  1. I never had a parts availability issue with Josh. I guess the above the norm customer service is a function of how much you have spent like all business runs. I for one see this as an admirable effort but I can't see how 10-20 watches a day can be shipped out with this pre-testing without an increase in on the ground manpower. Maybe Josh has taken on some new employees or partners. Who knows. The proof will be in the product and I'm sure this forum will do the testing.
  2. The rep certainly is a beautiful piece even if its a way off reproduction. Nice Xmas gift for the price.
  3. I know he is a diabetic. A change in mental status due to uncontrolled glucose levels or circulatory insufficencies secondary to diabetes are not exactly rare. The TTK being discussed here isn't the one I dealt with 5 years ago.
  4. Am I missing something? I know Neil was a character known for his flaming of those who crossed him but most saw this as the prickly flip side of an interesting and multi-faceted personality that included wonderful photography skills and access to some of the finest watches available. Quirky and unpredictable?...certainly...interesting and alluring? Absolutely. It sounds like the guy being discussed here committed some terrible crime. Was there some major event I missed during my hiatus? What led to the banning?
  5. Dad's 1970 GP Gyromatic 36,000 bph High Beat. Had this restored a couple of years ago and it runs within chronometer specs.
  6. I know there were reports he had passed that were refuted. I know not everyone had a positive experience with him and those he had dealings with either were amused and loved him or they despised him. No trace...not even a line of discussion...amazing
  7. I doubt we will ever see this happen. It was supposed to have happened already...we've been hearing this "end of the ETA world" stuff for years.
  8. I wouldn't count on ETA screws fitting as a back up plan. Maybe they will but not everything on a genuine Swiss 7750 and an A7750 are interchangable.
  9. I just did a forum search for threads pertaining to The Timepiece King and came up with nothing???? All traces of TTK wiped from this site? What happened? I know he retired from the biz a couple of years ago due to health problems but not even a peep of a discussion about him? Wow...how fleeting is fame!
  10. I agree...time will tell but I agree with By-Tor that if Josh and other dealers seriously implimented these kinds of QC tests and standards, their cut of the customer pie would be much larger. About 25% of the stuff I get from dealers has some kind of issue ranging from owner reparable to "send it back to China". If every watch was insured to be running accurately and to have passed a visual inspection by the buyer prior to shipping, our dealers would be much happier campers in the long run. As for Josh's volume...how much do you guys think he ships out on a daily basis...5...10...25 watches? I have no idea but I get the impression given all of the noise out there and the scam artists, his site isn't exactly as well known as Wal-Mart.
  11. The modern day equivalent of John Holmes. He's a porn actor who, like Ron Jeremy, has spent so much time in the institution and has been seen by so many that he has some cross over into real media. The Decorator...I'll leave that for others to explain...I do get it but I wont say!!! Oh Jesus...Big Bang King...of course he wears one!!!!!!!
  12. Chunky Seiko Diver Chronograph. Screw down pushers and glows like hell.
  13. On rounds with my Baume and Mercier on a rubber strap:
  14. SFSO for me...I hear this model is discontinued? Tragic...one of the best reps ever made.
  15. If it's done, that's a shame. I don't think the quality and popularity of a rep affects the number made. We all remember older editions of watches that were superior to newer versions. I have a Swiss Blue with a The Zigmeister serviced movement and it's spectacular. I love it!
  16. Oh my goodness that made me laugh outloud. Truth in advertising I guess!
  17. Sly got in bih trouble a few years back in Mexico I think for his "fountain of youth" concoctions. Had a full suitcase of them if I remember correctly. Looks like Arnold dodged any major bullets from his years on the juice...a bum heart valve a few years back but no lasting negatives. Sly's work ethic in the gym has been legendary for many years. I have no doubt his physique is 90% perspiration and 10% chemical inspiration, a balance that so far has not exacted a long term price. Oh BTW...nice watch!
  18. It's a shame, the solution is so close yet so far. How does the watch do sitting dial up with no movement? Anyway, I would agree with TJ who suggests if its fine on the wrist why complain but I don't think it bodes well for the mechanical reliability of your watch in the long term. The shame is these Chinese movement can be had commercially for less than $15 USD. If you can pull the hands and remount the datewheel overlay onto the new movement, you can swap out movements easy as that. If you can't having someone do it will cost a bit, sometimes more than the watch is worth. Unfortunately, the A21j movement doesnt make sense to repair since fixing one far outstrips the cost of replacing one.
  19. Looks like an A7750 can be had for about $160 from Cousins and it will fit an ETA 7750 case and dial but...total price would be about the same as for one of our dealers reps that would actually look like a watch that is worth something! I've seen ETA 7750s for $300 on the bay so theoretically you could do a custom ETA chronograph for a lot less than buying a base level Accutron or Hamilton 7750. That or obtaining a second hand Swiss 7750 would be the only chrono options that would make sense. If they would just sell the damn A7750 for what it's worth, about $75 USD, there would be more options that I could justify.
  20. Navi-friday Cant get an iphone pic to upload today so here's a stock photo Love this Ziggified two toned beauty.
  21. How about this 154? How accurate out of the box is it? http://www.kingshowbox.com/goods.php?id=4115
  22. Wow...beautiful. Josh has a Pearwood boxset for the 44mm watches as well that has a replacement rubber strap and tool included.
  23. How about this 113 from Josh with a swiss movement/swan reg. Any glaring flaws I should obsess about? http://www.1-pc8838.com/pn11305-swiss-unitas-6497-swan-neck-p-865.html
  24. Well, money has been no object before...why start making it one now? Actually, I would like to keep the unmodded budget under $500. Right now I'd be looking for the best out of box because modding will require more fluency with the brand.
  25. Hi. Ive been a member of this board for almost five years now and I'm embarassed to say I have never purchased any editions of this brand. In fact, these watches held no aesthetic interest for me. Now, I've become more and more intrigued by their unusual beauty and appeal. I have spent thousands on Breitling, Omega, Rolex and other replicas with the guidance of the boards. I have looked through many of the dealer collections and I know what appeals to me aesthetically but above all, I'm a stickler for accuracy of reproduction. I know little of the issues with these replicas except for the basics of missing swan neck regulators and cannon pins but the details are beyond me at this point. I will listen and learn. What I would respectfully request from the devotees out there is what are your opinions on the state of the art in Panerai replication? What are some of the best pieces "out of the box"? What are the best basic pieces for modification? Any and all help will be appreciated. Best CC
