  1. Been loosing sleep thinking which color to get.... white dial it is!
  2. Actually... I had a look at his album. The movement on his "Ultimate Fidddy" section is still the needle swan neck, not the correct dagger swan neck like my pic on my previous post above.
  3. The best thing to do is to contact him and ask...
  4. You can still buy a Fiddy from DSN, but it won't be an "Ultimate Fiddy". The so called "Swiss ETA 6497 with correct bridges, swan neck dagger movement" is not available anymore. You can still buy one from him with an Asian 6497 movement. They are "just as good", unless you wear the watch backwards.
  5. Yes... enjoying mine too. The reason why these "Ultimate Fiddys" are sought after: Feels so goood on my wrist...
  6. Im flying tomorrow... I plan to be at the Airport at least 2 hours before my flight. Is that anal?
  7. Thanks for your well wishes Helmut... Unfortunately yes, there were problems... like a few people here. I went through 3 Fiddies before he sent me one that was acceptable. The other 2 had cosmetic + mechanical problems. I would have kept one of the first 2 if they had just cosmetic problems.
  8. @vbarrett Vic,I know how you feel... the same happened to me The excitement of receiving a replacement and expecting it to be perfect... or at least mechanically acceptable to be used as it's meant to be used... to tell the time. I was heartbroken when my first replacement was a dud.... I was out of $$$ too. Luckily for me, my 2nd replacement was OK, not perfect.... but as good as a DSN Fiddy can be. Hope it all goes well for you... let us know how you go.
  9. A couple of more shots of why this watch is special... the movement... Comparison to Andrew's old "Ultimate" on the right: This is the reason why I bought this watch  : FYI I took all these shots with my phone camera!! Nokia N95 with 5MP camera.... I love it!!
  10. Gen Oris for me: I took that image with my new toy, Nokia N95 smartphone with 5MP camera...
  11. You're right... didn't notice till I read your post... You're right about that too... I've just compared the 2 dials on my Fiddys... I've spent too much already... I don't think I'll bother swapping the 2 dials over, have to relume, etc, to match with the lume on the hands. And there's a good possibility that it might not be an easy swap... the dial maybe to big / small for DSN's case. I'm thinking about it though...
  12. @vbarrett I know how you feel.... I got mine last week...
  13. @babola Dial txt is the same color as DSN's I've got Andrew's older version with the brighter txt as well as DSN's current "ultimate" Fiddy. It appears that both watches does not have sapphire crystal backs, I've compared them to a 111h I got from EL... which does have a sapphire back. How did I compare? I tapped the case back glass with my fingernail... EL's 111h has a deep "thud" sound and the 2 Fiddys have a louder and a much higher pitched "click" sound. I did this test with the front crystal when I first got Andrew's Fiddy.... made the same "click" noise when I tap it. It wasn't until I replaced it with a DSN crystal when I noticed the difference. Although still not perfect....IMO DSN has got the best "out of the box" Fiddy... cannon pin fixed, excellent lume for a rep and the closest movement to the gen so far. If I want a perfect Fiddy... I'll buy a genuine
  14. I've just received a Fiddy from one of the dealers here... I put the watch to my ear to listened to the movement... it's making a funny ticking noise on the front of the watch.,.. JUST THE FRONT!! When I listened to the back.... beautiful (tick tick, tick tick) like a normal 6497 movement, just like the my other 4 pannys. On the front, I can still hear the normal ticking noise... plus a deeper (clack clack, clack clack)... almost like an echo of the normal ticking noise. I've had 3 Fiddys in my hands and I listened to all of them... the other 2 did not make the extra noises. The funny thing is, I can only hear it from just the front of the watch... not the sides or back... ONLY THE FRONT. On the plus side... the watch is working beautifully. I've worn it for 12 hours and it's keeping very good time. I've even timed the seconds hand and it's accurate to the second. What's causing the noise? Should I be worried? I need your expert advise. Update: Upon further inspection... it seems like the noise turns up when the watch front is facing up, I can hear the noise from the back when the watch is in this position. As soon as I placed the watch upside down... the noise dissappears. Has anyone else experienced this?
  15. Take it to a rep friendly watchmaker and get it regulated
  16. Oris uses Sellita SW200 as a base for their divers watches... http://www.oris.ch/collections/collections...p;id_product=65
  17. @The Zigmeister Thanks mate... I'll let you know when i get stuck...
  18. Hi everyone, I just wanted to announce that I am the buyer of the watch... I do not blame onezero for "misleading" me in any way... it his him, that has been mislead by the original seller of the watch. I was merely asking... just asking... if he would take the watch back and I'll pay for the postage both ways... so no loss for him. There was no demand... or malice intended. I've read about the exploding crystals... so I am not really surprised when I found out that the front and back are both mineral crystal. No water drop test or chemical analysis needed... you can tell by tapping with your fingernail. Try tapping both sapphire and mineral glass... there is a difference. No big deal... Davidsen to the rescue! But...because it seems like the movement was not a normal/genuine (whatever) 6497... my regular watchmaker (a friend who does not do this by profession, but educated in Horology...yes he does have a degree) was reluctant to service it. I was going to keep the watch if only a watchmaker would service the movement for me. My heart just dropped to the floor when he told me that it was a "dodgy, Non genuine ETA" movement. Where I live (Sydney)... it is very hard to find someone that would even look at reps, let alone service (overhaul) them. If anyone knows a watchmaker in Sydney that would service reps... please PM me. Judging by onezero not replying to my PMs... I'm guessing that he does not want the watch back. That's fine with me... just a simple yes or no would do, no hard feelings.
  19. Yes... Holly... one of our fine ladies from the southern hemisphere ...
