  1. I'm wondering when and if the rep factories are going to get around to accurately reproducing the ceramic sub since it is no longer a fantasy model. To make it accurate, they have to make the lugs 0.6 mm wider each (visually quite noticeable vs. the gmt-c case)and make the lume dots larger. Those would be the good improvements for accuracy sake. The not-so-good changes for accuracy sake would require thinner bracelet links (for the permannt links),a thinner case, and a narrower hour hand (on the gen, only the minute hand is "maxi"). Again, the rep is superior to the gen in that the bracelet is thicker, the hour hand is thicker and the case is thicker, but I do really wish they could at least get lume dots to look like gen and fatten up the lugs (I know many people don't like the supercase, but the sub is visually distinguishable from the GMT-IIc case in terms of lug thickness). I have a feeling (wonder why) that it will take years to get an accurate sub-c reproduction. BTW, nice sub, I have a few of them myself. Didn't mean to take away from it. They are fantastic in their own rites, but felt the need to put it out there that the gen is here and it is different.

    My Submarnier

The only tell is the dial. The hour marker rims are way too thick, as they are with 99% of rolex reps. Otherwise, really nice.
  3. I transplanted a gen 2836 into my GMTIIc and the hour hand wore a path through the dial as it moved over several days
  4. Nice!! Who did you get it from? Are the endlinks tight? Thanks-
  5. Sweet looking. I'd buy one for myself if they were a couple of mm smaller.
  6. I also looked for it among the gazillion daytonas on watcheden. A link to to the correct watch would be much appreciated.
  7. What happened to #2 that caused you to buy #3?
  8. Most of the dealers have the more accurate version, including Josh. Actually, of the more accurate version, there are two variations. Gioarmani did a detailed review of both (difference is in the small details). I think he got it from Chris (Eurotimez) but I'm not 100% sure.
  9. It exists, but the color of this rep dial is nowhere close. It was a first attempt that fell short. The newer version is much more accurate.
  10. That site is using pictures stolen from Top Notch Watches, a well-respected internet dealer who, for some reason, does not watermark his photos.
  11. Which jeweler did you visit on your way back to the hotel? Curious because I live in Ft. Lauderde and wondering which store. There ARE a lot of rollies here. The only thing more common than rolexes are bmws, lexuses, infiniti, etc.
  12. I meant to say bezel inserts, but I've read from others that the gen-spec inserts fit the rep bezels
  13. There are aftermarket ceramic bezels for these on ebay for under $100
  14. Would never have guessed those were cellphone pictures. It's hard to find an angle from which that watch doesn't look fantatic.
  15. Well said. We all have our own reasons for the watch we want.
  16. Definitely on my list of places I must see. Lord of the Rings piqued my interest. Thanks for sharing
  17. Congratulations on the best overall Rolex out there. Funny, I have 2 gen submariners and a daytona, and the only thing that gets wrist time is my GMT IIc REP. It's not a "new watch" thing either because I've had the GMT rep since it first came out. It's interesting to me that with such a good copy available, so many rep owners are buying the gen. Then again, if the rep had a decent movement...
  18. Jeez, you found that in ChinaTown? It's the same thing our dealers are selling. How much did you pick it up for?
  19. I'm also loving my BK/WM9 Yachtie. One thing though, it's much lighter than even the noob YM I had a while back. I attribute this mostly to the bracelet. For some reason, the noob bracelet was just more substantial. Anybody else notice this?
  20. I would have nabbed one of these myself if I weren't waiting for the SS ceramic submariner to come out. As much as I love the GMT, I like the cleaner, less cluttered look of the sub. Congratulations on [another] gorgeous watch.
  21. i was wondering the same thing. Doesn't look like the oversized case with too-deep rehaut we expect from these things. i was wondering the same thing. Doesn't look like the oversized case with too-deep rehaut we expect from these things.
  22. Depends; is the watch a gen (she's clearly not)?
