  1. I highly doubt it was his creative way of calling the watch out. Unless he hangs around on these boards he doesn't see the glaring inconsistencies in our current crop of sub reps. People check the ticking of the second hand, the size of the date, and that the bracelet has hollow mid links. If it passes that test then you're okay. If he handed it over, it's likely the guy was checking the overall feel of the watch. Our reps have a great feel of quality. I have handled older gens and they feel about the same (yes the rattly bracelet too). When people here say they handles a gen and it felt much tighter and ricker than their rep it is probably a new gen they have handled. The bracelets and bezels don't stay tight like that for long, unless you baby the watch. I wore my EL TT on a Regent cruise and must've seen about 2 dozen gens of that watch. A couple people pointed it out and say "hey, great watch" and another actually held his wrist up to mine and said "I've got the same watch - don't you love it?!" Even with the fat winding cown, and single piece sel nobody thought for a second it was a rep. I say he wasn't called out. Still not a good idea to hand over the watch.
  2. I have yet to hear anything bad about the new asian 7750s...despite their reputation being tarnished by the old model. Either way, the swiss 7750s come up on the bay for under $250 sometimes. It would be really cool to replace a broken asian with the swiss version and basically have a "virtual-gen" Link. By-Tor cost me $1200 when he started flashing pix of the Aquaracer again (although I had and sold the quartz version so the Auto was destined to find me somehow). Now he is going to cost me again. I don;t want to be searching for one of these in 6 monthns and read stuff like "Remember that awesome Link chrono rep that was around last year? Why don't they maken them like that anymore?"
  3. Very cool watch. Probably of excellent quality. The 6 month reserve reminds me of a seiko with the same feature. It keeps time without moving the hands, and when you start to wear it again the hands snap to the current time and it goes on counting. cool.

  5. Got you. Also noticed Josh has wrong subdials (to correspond to the Miyota chrono), incorrect markers, and Link hands in place of the pointier Gen hands. Not a bad looking rep in any case however.
  6. Excellent! You mistakenly got a gen!!! Did you get the box and paperwork from Josh too? how much?
  7. What color do you think that datewheel is now?
  8. $1400 for a Moon Watch with an "unlimited" warranty. Sounds good to me. honestly. you could walk into Costco in 3 years and say the watch is 5 minuytes fast per month and they'll gove your money back to you...or a new watch.
  9. Where in the world did this come from? You're kidding me if you mean to say this is a rep. I have never seen a decent Aquaracer rep yet...never mind the real quartz movement! Do the chronos work (in 1/10th second increments) for real? Wow! Nice watch.
  10. Beware gettign a used watch that has gone unserviced for too long...or has possibly been abused. I know myself I could never get by not knowing the history of the watch as far as care is concerned. I'd buy quartz used, but I'd have to really know the guy to get an expensive genuine used. ...and I'll say it again with pics. For the price, this guy makes a fantastic first Gen watch. 7750, and looks that could KILL.
  11. I've seen that rep before...in blue. On canal street of all places. It's nothing anyone here woudl ever wear, but more like something you'd give your kid to wear. The bezel is poorly machined, the watch is smaller diameter, and I saw 3 right next to each other...none of which lined up correctly (dial was rotated out of alignment). I hope they aren't guaging interest with that puppy. It is among the worst of "fakes".
  12. Now By-Tor...you have to go out and get one of these too so I won't feel so lonely. Too bad the rep makers can't figure out how to make that bezel properly (my guess as to why there's no rep of this). This would sell and sell....and sell. I'll be picking up one of those Link reps to keep this guy company. Comments please.... Very difficult to photograph without the dial going to black. In real life the watch has a presence of none other. This almost casts a shadow over the PO....almost.
  13. Here it is... http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=7682 I just got myself one and everyone who has seen it has said it is the best looking watch they have ever seen. In person it's presence is huge. ashford.com has it for like $1300, and if you sign up for their mailing list they give a 10% off coupon about every 2-3 weeks.
  14. I'll call quartz rep on that second TAG pictured. Two 60 dials sounds like a Miyota OS10 or OS20 quartz chrono. I don't think I've seen a watch like that with a link bracelet either. Also, the bracelet should have two separate pieces per link. On this one that is simulated.
  15. No comparison between the standard TAG movements and the Omega Co-Axials. The accuracy, and more time between service requirements alone make the Omegas stand out. And let's be honest. The TAG's can be gitten much cheaper than most comparable Omegas so teh comparison isn't really fair. TAG does very little to modify the movements they use. The standard link uses a 7750 (Calibre 16 28,800vph) and the Calibre 36 is a Zenith based El Primero movement bumped up to 36,000vph. Both are very trustworthy movements (as we know) but the Zenith is surely superior. Most TAGs are not chronometers, and this will be reflected in the accuracy..but TAG sure knows how to make a good looking watch. They make a few of my absolute favorite designs. True, TAGs don't have the reputation of Omega, Rolex, etc...but they are far more recognizeable to most people. More people notice them. Also, just because they make a lot of quartz watches doesn't make their automatics inferior. they use the same tried and true movements most other mfgrs use. the lower price makes them a great candidate for a first Gen. Didn't Heuer invent the built in winding crown?
