  1. Type "Rolex 1665" into the search engine and... A NOS bezel insert .....yes tritium 1570 movement 70's vintage bracelet Vintage boxes Wow...if I just had $2000 laying around....no, if I had that I'd buy a genuine right???? I've got MBW fever.....bad
  2. Springbar tool. I use it to remove springbars, open casebacks, nudge adjustment posts, pick my teeth....oh yeah....toothpicks for that.
  3. I suppose hope springs eternal. Buyers hear a couple of owners who report no problems and believe the flip of the coin will come out a winner for them. The fact remains that failure is almost a certanty with these movements. The problem is in the design and as both Ziggy and Ubi have stated, an untenable strain on the power train. I can only speak for myself, but my intent in buying a mechanical watch is a hope that with regular servicing, it will last a long time. If the engineering is flawed from the start, then failure is guaranteed regardless of service. These watches are sure to be junk drawer inhabitants.
  4. I don't understand why people continue to buy these knowing of the abysmal failure rate.
  5. Jennifer Garner looks like she/he had a botched gender re-assignment surgery. Nice watch though.
  6. 5 min fast a day needs service. The adjustment scale inside will correct to about 30 sec/day maximum
  7. Love those pointy nipple hour markers.
  8. I don't think anyone would order from a dealer who openly declared a 2-3 month delivery time.
  9. Gold FA Jones on a genuine honey brown croc strap.
  10. http://cgi.ebay.com/AUTHENTIC-MENS-ROLEX-S...1QQcmdZViewItem He even states it has a hologram sticker and an automatic movement. Don't miss out on this one for father's day!!! Any way to contact the poor saps who are bidding on it???
  11. The super huge hold no particular appeal for me. Funny, when I bought my genuine SMP Chrono a few years ago, I was terrified I had bought a clown watch, so large, everyone would look at it and snicker. At 42mm, it's pretty tame and reserved today. The big FA Jones IWCs are elegant, I guess because they are slim. It's about as large as I dare go. I thought the Longines Lindburgh was a cool watch until I found out it was 47 or 49mm. What a joke.
  12. I addition to the many nuanced differences pointed our by out crack staff, the fit and finish on the genuine dial is amazing compared the rep.
  13. Can you cite specific links to the watches? The B&R movement issue has been beaten like a dead horse around here.
  14. I just went for the 1665 MBW. According to Ubi, fewer dial issues than the 1680s. Getting it from TTK but I've been around for a while. Water resistance tested, QCd and regulated if necessary. But you are right about the avalanche of mods. I'm already looking at a $300+ service from Ziggy for a tube/crown, vintage lume, springbar drilling and aftermarket crystal replacement. I almost pulled the trigger on a $100 31 year old NIB bezel insert and a $250 genuine flat Tropic 39 on the bay before rationality set in. It will all happen in time.
  15. Great news. The revolution is coming. Gold electroplating is going to the scrap heap.
  16. Physical Vapor Deposition of Titanium Nitride has been used as a wear extending coating on tooling like drill bits and router bits for years. It is extremely hard and durable. It has been used to gold plumbing fixtures for the not too rich but famous for many years as well.
  17. No The only bracelets we use do not have watches attached.
  18. Amen I know the rose gold plate on my hamilton jazzmaster is 10 microns. I was told that with daily moderately intense wearing, I could expect 15-20 years. I wear it twice a week so I'm sure it'll be good as gold for my lifetime. And just a BTW, Hamilton is the latest watchmaker to stop gold plate and use PVD Titaninum Nitride as "golding" on their watches. Tough as nails and looks just like actual gold. They join Tissot and Baume and Mercier as major manufactures using this process. The only problem is TiNi is yellow and with the popularity of coppered rose gold, it's not being used on a lot of watches. When the chinese start golding 18K Folexes with PVD, we'll see a revolution in "gold" replicas.
  19. I now have a gorgeous 18 size 1909 Hamilton 992 Railroad watch, restored to chronometer performance. Its a jaw dropper. Engine turning on the case back, blued steel hands, a 21 jewel movement. $300 on the bay and a $325 restoration. It was well worth it.
  20. Fully wound this movement should run for at least 36 hours. If you are going to switch movements anyway, I agree, why bother to persue the issue.
  21. The twitchy second hand is not a good sign. This is an 8 clicks per second 28,000 bph movement. The gearing that is required to move the constantly running seconds dial to the six oclock position, as well as the other gearing to swap the other subdials around, puts enormous, and some would say insurmountable (those who own DOA Daytonas), additive friction on the power train. If your second hand is not running 8 clicks per second smooth, there is inherent trouble in the drive train. The addition of lubrication oils in the jeweled pivots causes too much friction in these "taxed almost to the limit" machines and will cause them to stop. Good luck but unlike other unaltered 7750s, 2+ days of relatively free running doesn't mean much with these ticking time bombs.
  22. You've wound it enough for it to operate normally. Houston we have a 7750 problem. Probably a slipping clutch which is not an owner operator repair. The good news is, if you can stop yourself from opening the caseback and trying to fix the problem with a phillips screwdriver and a can of WD-40, Joshua will replace the watch with no hassle, just the inconvience of time and shipping. Try to shelve the immediate gratification genes, put the watch back in bubble wrap and email Jose Nana. Oh BTW, just a parting shot....anyone care to defend their contention that Josh inspects every watch and doesn't drop ship???????????
