Thanks once again guys! I bought it as a slim cased 7922, but with the rehaut opening being 27mm, proper sub dials wouldn't fit. I eventually binned the whole watch and moved the dial to different builds. I was actually going to sell the case set, but looked at the side profile of the case and said to myself...this case has a great profile for a 6542 build! An interesting note is that the case will fit a 390 movement, which would indicate that a Rolex 1065 movement may fit! -

Thanks everyone! M...it blewed up...blewed up good...couldn't find the parts, so went with a 2836 GMT movement yes...there has to be modifications involved...I had to grind the Silty movement ring down, in addition to the back side of the dial to reduce the overall height. NICE! I just might consider that! Thanks P...I'll PM you... -
I finally received the last part that I need to complete my 6542 build. I procrastinated for some time getting a GMT drive wheel for the movement I used in my 6542 build. I can finally introduce my build and an interesting one it is! I've been following the great 6542 builds of JoeyB and freddy333 and decided to use a modern movement...a 2893-2. Sure the beat is wrong, but parts are plentiful...and no...I would not attempt to use a Zodiac 75B for this GMT build. Now the interesting part of the build. Nice and thin case...no not a silix...not even Nathalie or Phong...It is an aftermarket Tudor 7924 case. This case was completely wrong for a 7924 build, but perfect for a 6542 build! I did use a gen crown...so is it considered as a franken build? The 116 crystal is aftermarket and I really like the sloped edge of the crystal and fit the profile of the bezel perfectly, creating a single sloped line. I sourced my bezel assembly and insert (sorry Joey) from Nathalie. I had to modify the case a bit to get a perfect fit for the bezel. And the completed watch with a Yuki 7206 bracelet Unfortunately I don't have a 747 Pan Am model available, so I had to use an airline with similar colors. Since I fly with them a lot...

I'm excited for this build. I't may take a few months, but I am sure it is worth it. wee...wee...err...oui...oui!!! about 4 yrs of gathering parts! I started of with a gen bezel, then the gen pushers (tops only), followed with the dial and hand set and finally the case. I have a rep gold wrapped braclet, but I think I'll go to a leather strap instead. What I still need is the crystal and the bottom part of the pushers. M! Its still pretty wet here. I assume you got my spring bars, because they didn't get returned this time. It most definitely is...have a look at the sub-dials. It is confusing though as the 116523 has the exact same dial... I'm still a small chihuahua in a big world of franken building...

really nice build! -
And Happy Canada Day to all fellow Canucks!

The bezel is still Sean. I thought that it is more than adequate, but if a gen ever goes for a cheap price....

Thanks C!

The inspiration for my build is from the original press release of the 16610LV. Though they do exist, they were never for sale. What intrigued me was that the press release model or the so called Mk 0 is a really a model that transitioned from old to new. While resembling the Mk 1, the main differences for the Mk 0 are the lug holes and "16610" is stamped between the lugs. For current LV models, "16610T" is stamped between the lugs to denote the lack of lug holes. Introducing my 16610LV Mk 0 build... Because I don't have a side profile shot of an actual gen Mk 0, I couldn't determine if the 703 crown had a long or short coronet, so I opted for a long one. JMB did a masterful job at drilling out the lug holes. The important piece of this project is the insert of course. I used a WM9 insert, until I recently found a gen Mk 1 insert. Love the flat top "4". In addition, the bezel fonts on the gen are hard to copy. The gen "3" and "4" fonts have slight flairs at the ends, while rep inserts are pretty much straight lines. By comparison to the WM9 insert, the gen is more bright in color. I used a Sean case set for the build and a Yuki 3135. The Y3135 is running without and problems so far. One of the minor flaws of the Sean case is that the lug engravings aren't deep enough, but the case is stamped "16610", there is "T" for this case set. Standard Sean bracelet...for now... So my build consists of a gen Mk 1 dial and bezel insert, rep hands, Sean case and bracelet, Y3135 movement with WSO date wheel. Thanks for looking!
