  1. I'm in ths same general area, (near Philadelphia) and Josh takes 4-7 days here.
  2. I'm not going to open the watch just yet but I put it side by side with a genuine seadweller a friend of mine owns, a test all of my asian 21j reps have failed, and it looked equally smooth. I'm sure Paul's name would be immediate "preferred seller" mud should anyone find him misrepresenting the movements in his watches.
  3. As posted earlier, the $109 dubbed "ultimate sub" from paul addresses the crown guard issue that has bugged many rep buyers but from the photo, the date mag is only about 1.5X. I guess it just depends which fault gets in your obsessive compulsive wound and festers. For me, it's always been lousy date mags and the $119 SS Black Submariner from Paul I just recieved has the best date mag I've ever seen on a rep.
  4. My God! Take care and I hope the physical scars heal soon. Emotional trauma from this kind of thing usually takes much longer. I'm so glad to hear it did not end in serious injury to you or your wife.
  5. Yeah but this guy was her Rolex dealer. It felt a little more special hearing astonished praise coming from him.
  6. This is a true story. My wife and I were out to dinner tonight when we spotted our jeweler Rachel enjoying a few drinks with her staff and a handsome stranger. During dinner Rachel came over to us and noticed my SS Black Sub from Paul. She grabbed the bracelet and said "Ah another one of your fakes!!!" which didn't surprise me, Rachel is pretty good at counterfeit detection by feel and she knows the chances are 50%-50% she'd be right accusing me of wearing a fake. I was intrigued when she told me her companion was her Rolex salesman from New York as she carries a full line of Oyster Perpetuals. After we finished dinner we walked to her table to say bye and the Rolex guy said "great watch". Thinking Rachel had informed him of the replica on my wrist I said something like "Yeah right, you know its a fake" and made light of it. I was floored to hear him lean over to Rachel and say amazed "That watch is a replica...My God!" He asked to see it close up and was flabbergasted by how indistinguishable from a genuine it was. He said "I honestly can't tell the difference". Now admittedly, everyone had had a few drinks but this submarriner will be forever known in my book as "The Sub that fooled the Rolex Guy"!!!!!
  7. I'm pretty happy with this one. The crown guards might be a bit off but the date mag is the best I've seen on a Submariner rep. It fills the entire cyclops. Lume is excellent and it maintained all of last night after a couple of minutes charging under the bedside table lamp. The fit and finish on the bracelet is good although the bracelet still has the cheap feel of most rep bracelets for this model. The laser crown is smaller and finer than the etching on my 50th ann LV. Oh and one more thing, knock on wood, the watch is accurate to less than one second over the first 24 hours.
  8. It was this one http://www.aspire-eshop.com/product_info.p...faebcf989da68f7
  9. Latest purchase from Paul $119. WU charge to use the electrons to send it...$25!!!
  10. I think the ultimate has better cg's but a lousy date mag.
  11. Smooth as silk 2836. Has not lost a second since 11:00 EDT. Date mag is great, it fills the entire cyclops. Couldnt be happier.
  12. OK guys, need some opinoins to chew on and obsess about. I am very drawn to Joshua's TT Datejust reps with solid 18K middle links, bezel and crown. Is it worth it for nearly $500? (and is it believable? Are these solid gold claims true?) I would think the 18k would show much better and more true to the original than 14K as well as be true to the weight. What exactly does wrapped mean? Is it like gold leaf wrapped around a metal base? Will a 14K wrapped link wear just as well as an 18k solid link? Is 5mls gold plating not worth the purchase? I have bought only SS reps but I'm thinking of branching out.
  13. Tissot is a watch that falls into the why wouldn't you save your pennies and get a genuine catagory. Tissot, Hamilton, Longines, and Swiss Army all make mechanical watches in the Swiss tradition for less than $1000 even with complications and I have seen replicas for all of them. I guess the 1K threshold price for a genuine is the "makes sense" price for spending or not spendint $100-$300 on a replica.
  14. Many thanks. This was the next rep purchase on my list. I read in some thread that the Chinese had done a remarkable job on this particular rep but it looks like the dropped the ball whan it comes to the construction of that beautiful bracelet.
  15. Yeah I know but the dial spacing is something I had a hard time picking up even on close examination. Like all of us rep nuts, I find the crooked line in our reps and soon enough, that's all I can see. Good thing about the Speedy is that they produced about 5000 variations over the years so even an Omega collector might be hard pressed to challenge its' authenticity. From Josh's photos, it's a beautiful piece.
  16. What about it is wrong. The one I'm buying has the DW at 6:00. It looks a little deep to be, I guess due to the gearing needed to move the minute dial but it doesn't look too bad from the photos,
  17. I returned my Omega SMP diver chrono to josh because of mechanical issues but I have decided to not exchange it for another. Simply put, it just looked too fake. The distortion from the coke bottle thick crystal just screamed rep to me. Thanks to By-Tor for his extensive review of Omega reps. I have decided to get the Speedmaster Broad Arrow with blue hands and markers. Yes it does have the infamous asian 7750 in it but I figure I just got a screwy 7750 in the SMP so the odds Gods might just be with me this time. This watch is gorgeous and the review states it's very close to the genuine. I'd like to get some opinions from other owners out there. I also want to thank RWG for saving me the headaches from buying a VC Overseas which was the next target in my crosshairs. There was a recent thread about terrible bracelet problems.
  18. Just smacking ya a little like I got smacked. Actually, I got my ass in quite an uproar about a week ago when it happened and got on quite a soap box about how this board needed to be more welcoming to newcomers, be more tolerant, yada yada yada etc.....
  19. I think that's what we wanted to hear!!! There looks like there is still some residual paranoia about someone hacking into Paul's site as I believe this happened before. Just the old "It's too good to be true" hairs on the back of the neck standing up.
