  1. Eddhead...I just love your Honeymooners addiction. My cousin and I have every line of the classic 39 comitted to memory. We're an annoying duet at family gatherings when we get going.
  2. Remember, when you get an Asian watch with a genuine ETA 7750, you are not getting a movement that has passed the quality checks that a fully vetted ETA chronograph movement has to go through. Although the origins of these "Swiss" movements that end up in our reps is murky, the consensus is that they are ETA movements manufactured in China that have not gotten their Swiss spit polishing prior to sale as the real thing. That being said, I think the reliability of the Asian version is a much better known entity than the reliability of these "Swiss ETAs" in out replicas. I have had positive and negative experiences with the A7750 but I can say the quality of the unaltered version available today is better than the state of the Asian art 5 years ago. I dont think paying extra for a genuine (whatever that means) ETA movement is worth it.
  3. It's amazing...this run of the mill Submariner cost me less than $100 new a few months ago and it is lights out better than any premium Sub offered 5 years ago. The date mag is perfect, the crystal is crown etched very well, the rehaut is excellent and the crown is 10 times better than what we would have seen on $198 Subs in 2004. I love it!
  4. That's a terrible tragedy. Yes lung cancer is an awful disease. My father-in-law was a 3 pack a day smoker for most of his adult life. He was a seat of the pants, high wire walking Greek who lived everything he did to the maximum including, unfortunately, tobacco and alcohol. He was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer and passed 18 months later. We were blessed that he regained his strength just long enough to visit Athens with his children one last time. He died at home in the middle of the night with family at his side, holding his hands and praying for him. It was very gut wrenching. I adored him. He was a very personable guy and he always knew how to have a good time with you. My wife and I lived through it only with ample love and support for one another. Hold on to eachother...it's so important now. My sympathies CK
  5. I don't know why but there is something satisfying in building it one piece at a time as it approaches perfection. Maybe that's at the core of our addiction. The most recent version of the replica SMP Chrono isn't anywhere near as good as the sold out version of this watch. Maybe the prices for the genuine used are depressed at the moment because it uses a lightly re-worked 7750 and the new genuine has a from the ground up in house co-axial machine.
  6. This probably belongs in the Omega forum but I wanted the peanut gallery to see this. Asian 7750 serviced. Genuine dial. Genuine bezel insert. Rob had to remove a ridge on the back of the insert do it would lay flat in the bezel. He did this on a lathe. Hands lumed to match the color and intensity of the dial. I've owned the genuine of this watch and the watch is indistinguishable. The bracelet leaves something to be desired. It is missing key articulating movement in the individual links making for a less silky feel. I'll remedy that soon! Amazing watch but when u add it up, does it make sense? I don't know. The bezel insert was $100, the dial $300 plus the service and lume...another $300...it's almost a $1000 watch when u add in the purchase price. I would be within $400-$500 of a second hand one on the bay. Oh well, it's been fun none the less. Rob is an amazing craftsman. The care and skill he displays in his work is always of the highest quality. He is, simply put, the best watch professional I have ever used and I have dealt with some high end shops (and some bottom dwellers too...you get what u pay for!). Thank you my friend. We are truly fortunate to have an artisan of your caliber available to those of us in the dark replica world.
  7. Oh my...very surprising. I loved the way he loved and cherished Breuget and made certain that brand returned to its greatness. RIP
  8. Got my 14 year old a Casio G-Shock 7 years ago and he and watch are still going strong.
  9. The Patek is a fantasy watch...maybe. They have made so many different and nuanced versions of two dial chronos over the decades that who knows? The watch hs not gained or lost a second in 5 days of running. What's up with that? Amazing!
  10. To the east coast of US usually 7-10 days from Josh
  11. The rose gold FA Jones was a bargain basement watch, less than $130 but the plating is thick and durable as 3 years of wearing attests to and a Ziggy service on the Asian decorated movement that has it running COSC accurate make this one of the best buys I
  12. Here are the box shots. Remarkable quality. About $150 USD for the Box.
  13. The white gold with polished stainless under looks beautiful. I received a remarkable Patek box set today to go with the Patek that is unmatched in detail to any other rep box set I have purchased. I will post pics soon.
  14. Three incredible pieces from Jose Nana arrived this week. Actually 4 came but one is a SS Sub, remarkable in its own right at $108 but we
  15. Thank you Francisco. The video comparing before and after movement of the AP second hand in the 12 oclock subdial is striking. It's amazing the improvement you made. Why is is more difficult to move a running second hand to six than it is to 12? You can see that to a layman, the switch would seem no more complicated. As to the Portuguese "other Problems" not associated with friction, do you know what they are or have they remained mysterious. BTW Swiss ETA or not, I will stay away from this watch. What a shame...it is a gorgeous replica.
  16. According to Ziggy's 2008 review of the Swiss Rolex Daytona with RSS, the Swiss ETA was an upgrade intended to solve the problems based on greater power. Maybe this is just a byproduct of better msnufacture of the ETA power train. That review seemed inconclusive as to the overall problems associated with the Swiss solution and I'm wondering if any long term users of watches with this layout have been satisfied. I think Ziggy was saying the geared solution was inherently and fatally flawed but a prediction is different from actual use.
  17. Has anyone any ideas about the reliability of the IWC Portuguese Chrono, running seconds at six powered by a genuine Swiss 7750? I know the notorious problems associated with the Asian 7750 in this geared up arrangement but I believe I have heard the Swiss has a lot more horsepower. It is available for about $800. I love this watch and I think it is one of the most beautiful reps available. Reliability has kept me from the buy. Any thoughts?
  18. I got a crash education in Chinese tourbillons today. It looks like my watch has a Liaonong 5010 tourbillon which is certainly a different movement than the ofrei calibers. Good to see it is a well reviewed movement although the Sea-Gul ST8000 flying duck has a longer service history. I cant wait to get this watch. The Youtube videos of Chinese tourbis are amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNCzaU3yfpo&feature=fvw
  19. It was this movement that they looked similar to http://www.perfect-hour.com/vc10032-malte-tourbillon-white-dial-real-tourbillon-pi-635.html?image=3
  20. Sorry bad link...it's BR00111 http://www.perfect-hour.com/br00111-jubilee-tourbillon-ssle-white-flying-tourbillon-p-7853.html
  21. They looked suspiciously like the Flying Tourbillons sold by our dealers
  22. Anyone know why orfrei.com can sell the Chinese flying tourbillon movement for an average retail of $35 but when our watch cloning friends drop these movements in a replica watch they charge anywhere from $500 to $1200 for the product? Is it simply because we will pay that much? I used to think buying one of these watches was a risk because no one could repair them due to their high quality and unique manufacture. Now I see they are in the same category as the A21j movements, not worth the repair costs and economically replaceable. Did I get ripped off spending $550 on one of these? Looks like I did http://www.ofrei.com/page1119.html Notice movements F3211 and F8131 CC
  23. Hi guys, I have an Omega Seamaster Chrono with an A7750 and I want to replace the dial with the genuine which fits an Omega movement built on the Swiss A7750. Has anyone done this and any problems I should be aware of? Does the ETA 7750 hold onto the dial via a feet and clamp arrangement like the other ETA movements?
  24. As requested...this is the copy of the new version, red Semaster Co-Axial Chronograph. Notice the accurate, ringed hour markers.
  25. I just received the super rep Omega 300m Chrono in blue. I have owned the genuine for years and this replica is nothing short of spectacular. The only issue is that the bracelet does not have articulating center links like the genuine. The movement is terrific. It