  16. What styles do the TW subs come in? I inquired to EL about an LV version only to find that htere isn't one. I want an LV with deep rehaut and correct case dimensions.
  17. Well, Ashford has been excellent and are sending a new watch Monday. I am really impressed with their service. I will either send one or both watches back after examining the other. I think this one may just be a lemon. I have noticed that the crown is not straight on the stem either (wobbles when turning) and is thus difficult to screw down. Perhaps the shop they got this batch from had this one on display. I always cringe to think how many people are handling the watches in display cases...and then some unsuspecting fool pays retail for them. Who knows how much they have been shaken, wound, dropped, tossed...and my favorite is the tric the canal street sellers use to show you that a watch is automatic. They smak it HARD on their pal to get the rotor spinning out of control and make the watch vibrate. Yikes! I did check out a gen at Tourneau and the chrono was pretty much straight. the winding was identical though, down to the rough resistance and slight squeak. I have a feeling it's a trait of the 7750 (at least not yet broken in ones). Thanks for the replys.
  18. I got my Aquaracer automatic today from Ashford and it looks positively beautiful. There are some issues I want to check though. It's possible these are normal quirks of the fames 7750 movement. 1 - It looks like the hour chrono is a degree or two off center after a restet. Run the chrono and reset again and it looks bang on. Isn't this an issue with all 7750s and considered normal? 2 - Winding by the crown feels a little squeaky and unsmooth, especially compared to my ETA sub and Genuine Omega PO. Also, when unscrewing the crown there is a clicking noise, and even while screwing the crown in you are winding the spring. Again...normal for this movement? 3 - Setting the time feels a bit more rough than with my Omega PO (smooth as silk) and ETA Sub (less smooth than the omega). It seems to all work fine, but the movement feels a little less refined in it's operation by the crown. So do I send this one back for a replacement, or will i just get another just like this one since all 7750s are known for these traits? Thanks in advance for your help and advice!
  19. Search does not seem to be working for me for some reason. I am particularly interested to see a TW Best LV sub as EL an get. Since MBW is MIA I am looking at alternative subs for mod jobs. Thanks!
  20. Paypal is still the most convenient method of payment for many, and it irritates the crap out of me when this type of thing happens. We should really set up some kind of dealer fund for when something like this happens, although I know it isn't lost fund but lost time and paypal aggravation that really costs the seller. PLease reveal this jerks IP address too...and let it be banned from all rep forums. Heck, even a couple hundred dollars is a gamble when buying a rep. you know that, and take a risk. i am surprised most of the dealers will resend more goods even when customs intercepts a delivery.
  21. 99% sure that's the genuine article...and a good deal. The rep boxes I have seen do not include the outer box, manual, and certification card holder as pictured. The items in the picture are identical to those that my gen PO shipped in.
  22. Looks excellent. If I didn't already have the PT I'd go for King's. Thinga I like better about hers are the dial (correct 300m, correct minute marks, tall & slender coronet (correct)) - The clasp has a beter coronet, one that is wide at the loop onsteade of narrow and tall - the crown isn't a monster like on most sub reps - The crysytal height looks excellent, not close to flush with the bezel - the movement looks beautiful in it's decoration. Things that still bother me are the rehaut (shallow) - date mag alignment (too close to bezel) - date alignment (will they ever get this right!?) - CGs are still too hunky on the inside - and this one has some insert fit problems. The diameter of the insert looks a hair too small, and it isn't fitting all the way in the bezel. Pearl seems to be okay (hard to tell from these pics) but while the lume looks good in the pic you can see that it is non-uniform in the hands. This is nothing new on reps though, so not a major complaint. King's sub looks like a great choice, but like all others it has its' own issues too.
  23. Yes...Blue! I am very excited. Ashford had it on sale for $1154 until midnight tonight so I rationalized. Buyer's remorse later...excitement now!!! Pre owned ones on the eBay go for $1000 or less all the time...but I've yet to see a blue one (pre owned).
  24. Well...there you have it. Just goes to show how weak I am. The watch is on its' way. I'll post some pix when I get it. Now I just need to find the dough for marriage couseling. A couple more watches and it's either that or my wife is going to send me to the psychiatrist!
  25. I must have one. Damnit By-Tor...now you're messin' with my wallet!!!!
