  1. Beautiful...I think Hamilton claims 10 microns on the plate...be careful...I have a Dodson that showned significant signs of plate wear with minimal wear. I love the old style (7753) Jazzmaster Chrono in RG
  2. Ahhh the one crooked line...damn these people for pointing that out! Other problems...it's not titanium likr the genuine and the afore mentioned bracelet. Other than that it's an awsome bathtub of a watch. I love these Oris "Titan" divers. The shape is Ikepod alien cool. Make one out of Ti with a Ti bracelet and I'll break the bank again!
  3. I agree that it keeps getting better in terms of replication accuracy. QC is still a problem but sticking with one of the long timers in terms of sales gets you some solutions to the most common difficulties. I too have been out or the rep market for about a year now concentrating on genuines. Part of this was due to the enormous increases in price over the last 2 years. I did just break the bank to the tune of almost $400 with shipping for Josh's SOSF which got rave reviews for accuracy. That's how I always bought...getting what was in the 95% accuracy of reproduction range instead of buying what appealed to me aesthetically. My OCD wouldn't let me buy a display caseback Vacheron or Patek clone with an Asian 21J peering through the back. The SOSF, Seamaster Chrono, Tag Link Chrono, Bentley GT are all remarkable replications of the genuine article. I posted 2 years ago this can't go on much longer. Wrong again eh???
  4. I wouldn't look for a movement clone any time soon. What would be the purpose? The nuts like us who would salivate over an accurate 3135 movement replication and would pay top dollar for one are pretty few and far between. The vast majority of sales in the replica watch market is at the low end with Asian 21Js being the primary mover behind closed casebacks. Decorated rotors, blue screws and Geneva wave and cloud patterns on Asian 7750s are as close as we are going to get to accurate movement replication. Besides, I think Rolex SA would get pretty ticked at an in house movement copy.
  5. Wow...just linked to this post...great collection and yes you have grown as a watchmaster in the past few years. Wonderful photography as well. Super watches especially the AP Tourbi and the Nautil!!
  6. OK I'm going to risk sounding like a jerk but does anyone else think the lume around the 0-15 min bezel indices doesn't look that great? Is that a photo artifact or is it that thickly applied?
  7. Same here...strange actor on my wrist...it keeps perfect time + - 5 sec per WEEK...on a winder or on the desk +- 10 sec per day. Weird but I guess we have karma together.

  9. There are some dealers here who have suffered and withstood attacks to their reputations, deserved or not, over the last 18 months for pricing, misrepresentation and gouging etc. We've been over that ad infinitum...but these "reputable" dealers are the only vendors in this black market who take some sense of responsibility for their product. I have had several watches that were less than perfect for one reason or another serviced to my satisfaction by the seller or refunded/credited. Yes, I agree...$400 is a lot of money for a watch...you would expect a Tissot for that much to perform flawlessly and stand up to close inspection but...we all know what we're buying here. Stay with the long timers for the best insurance and customer service.
  10. Just found your review....pretty much a fantasy piece...that kills it for me. My Visa thanks you! CC
  11. Jeeze...that IWC Top Gun is beautiful. Any comments Pugs? How do you like it. I'm ready to lock and load on it.
  12. Wanna know what my wife said? "It looks loke a plate of worms"! To each his or her own.
  13. Decent watch...looked at it about 18 months ago but decided to go for a 7753 Hamilton Jazzmaster Chrono in 10 micron rose gold plate but...got rid of that eventually. The bracelet was a little too busy for me. There is no doubt this stock, unaltered (except for the rotor engraving) 7750 watch represents one of the best mechanical watch values out there.
  14. Wow...what a bunch of self-rightous criminals we are!!! Like Kenberg said over and over again...we partake in an illegal trade. To try to take the high road in this is pretty hypocritical. If Eddhead wants to swear off all rep buys and burn his stock because of ethical issues...that's just fine but the moral sparring here among us "fake watch buyers" is pretty amusing. It reminds me of the scene in the Godfather when the heads of the five families take the high moral ground in allowing the drug trade, piously declaring "I don't want it near schools...I don't want it sold to children". Yeah, thanks a lot...that stance was really effective.
  15. Well said...we all need to resopnd to and act on our own internal voice. As for me, I'm sorry to say that I tend to rationalize my part. I find it difficult, for example, to see how conserving water in my neighborhood in the rain soaked Northeastern US has anything to do with drought conditions on the other side of the world...like I said rationalizations galore.
  16. Where do you draw a practical line? With replicas??? 9/10ths of everything we buy in the states has an asian market manufactured part in it...a quick look around my desk...everything from the computer hardware to the pencil sharpener to the calculator to the bulletin board push pins are made in China. The topic has more global implications but I dont see how we should be the ones to start being altruistic.
  17. Anyone know a source for replacing a crystal on a rep Navitimer...Josh's TT Nav????
  18. Not true...Rolex 3135 powered watches are renowned for their COSC and then some accuracy, usually less than 2 sec/day and close rivals to Omega's co-axial escapement movements. 20 seconds a day is fine for an Asian 21j movement but that doesn't mean it can't be tweeked closer. I would be a bit concerned by the vast positional differences in accuracy. A large diference between dial up and dial down means potential trouble. The good news are that these movements are easily replaced and if you can pull hands and align the datewheel overlay, it's a quick do it yourself job. As Ziggy hs stated, replacement parts for these movements are not available so they are basically disposable. You can pick one up for about $12 USD at Cousins.
  19. The fact is that Ziggy doesn't need the work he provides here. He does it as a pure service and is forced to say no to work far more often than he says yes so, it doesn't take much to slide down to the end of the bench and wait your turn. You have got to see it from his perspective. He doesn't need the hassle and some here have been enormous PIAs (I'm not saying you are) in their demands so you can see why the man would want a carefully screened clientele.
  20. I think becoming a supporting member might go a long way toward forging a relationship with one of the most valued resourses on this board.
  21. Cant seem to find an image of the genuine that matches.
