what started the fire if you care to share.
  5. Stamped base metal? Was this one inexpensive when new or was base metal regularly used? What does this go for today?
  6. I bought a bottle of this just because it made me laugh. Really not bad though....... Afterwards I pulled out these Added a little bit of this And then I ate about 25 of these :thumbsupsmileyanim:
  7. Save it. This may be a collectors item like that stamp with the upside down plane. I hear it went for over two million...
  8. For those of you who don't know Scott Rothstein, he is a high profile attorney that is in the news every day since he got caught swindling around $1 billion dollars from investors in a ponzi scheme. He also took $57 million from car dealership owner Ed Morse. A recent article can be found HERE He lives not far from me in Fort Lauderdale, but with much nicer houses and cars of course. Apparently he is a big watch collector and the Sun Sentinel mad it a point to publicize this. Some pics of his now IRS/FBI seized watch collection.
  9. They are real. I have owned several pair of Cartier eyeglasses. The difference in price is because one has wood temples and the more expensive is buffalo horn. The horn is really nice but comes at a premium. This guy sounds like an idiot though, it seems he would think you have to be an idiot to even spend $1,000 on a pair of sunglasses, which is the price he has them set at.
  10. The Mayor of London has decreed that Westminster bridge will be closed in the early afternoon on sunny days. This is because a strange phenomenon happens when sunlight passes through the balustrade of the bridge, forming a small army of..... well...... see for yourself!
  11. This is an actual auction right now item #110455706470. Thought the description was funny so I decided to share.
  12. Good point teejay, my WISness chiming in on that response. Well if I must.....
  13. This coming from a guy with a gaytona avatar. BTW, why would a day date be more understated? They are all either gold, white gold or platinum. As far as drawing attention, I guess you have never been to Florida. Rollies are a dime a dozen. I wear a fully iced out jacob to a club and rarely get a second look, except from certain types of ladies of course.
  14. Wow, it's been a long time since someone asked who has the best Sub........... Read the forum my friend. There is a lot of good information here. Also the search button is your friend. With that said, the best version of a replica Rolex Submariner is a subjective question. There are so many different versions and they all have their subtle flaws. You ask for one that is indistinguishable from genuine on the outside and I hope this is only for your own enjoyment and not to scam someone. With that said, 99% of the population couldn't tell a fake Rolex from a genuine if you hit them in the head with it. On the other hand a watch as mundane and ubiquitous as a submariner will be assumed fake by many people anyway just because it is probably the most faked watch in the world, and ironically it seems to be the hardest to perfect. My advice to you would be to buy a Sub priced under $200 as your first watch. It is almost certain that this first will lead to many more and open your eyes to other brands and designs you may have never heard of before. Read on.
  15. The yachtmaster II is fugly IMO. If you go with the first option try a day date with a champagne face and stick markers. Classic, refined and I'm sure Narika can source it for you. If he likes bling, go with a masterpiece like in my sig pic. Other than that I have a gold yachtmaster with a blue dial. This one is classy and something you don't see every day. I'm sure narika can get you one of these as well.
  16. Get a life. Seems like edging towards 2,000 doesn't seem so important any more.
  17. Um, case diameter 39mm? Are we going backwards in time now?
  18. I had the silix upgraded version of this a while back. I miss that watch, sorry I sold it although after reading about the bracelet screws I remember why I did. They are pesky and it became a pain to wear as the screws tend to loosen up on you. Great looking watch though. Wish they would improve the bracelet and re-release this one.
  19. Not to mention for the replica manufacturers................
  20. I bought two New Era hats off of ebay. One is a NY Yankees hat and this is the one I thought was real. It says made in China on the inside. The other one is a black on black NY hat with the Gucci GG logo embossed on it. This one says made in USA but was shipped from Korea. I expected this one to be fake but is wool just like the other one and has all the same markings. Could the one with Gucci logos be real or are they both fake? I know everyone wants pics but I am too drunk to work the camera. Does anyone know how to tell a fake New Era Cap and is it possible for a cap to have Gucci and NY on it and be real?
  21. Just wanted to express my feelings today. I am cooking fresh oxtail stew my favorite. I have a new business that is starting to come together. I am on my patio on Fort Lauderdale beach with a glass pf Robert Mondavi merlot and the weather changed so I have a great breeze My windows are open with Billy Joel really loud. Life is good. On the other hand a good friend of mine is facing big charges for his ownership of a tittie bar. See here titie bar raid I gave them my great attorney and some cash was floated his way. I hope it works out. But life is good. All that I used to wish I had doesn't matter because I have all I need.
  22. Very nice. I have the white dial power reserve version. This looks much better than rubber.
  23. Here: MSN Article Interesting article with the same old rhetoric, but this time has a quiz to see if you can spot the fake. I think we invented that game so technically MSN has repped RWG!!
  24. I have the same watch. Really nice for the money.
