  1. There are a few ways... the water drop test for instance, but I can never be sure sometimes doing that test. The way I check mine is to tap them (gently) with my fingernail. If it's sapphire... it will make a low pitch "thud" compared to a much higher pitch "tink" if it's mineral glass. (Sorry, I dunno how else to describe the sound without using "thud" and "tink" ) Those of you who have a Fiddy with DSN sapphire crystals.... tap the front crystal, then tap the caseback crystal. See what I mean? Yep, for those of you who doesn't know.... the back crystal of most Fiddys is mineral glass.
  2. Here are some pics of a gen Super Avenger I took last year... enjoy! This watch is worn daily with very little care for a whole year... you can really see evidence of that on this pic: Just because it's a gen Breitling doesn't mean that it's invincible to daily wear and tear... Still... a timepiece, or as Breitling call it, an instrument to die for... Hope you enjoyed the pics... Also posted on other rep forums to share and for all to enjoy...
  3. Not for us bro... October 6th for NSW...
  4. Yes... tone down on the details of the tracking, I think we can get the story without the image.
  5. If you haven't received it already, you will receive it on Monday.
  6. This topic have probably been brought up before... I think we need to be reminded from time to time. Are your reps really worth stressing about? Do you have reps that are not perfect? "The case is 0.00009 microns off!" "The CG 0.00000089999 microns off!" "$hit... there's a scratch on the bracelet!" "F@CK!! It's +1 sec a day! I'm sending it off to The Zigmeister!!!" "D@mm1tt!! The color of my lume is different than the gen... it's supposed to be lime green, not apple green!" "Why doesn't my chrono reset like my Swatch? It's more fun to watch!!" "Just look at the distortion of my Fiddy glass... it looks nothing like the genuine!!" "My Breitling logo on the dial is 0.00000456 microns off to the left!!" "The bezel is misaligned!!! Son of a b1tch!!!" "The font on the date is off... it 0.00001 microns too skinny!!" "The date is misaligned!!!" "Look at that pearl... JUST LOOK AT IT!!!!" "AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!" .................. .......... .... Is it really worth stressing? I feel exhausted writing & reading the complaints above... like most of you, I have been guilty of some... if not all of them. Why stress? Take it easy... Instead of stressing... take a different approach. Here's an example: I have a Tag Link rep with A7750 that is -1 minute a day... I can't find a watchmaker locally that could fix the problem, and like some... I never open my watches. Did I stress about it at first? Of course I did! I wanted to throw that thing out my window. But I learned to lighten up.... I really like that Tag and wanted to wear it. So I thought, "1 minute a day... so what?" What I do is, I set the watch 5 minutes fast... so I would re-adjust every 5 days and always know that the watch will always be fast so I'm not late for anything. Some of you might think once every 5 days is a chore... but don't you wind your manual Pannies daily or EVERTIME you wear them? Turns out I don't wear the watch longer than 2 days at a time anyway. So why did I stress in the first place? For those of you that can fix or mod your own piece... I salute you. But if I were able to fix and mod my piece... I would be never satisfied and stress out that a sub-dial is not perfectly round like the gen. Enjoy your piece... you paid for them, so have fun wearing them. 99% of the population are not like us... I can guarantee, they don't even know what a CG is. Remember the 10 seconds rule... most of the watches offered here will pass with flying colors. And if you do get called out... "Is it? How do you know?" If you don't hear the words crown, subdial, CG or crystal... take the watch off and let the sucker feel it. Like 99 out of 100 people I've done this to... will hand the watch back with a look on their face, the look of "$hit, I was wrong." And you'll have a smile on your face...
  7. I'm with UB7... I don't shower, swim or go anywhere near saltwater with my gens... or my reps. The last time I swam with a watch? A Casio G-shock when I was 7, cause I was intrigued with it's water resistance. Some of these high quality reps are based on the real deal... which it's water resistance depends on the design (screw down crown & pushers gasket...etc). In the case of the BCE... it should be fine, but get it pressure tested with your watchmaker if you are not sure. Just because 1976's BCE is fine doesn't necessarily mean that your's is. Remember, these are reps... the consistency of their assembly is questionable.
  8. Very Nice... I like it...
  9. Nice pics... thank you... So were you wearing a rep as you were browsing these stores? LOL!
  10. Thanks Victoria... Yeah, me too... I didn't like Breits at first. Now I keep flicking through their catalog deciding which gen to get.
  11. It's rokay... we not offended....
  12. Took a little longer for her to source than expected... but no problems once shipped, same amount of time as the last order. Yes... the AR is quite good for a rep, you can see the effect on the last pic. It's like there's no crystal. Btw, here's a pic she took of the AR before the watch was shipped:
  13. Received it this morning, this watch gave me a lot of joy today. Enjoy the pics... Forgot who posted the problem about the bezel screws coming off, a million thanks... I checked mine straight away, there were some screws loose and I gave them the Loctite treatment.
  14. I'm a tech freak by nature and there's not much things that I own that is not digital. To me, there's an emotional connection between the watch and the wearer. A mechanical watch NEEDS attention from the wearer, more so than a battery powered quartz. They WILL stop ticking if left alone, even for a couple of days. Whereas with a quartz, you take it for granted and assumes that it will keep on ticking as long as there's battery power. To me, a mechanical watch is a part of me that will serve me well the more I pay attention to it. It's been said that a good mechanical watch could last for generations, much more so than a quartz. To me, a mechanical watch is an escape from the digital world. I could look at a skeleton watch or a display back for hours, just marvelling at their movements and how all those gears need to work together for one purpose: TO TELL THE TIME.
  15. Nice... I like the looks of the Vintage Tele... but pity single coil is not my sound. The goldtop looks like it's missing a [censored]? (neck pickup tone adjuster, the forum censored k.n.o.b ) Collecting guitars is my other hobby too... these are a few of my babies... Yes... they are all gens...
  16. Can't get enough of this Fiddy: Maybe back to one of these tomorrow:
  17. @Victoria Nice story... I agree with Dudro... grabbing wrist is a little rude, especially from a stranger. If it was a dude, I would have given him a strong right hook. If it was a cute gal... then I would have followed through and hit on her.
  18. I paid AUD$900 unlocked last September from a guy in Sydney.... I had him upgrade to firmware 1.1.2 from 1.1.1 in December. The unlocking process method depends on which firmware you currently have on the iPhone, everyone of them have a unique unlocking method. That is why they command such a high price when unlocked. Took him about an hour to unlock 1.1.2 at the time... I'm sure there's an easier method now to unlock that version. If you buy them new unlocked... the firmware will probably be 1.1.3. I saw an auction for an unlocked 8gb with that firmware version for about AUD$1000.
  19. The biggest problem is they are affordable to most people... I ended up spending $$$$ more a year than I would spending on gens... I DON'T NEED ANOTHER WATCH, I DON'T NEED ANOTHER WATCH, I DON'T NEED ANOTHER WATCH, I DON'T NEED ANOTHER WATCH, AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!
