  1. Sigs? Who notices sigs? <edit> And it would be remiss of me not to interject here on the OT; I would just hate for folk to get wires crossed in the name of misunderstanding and interpretation of mere rhetoric. I had composed a PM to Doc, whom I've known and respected a long, long time from the old defunct RWG, and am indebted to him for registering there and giving the Flying Dutchman a touch of raison d'être and class in the vein of 'Omni', 'Ryannon', 'johnnyboy', 'Rolexadict', 'greg_r', 'Trailboss', 'fakemaster' and a looooooong list of others who just tried to make something out of very little, uhhh, yeah, but I deleted the PM as, in that medium, was just gossip(y). As I mentioned in that other thread; the original premise of 'jumping on noobs' to pressure them into supporting the forum came out of left field. To me. If it exists I missed it. Other than the mention of Oren, there have been no links to threads supporting the notion. Just some hard feelings relayed from nameless members posting on other boards. That is a non-entity I won't address unless 'they' post here themselves and can link and support their specific situation(s). For us, and especially 'lanikai', to expend personal resources on the subject, that could be focused elsewhere, is a waste of spirit. It's chasing shadows. Our plates are full, or could be filled with bigger fish to fry. If Doc felt compelled to bring issue, then it must have some validity. I'll personally vouch for that much even tho' it went over my head. It got me thinking and I'll carry it as I troll along RWG. And he has his forum. 10 pages at last glance with some very good and thoughtful replies. It's certainly worth discussing even if only to verify the membership's commitment or stir solidarity. Raise awareness through communication. I'll quote it one more time and then step out of all this; From where I stand, I'm not sure anything more succinct on the matter could be said.
  2. Looks good on you. Ever consider a pumpkin UPO?
  3. Pin this. Not true! Some may say this is going to be a redundant thread, but if it dilutes Doc's "Free" thread then I'm all for it. 9 pages? That's not fair. To 'P4GTR'. Who tries so hard, tries anything, to get at least 3 deep.
  4. You can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool Mike. Or Rob. You guys are the Ralph Naders of the rep world. I bet there's a million dollar contract out on you now Well, this was great, and of course it wasn't Mike's intent to expose anything for any other reason(s) than scientific v marketing curiosity, in the final analysis? Is this going to deter anyone here with regard to buying a new watch with touted 316L? Wouldn't me. 'lanikai' 's reviews beat the science. I mean if 'Little White Lies' didn't, well................ Thanks Mike. This is 'big' in the archive dept. Truely the newest revelation since 'Camieu' did the gold tests on the old RWG (too bad that never came over from the other board). But you know what I'd like? For you to run the same battery on a gen Rolex. 904/440 my ass! Maybe JoJo, Stephane, or Freddy have a donor watch? I bet Bob does the 'spark' test every week-end just wearing his 1675 into the wilderness.
  5. Whoa, 'Davey'. How the hell have you been? Surrey right? Have they dug the tunnel in Hindhead yet? Not even a hobby watchsmithy, so I have no box o' parts, but I was sorting out a load of files to shoot to a back-up drive and I came across a saved post/tutorial of yours regarding 'Keyless Works Realignment' you posted on the old RWG, 2-3 years ago actually. Spooky how that goes. Maybe it were your last post to date? Anyhoo you helped sort out my TWB SD. I suppose you missed my 'thank you' post then? Good luck sorting out your old projects. I know how it feels to fall out of 'hobby'. I've had this on the building board for about seven years. The progess from pic 1 to pic 2? Three years. Good to see you.
  6. In other news, I see you double posted your UPO thread at 1.1. Interesting that you got similar input on both threads. Some good advice all around. I'll be checking back at 1.1 tho'. I have Vegas odds it won't go three pages over there before some one works '[censored]' or 'cocksucker' into the thread.
  7. Nice watch, but if pfender can source the same @ $245 with verified ETA? I'd PM him.
  8. Well, you're learning a few things here Dan, and don't feel bad. I couldn't count the times on all fingers and toes X2 where a member bought a 'Chronograph' but didn't actually know what a 'Chronograph' was. It's basically a 'stop watch' that keeps track of seconds, minutes, and hours in any total and any increment up to 12 hours. That's what the other two subdials are keeping track of; minutes and hours. The running seconds serves very little practical function aside giving an indication of the movement actually running. The larger main dial sweep second is used for the stop watch because it's easier to scale tenths of seconds. Your main sweep second hand may have indeed been properly oriented to 12:00 when you first took possession, but since the A7750 main sweep second hand is merely 'press fitted' (and rather loosely) on the cannon pinion post, a 'reset' from a far distance from the 12 on the dial, say the 5,6,7 o'clock position, the momentum carried by the hand during flyback (reset) actually misplaced the hand. That is; the post stopped, the hand continued It's common, and there are many caveats about resetting a A7750 chrono in the archives. The good news is; it's an easy fix, the bad is, it requires uncasing the movement. Something you may not be prepared to do. There is a 'quick fix' that only 'sometimes' works. If your sweep second hand is displaced (resets) after the 12, start your chrono and stop the hand before but close to the 6 o'clock marker. Let it flyback from there. Did it get closer to the 12? Yes? Try it again. Closer? If so continue untill it is acceptably close enough to the 12. You may not get it spot on, or it may not budge at all. In future, reset your chrono ONLY when the sweep second hand is close, or better yet 'on' the 12. There is no momentum built up during flyback and the hand won't displace. Good luck. Welcome to the RWG learning curve.
  9. ......and by sheer coincidence, it just so happens Troop 214 is standing by with snow shovels and sand bags participating in a 'Dig You Out' fundraiser. Ever ready.
  10. LMAO! Yeah, Bob is the only guy in Alaska with 14 gauge steel gutters. Self cleaning in a 100kt 'afternoon breeze'.
  11. Reminds me of the time 'Dave123' and 'johnnyboy' went fishing in the islands.
  12. A Rolex only a true collector could love. After he bought 3X everything else.
  13. If not, 'PowerShot' is giving 'Gioarmani' a run for the money. FIGHT! FIGHT!
  14. Please give, so more can live.
  15. Has Doc's $100 cleared PayPal yet? Just askin'.
  16. You're right Gunnar. The Lemania/Venus/Seagull bi-compax chrono movements are true corruptions when they are fitted with the 24hr module. None of those calibres ever hosted a 'third' subdial register, for any reason. It's a lark of 'replica'. A 24hr hand does not a Moon phase make. It's obvious why the factories build 6263's and other faux tri-compax with the 'animated' hour subdail totalisors; they thought we would prefer 'something' going on down there. In hind sight, no, a 'frozen' hour totalisor and a uncorrupted Seagull bi-compax is preferable. I wonder why they don't build them like that? Now.
